A real bisexual petrol-head most of the time they cant unless the passengers walk 5+ feet or a meter and a half in font of the hood, thats what the cross bar is for, may be ugly but it serves a good purpose! And wow those vans are pretty cool!
Definitely well equipped for a stock unit. Could have been from an order that fell through, which would explain some of the upgrades. If you're going through the IC dealer for your aftermarket A/C, you might end up with TransAir units, which is what IC uses (just rebranded under their own name). Should look and operate identically to your factory-ordered bus.
Awesome review, we have 2020 CE’s as well in North Carolina but only in Davidson hopefully we get 2021 ones soon, we also received the 2019 CE’s as well
This transportation company has made a substantial investment in new equipment. They must be doing well. I have a 2009 IC and love it. It has the steering wheel controls for the 8-ways and push button drive for the transmission. I notice on these new Internationals the crossover mirror brackets block the fender-mounted turn signal lamps. That being said I wouldn't kick it out of the bus lot! International makes the best bus. I remember them all the way back in the 50s. They were always the best. I see you have some older models in your fleet as well. Nice to keep them going.
Virginia spec ics have 3 emergency exit windows per side on their new models and have capacities i think between 66 72 and 77 passengers. They also use electric doors and the circle style cross views.
@A real bisexual petrol-head Its a school bus not a luxury liner. that bar is to protect children when walking in front of the bus so the driver can see them
I’ve seen 514 around Saint Charles , cause I live in Charles county & was suprised when I saw “swann transportation “ it’s a nice bus. Love those type of buses
As a student in Canada, a few things I notice are the 8 ways are still on the wheel. I’ve ridden on a handful of these with a maxxforce 6.4 but they’re getting phased out because of various rules. In 2015, my area upgraded to a fleet of Blue Birds, with Cummins engines, but transmissions like to go out it seems. In Ontario the 8 ways are different, where they’re all red, the inside two lights alternate the flash from side to side until the door is opened, then the outside ones kick in. No fancy strobe action from side to side as you see. That’s a nice bus, thanks for sharing
yellowbusguy nice to hear from you. My 2019 turned 13,000 miles today. Averaging 10.4 mpg with the 7-Speed Eaton Transmission. Do you know what rear axle ratio your bus has? Mine has a 5.29. However my 2020 has the Allison with 5.57 gears and getting 9.7 mpg, not bad for a lot bus!
This 2020 is International great dude! I love the rims, it’s too bad my district didn’t purchase those rims on the 2017 international that we got during my senior year of high school. Out of all the bus companies on the market I would vote international as number one
They are decent buses . Our district has had nothing but trouble breakdowns and the exhaust burn system they force stop ect our 1980s GMCS run better. I don't know if they have gotten better or not. Those were 2006-2012s
Nice looking bus, Adam! I love the International IC CE's. I used to have a 2012 International IC CE (Bus 39). Bus 39 had a MaxxForce DT Engine in it and was a 78 Passenger Bus. I have had many 2010/2011/2012 International IC CE's for field trips and things before.
Not gonna lie these are very nice buses. Although I don't ride them to school, I usually ride them towards field trips. A bus I ride on is a Bluebird T3RE.
Yo man I always enjoy your content, you really know how to give detailed info on the specs for YOUR state cuz it’s good to know how other states view safety features. I also enjoy how you give your pros and cons to everything which keeps the content balanced. Always great quality and you’re part of a handful of drivers/bloggers who knows how to provide great insight. 👍🏽💯
The IC buses are my preferred ride. The handling is so much better than the C2’s and compared to many of my coworkers I like the controls on the steering wheel.
John Jenkins With our hilly and crappy roads that our buses travel on every day. When our district picked up a different contractor that runs C2’s. The C2’s ride 10 times better. One driver can go 10 mph faster because the ride is nicer for us than the IC CE. Although not to say that the C2’s are perfect, we do notice a few odd quirks here and there.
Your buses are so nice. My family used to own a school bus company. Are only bus with chrome wheels was 35 and it was a 2007 ic ce 200. Ran into financial issues and had a neighboring company (and close friend) take are lone school district.
Oilfan27 thank you, being a school bus contractor isn’t for the faint of heart. I bet you have good memories of the buses. I’m trying really hard to make a business that’s different from the rest. Thanks for watching!
I drive a 2019 Freightliner M2 built by Champion with the same engine and I love it. The Cummins motor has plenty of power and torque. It’s almost like night and day compared to the International and Mercedes engines in the other busses I’ve had.
Nice bus you guys got. One of our 2019 IC CE’s has been having engine issues so we’re hoping it gets resolved in our 2020s. I miss our BlueBird Visions though.
