When you think of the excavations, the bricklaying, bringing all that pipe down, etc., you start to realize what a monumental engineering achievement this all is. Amazing!
I was thinking the same, assembling all those pipe sections and calking them all, amazing.

It's good to you're taking the time to show him the ropes. He's learning exploration from the pro's! How to explore safely, respectfully and recording his findings for us all to see are important lessons. Respect 👍
I do have to question the need and value to go into that tunnel that you have been there multiple times in the past. No artifacts, no original graffiti, no new opened passageways, and nothing but pain in going through. At least "The Pipe" would have provided better drama :P and given the little whelp something to really talk about.

I think you should measure the length of a section of pipe, and count the pipes. Then you can plot the tunnel on a map. I vote you should go back again to do that.

I found this entrance a few weeks ago, and I'd been planning to go back with a torch and another person. Don't know if I will now I've seen what it's like in there.

To be young again 🙄 I miss exploring way before everyone had cameras that could fit in a Pocket. Glad I can watch someone else do it I would get myself in serious trouble before I could even crawl that first hole. The kid is going to have years of fun doing this teach him right and how to stay safe👍👍

Looks like that was always a sewer then they ran a pipe through at some point? I bet it would have been fun to go in there before the closed piping.
That wall at 'the end' looks like it might fall down with a good tap, allowing access

It's a long way along that tunnel I was just thinking about the poor people who built that tunnel in the first place with all those brick in a confined space what a job that much have been. Not easy walking along that pipe by the looks of it and not much fresh air if any no wonder your out of breath. Stay safe guys no wonder you said never again.
