Mike pinball i like bowling ball as he just boshs whoever is infront and “rolls over them” pinball sort of suggests he bounces around and off his opponents in my opinion anyway
@@boom4301 .... you can like bowling ball all ya like,, but he's known as pinball for exactly the reason you discounted it.... go watch his highlights more closely pergaps? He does a strong mix of smashing over or smashing around n off 4 defenders at once. Either way has to be a stick on for the lions
Mike aye hes definitely the lions 7 in my view he may be known as pinball in ur region of scotland but as a whole he is known as the bowling ball as he doesent just bounce of boys biggar than him he steam rolls them
@@boom4301 that's my point, rewatch his clip, his doesn't always just go thru, quite often he bounces off thru or into other players, still demolishes them but pings around much more like pinball than smashing straight down the middle. Ive watched every game he has played in last 6/7 years and honestly never heard another person call him a bowling ball

In 2017 he was the best flanker in the 6N in every game he played but one. He outplayed Tips, Warbs, POM et al but ….
That one game? England gubbed Scotland. Gatland used it as an excuse not to take him. "Too small, not physical enough."
Laughable when you consider Sam Kane played for the ABs. Instead? Gatland took James Haskell. I'm still bitter about that. I get Warbs, POM start but Watson off the bench? I guarantee he would have had far more impactful than Haskell.

Unbelievable player. Hard as nails ( Most other players wouldn't get up straight away after being smashed by Kepu's shoulder), always has a decent number of tackles per game, beast at the breakdown and virtually unstoppable with the ball in hand. Heard him described as a human wrecking ball. And he is.
He somehow has the frame for being strong and explosive, uses quick changes of direction with power to bounce into contact. The guy can sprint too. Lions #7 for me.
Holy smokes this guy is a beast. I'm one of the many Kiwis that gets a real kick out of seeing the Scots hurl themselves in to a hunt for victory and this guy is clearly going to an insta-grin generator for that.
Could watch him play all day, he's an absolute machine

Been a world class 7 for a number of years now in recent times i think hes slowed down a little not as much energy as he had in many of these clips but during his prime maybe a year ago he was definitely best in the world up there with Michael hooper

I think Tipuric has got to start. I’d love to see a Tipuric and Watson flank partnership but I don’t think that’s the way they’ll go against the saffas, they’ll want more bulk. Watson would make a perfect impact sub though.
Tipuric is less good then Watson i think. I think it's more likely that thy English Flankers and 8s will get back row places
Osama Bin Wheelie i see where ur coming from but frankly i think its pretty crazy to be starting tipuric over watson, watson is better in every aspect of the game the only thing tipuric has got over watson is height but even then watson is much more powerful and is hundred times better at attacking than tipuric. But with gatland at coach its always gonna be tipuric starting cuz hes always biased towards wales and everyone knows that

I will never forgive Gatland for taking the likes of James fucking Haskell over Hamish Watson on Lions tour in 2017. A disgrace.
Watson has been quietly excellent for years. In Edinburgh's darkest days Watson was often a one man team. I get the nod to Curry, Underhill but Watson has been doing it for longer.
He rarely if ever misses a tackle.
Very good over the ball and slowing the ball at the breakdown.
Arguably as good a ball carrier at 7 as any player at the position in test match rugby.
Love to see Lions have him on bench to back up Curry. Come on in last 20 and cause havoc.

It’s the old adage holding up as it always does. It’s not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog. South Africa ,as Australia have done, will find this out soon enough.
Like many before on these comments, should have been on the last Lions tour, the ABs would have hated him, I doubt if he will get on the next tour either, Jamie Ritchie has a better chance, more of a Gatland style player but probably won't get picked anyway. Thanks for the video.
