Hey, great video. Thanks for this. I grew up with He-Man cartoons and the characters...as well as the 80's toys line. And this comeback has been a chance to own a few figures that I liked back in the days, and to explore as well some I always wanted...just a casual collector. But I am confused - why is it that I see 2 versions of Merman...? I see you have a gray Stratos, while mine is not? I mean, are there different like versions in the same line? Thanks!
Thank you! Yes your eyes do not deceive you, they offer multiple versions of some characters in this line. In the case of Stratos the one with Caucasian skin tone is based on the original mini comics art. The one with gray is the more traditional version. Merman is a funny situation where one version is based on the original toy’s head, while the other version is based on the paintings on the packaging and animation. I hope that clears it up! I have several MOTU rankings videos here on the channel, some older than others, some newer. I try to do a new one every six months or so. Take care!
@@fanboysforever Thank you so much for your reply! Oh my God...then that makes more to hunt, and collect...man! These Mattel guys are doing it AGAIN - kind of 35 years later LOL. Yeah we were lucky to have grown up in the 80s when the last of the great toys were still being produced before the internet and affordable PC's pretty much put an end to the imaginative play that today's kids just don't seem interested in.Kinda makes me wish I had held on to my MOTU figures from back in the day as they'd be worth quite a lot today both in terms of dollars and more importantly sentimental value.

I regret not getting in on these sooner. I collected my first (Mosquitor) on sale at Target just yesterday. There's so many iconic figures from my childhood that are no longer in production. I really hope they get re-releases so people who are late to the game can get what they need in their collection!
Although I only have only bought 4 of these re-release's (Faker,RamMan,Jitsu and Buzzoff) i was a huge fan. I want to say I had 90% of the action figures as a kid. Right now I'm debating about going back and getting Mosquitor. Its just that I barely remember him and he has no nostalgia effect for me. But I sure am getting more tempted to get him.
This video is awesome. A great way to keep up with the series. The list is also very helpful when I go toy hunting because it talks about the variation figures. Maybe do a list of vehicles and playsets? Which figs should be released next? How about a wish list video?
Cool video Jared, still watching! 👍🙂 Use a hair dryer on the front of the drum roll on Battle Armor He-Man and Skeletor, for about 5 minutes. It will soften the drum roll so it works easier.
Totally get that as top two. Chrome Battle Armor for coolness & Grayskull Space Suit figure for the potential of the broader line. Innovating while keeping the MOTU Aesthetic is a recipe for a stronger line; as well as maximizing the duration( possibly indefinite in the right circumstances - see Barbie). Whatever the case, there are definitely more figures that can be made after the original cast is produced. The Masters Of The WWE Universe Andre The Giant demonstrated that. It is an unmistakably MOTU buck that's different size ( not to mention his skin tone was applied not casted ) waiting to be used for someone else.
With the recent news and rumours of some of the other early waves being restocked, it’s great for someone like me who started collecting them only last November. I am mostly caught up with my collection just Tri Klops, and Trap jaw that I’m holding off on, in hopes they get re-stocked or re released. No way I’m paying over $80 for one of those. I was lucky enough that Teela was just announced as a dual pack with Zoar, cause she’s high priced as well. This is the greatest line. It reminds me of when I was a kid and brings back great memories with the Motu toys. Got my son a bunch of them along with some of the cgi too and he’s loving it.
I was lucky enough to be able to capitalize on this line when it first came out, and even luckier to get ahold of every integral character for the good and bad guys, with the exceptions of Orko, She-ra, Roboto, and Webstor, all 4 of whom are arguably integral, I'll get an Orko if they rerelease them though.
@@rootsnootthnute8598 I'm glad for you! Sadly, I got interested in collecting this line quite late... Alas, I was aware...I saw them in retail - MANY of them - but I had no interest at all when the line was released...so I really did not even care to look...! But how could I let some of my childhood favorites pass!? I mean - for the least!! I guess my mind was focused somewhere else... Now that I've been hunting for those wanted figures, it kind of bothers me being unable to talk about the retail availability back then...and, I have this feeling that I could have EASILY snatched those of the current hard-to-find figures for the fair, retail price, if I just had looked... :P Anyway...
@@victorhugovaldezsotoI really hoped for a rerelease even back then, it just seems like a repeat of the vintage line's mistakes to not issue the integral characters (Man at Arms, Teela, Zodac, Stratos, Orko, Triclops, Trapjaw, Evil-lyn, Beastman, Merman) multiple times during the run. Repaints of the sculpts are appreciated, I like minicomics Stratos as a generic Avion birdman, especially for how cheap he can be gotten for, but everyone should be able to get ahold of the original versions, their after market prices are probably only so high due to Mattel not doing this already.
@@victorhugovaldezsoto That was my problem as well. When the line first came out I only got He man and skeletor. I wasn’t interested in collecting the the whole line. I think your list is rather fair minded. I definitely put the repaints towards the bottom. My wife thought Kronis was a buffed up Smurf when she saw him on my shelf. In a sense he does look that way. Keldor on the other hand is amazing. His alternative Skeletor head is the best one released so far and its the one I use for my primary Skeletor. I had to cancel my Power Con 4 pack so I didn't get my favorite version of Hordak but I like that several people are using the Webstor body as a base an putting the extra head from the Deluxe Hordak on as an alternative. So, I think I'm going to try that. I love the Flying Fists He-Man but that quality control issue with the vintage head (or any other head) fitting on tight knocks it down for me. I don't mind the wind swept hair but its the only head that fits snuggly. I'm not too surprised with your number 1 and I agree its a great figure. For me though my number 1 is the vac metal Battle Armor He--Man.

Death of a thousand cuts is a good way to describe my impression and outlook for the Origins toyline, just too many little things wrong that sucked all my enthusiasm out. Perfect example, the plastic, how did they find one that is both soft enough to gouge quickly but brittle enough to break since both those physical properties don't normally coexist in any material lol. Just too vibrant imo, many neon colors. Ikea mini comics. :P 17:13 That "sanded over" look is the result of modern computer modeling tools, the topology resolution for concave creases is much lower and overly smoothed than the old wax carved sculpts they used to make.
