My father sold blue birds for years. Cannot tell you how many come from the factory with problems. They ALWAYS fix them (it may take time) but they DO really care about their customers. Respect.
Thats a damn nice bus there... I remember when Blue Bird was more an up-fitter of various chassis, rather than a pure builder. going to school, growing up, I rode on many a blue bird unfitted chassis.
I remember those, too. You could get any chassis with whatever boyd you wanted. Superior made one of the best bodies. Wards were nice, too. Thomas was cheap.
as an ex school bus driver , i am sad i don't get to drive the newer Blue Birds or Internationals. I did dive a 2013 Blue bird and i must say i loved it so much, i wanted to drive it home and park it outside.
As a confused Australian I ask the question. Why do American school buses look the same as they did 60 years ago? They always remind me of The Partridge family bus
too expensive since on budget they only change the front end. Most common bus its like a brand competition every different type of bus got similar looks for city bus or school bus.

Only issues we have are electrical and some DPF issues... BUT this bus looks good and looks far better than our 2019s. Maybe quality has gotten better! Thanks for the video!

Like the layout! Our school district runs Thomas buses exclusively. The newer Thomas buses ride very nicely (compared to the older generation buses), drive well too. I am stuck with a '06 Thomas 53 passenger with a Mercedes motor. It still runs well, considering that I have the longest route (and roughest to boot 60% of it on gravel Arkansas back roads) in the district (110 miles daily). I expect my bus to be retired within the next 2 years, and I am hoping they will replace it with a new bus. I have never driven the new Blue birds, nor do I expect that our district will start buying them.
ViralJ you’re not the only one. I prefer bluebirds because they’re the most quiet, the most comfortable, and they feel more solid than all of the competition. IC used to be my favorite but I just got annoyed with IC. Too loud and felt fragile when riding one. Drivers where I’m from always fight for the new Bluebirds according to my mom who drove school buses. No wonder my parish has been buying new bluebirds for the past 4 years straight.

That's cute - I know the guy. Back when I used to LIVE in Charles County. That hinge design came from the Thomas HDX - first one I've seen in a conventional. (Rather oddly, the HDX has had them since back to the first one I have EVER seen in 1977 - yes, they go back THAT far.)
My school district has always bought the Thomas Saf T Liner C2 Buses. Although they do have some Bluebird Buses, (Which I'd rather prefer to ride in) those buses, having good suspension, and smooth riding, from what I've heard, but they are more expensive than a Thomas Saf T Liner C2 Bus. I guess it would be only as a last resort for the district to have to buy a Bluebird bus. By the way, this was an interesting video you have. I left a like.
I can relate we specked our buses in the day with 5 speed manual with 2 speed axle, air operated service doors, 10,000 frt 23 rears, air operated radiator shutters air horns, butterfly hoods, air dryers, low air pressure wig wags..... lighted air restriction guages dash mounted. I had same problem you spec it out and they always forget some options.
You mentioned on the older bluebirds they had the light blue dash background lights. That’s actually something you can change. My district in New York runs bluebirds. I’ll have to take a video of how to change the background color on the dash. We have the propane and gas bluebirds. Much rather be in an IC.

To be honest, Bluebirds are generally reliable, durable, long-lasting buses but, I can’t get over my dislike for their appearance. I find the design and appearance of the front-end to be atrocious. Furthermore, I don’t like the design and layout of the dash and driver’s area either. I used to love Bluebirds, back in the day when you could choose the chassis manufacturer. I think it was a better time back when the customer had the ability to choose whether they wanted their Bluebird body on an International, Freightliner, Ford, GMC or other chassis. One of my personal favorites was always a Bluebird body on an International chassis. I guess that’s why I choose the IC-CE as my favorite conventional bus in today’s bus market. I think if we still had the chance to choose which body and chassis combination we wanted, I’d still go with the Bluebird body on an International chassis. In conclusion, the BB Vision is my least favorite of the big three. My first choice in today’s buses would be, #1. IC-CE, #2. SafetyLiner C-2, #3. BB Vision. I have always liked the late 1990- Early 2000 Thomas Flatnosed buses. I am really not a big fan of the new Thomas buses that sit on the new freightliner chassis. Personally I love the nice, new, modern, design of the bluebird buses. I love all international bus design better. As long as it can get the job done I don't see the issue.
Is the Vision optional in different floor colors? Baltimore County bought gray floors on the Thomas Saf T Liner C2s and green floors on the IC CEs. And the FS65s, Blue birds and Amtran/IC from 99-06 had green floors. And all have green seats.

Do you have any 2021 bluebird visions? I am driving one..and I'm trying my best to figure out two things about the fm radio. 1) How to change the time and 2) How to have the time display all the time while the radio is on (it displays all the time if the radio is off, but I still can't fix the time). My radio is slightly different than the one in your 2020 (buttons are a little different, and mine does not say the brand). I have figured out how to get the clock to show momentarily, and I have figured out how to change the time but it will only let me do about 10 minutes at a time because then it goes back to showing the station. I really don't want to have to bother the mechanics if I don't have to lol..
Thomas is still my favorite but I'd take a blue bird as well.. the IC CE just doesn't look right to me... but the FS-65 still holds the top place in my heart especially with the MD-3060 and MBE 906 engine combo
phtofl thank you, this is one of the major issues I have with bus dealerships. They don’t explain to you what the options are; if you don’t know you don’t know and miss out on something important.
Around my area, they only put them in if they are in the department of education specs for that particular bus, and unfortunately they have not started doing that yet
No seatbelts. One adult in the bus. If there's a fire and you have 65 panicked children trying to get out, seatbelts would not be helpful. Especially if the driver or a child is incapacitated. School buses are extremely solid, robust and safe. Your child is very secure in a school bus without belts.
I like the new gauges. My district just got a couple 6.8 V10 Visions and they’re nice, but feel straight out of 2009... can’t they just design a new one by now?

carbuff81 2019’s were delivered between October 2017-July 2018, after that they become 2020. The manufacturers have a system they go by.....
They usually start next year's models at least a year early. They do the same with tractor trailer

It's a big box full of seats on wheels. There's no much to change in the design language.
The same reason why Tractor Trailers haven't changed much. It's Utility over Style. It's not a Ferrari.

MrWill1985 you can choose whatever color you like (for the most part). Each manufacturer offers a variety of options.

We have a couple of these at my school, the rest of the bases are ic ce maxxforce
Doesn't need a/c, that's why it has windows that go down.
You can get a shock in the luggage door on the IC. It is an option.

They have a couple between 09 and 11. They have 99, 80 (my former bus), 216, 41 and 70.

I was in a bus accident in 1999. hit a minivan that slipped around a corner. We barely felt a thing.