If you would just get a bus without a hood then you wouldn’t have the shaky crossover mirrors. As for the A/C, I got a quote from the place that does all the work for my Thomas dealer. Their system with 2 underbody condensers and a front/rear bulkhead evaporator setup was around $10,000. I figured by the time we were done (I know the alternator will have to be swapped to a bigger one and I wanted the digital thermostat plus unforeseen expense) around $12k to $14k by the time it was finished.
Great looking bus. Love the wheels, and the color matched grill plus no storage compartments along the sides makes for a very clean look. I think these are the best looking buses being produced with the Thomas C2 second and Blue Bird Vision last.
Looks great! I hope that they've improved on the design quality of the windows though. Can't tell you how many of these buses I've seen with (passenger) windows that have either gone off track, jammed shut or stuck open.
MD state spec with the 8 ways on the right side of dash and not on the wheel is a blessing in disguise, you want your drivers to at least glance over at the service door exit to make sure no kids are tripped or caught in door way, drivers need more interaction not less if on wheel they get too laxy daisy for lack of better term, also our state spec makes us apply parking brakes when debarking kids, yes I replace our brake chambers yearly they wear out power spring if you dont.
Over this summer, the garage up my street is going to take delivery of a new 2020 IC CE that will replace a C2, 238. The old 238 can be a sub bus, becoming S238.
I work doing animal rescue and am buying a used one as we don't have the funds to pay for a new one. Seems like a gas motor is cheaper to run. Also want short wheelbase. Will be putting Goodyear all season tires on
It'd be awkward to drive an IC CE without the steering wheel controls for the doors and the 8 ways. I like that. I don't like the bluebirds with theirs on the left side. I think its crazy that that bus is a 2020 and doesn't have 2 stop signs.
Kyle almost everything on a school bus is dependent on the specifications of the state/county/school system its operating in. Dual stop signs aren’t required in my county so you’ll rarely see them. Contractors tend to stay away from items that will break down the road.
Got new ic buses this year and like the older sets we had that's still annoying is the driver slider window, rattling, ticking junk. And sorry a new one that gets me is the slow cross gate retract, i noticed its vacuum or air powered. Yes i miss the door open/close-warning lights at the wheel.
In middle school and in the first few years of high school, I rode on a IC CE bus but the tops of the mirrors that are on the hood were flat, just like the ones on they bus in the far left of the screen at 4:46, but older ones were round, and I see the brand new ones that have round mirrors. So did IC get rid of the round hood mirrors and got flat ones and then brought back tee round ones?
Adam D Not sure All I know is that those are short distance regular buses or spare buses I think they have a lot of early 2000s freight liner buses that seem to all have water pump issues They got some new buses like Thomas built CNG buses and some newer 2014 ish IC CE buses My bus route always had an old bus thought
Nice vehicles. Unfortunately, like most busses I have seen, at about three to five years they will rattle and just fall apart. The manufacturers don't care about quality as most busses only have a 13 year max service life in the US, unless it becomes a church bus later or is sent across the border to South America. Ed
So will the signage get redone - along with a renumbering? Neither the number - or the signage - match the other busses - or their service area. (Unless you bought out your buddy.)
Clutch fans are the best things because big fans can suck up to 25 hp. Clutch fans would turn on when called upon if the engine reach a certain temp and cut off when needed
Keep an eye on the top radiator hose where the bracket bolted to the alternator secures it. The zip tie is too loose and it chafes and rubs a hole in the hose eventually.
Such a shame my school district only has Bluebirds. This bus also sounds tougher than the Bluebird. I've never been on an International but I'm sure they're pretty cool. I am a fan of the old Bluebird Internationals.
Love your videos; you are living the dream! I'm going to become a school bus driver in the coming weeks and am currently deciding on a company or school district. I know you've had experience with all three manufacturers (more so Thomas & IC) and have knowledge of the pros and cons of each. I have a few questions for you: 1. Would you factor in school bus manufacturer when deciding on a place to drive? 2. Being a first-time driver and CDL learner, do you prefer/recommend one bus make over another from a driver's/ease of use perspective? 3. In a mixed fleet would it be wrong to request to drive a specific make? P.S. I have been a "bus nut" since I was a kid and it all started with an International Thomas. I also rode IC's through most of K-12, so I am a little partial to International.
Ryan Snyder I’ll try to answer your questions. Drivers are in demand so you’ve got a little latitude with perspective companies to make a small request. I too grow up on Internationals/ICs and am partial. ICs can be very different depending on the specs of its construction. I think IC makes the best bus IF you choose dozens of essential (IMO) items. If not, you get an average bus (75%). I think Bluebird makes the best “basic” bus. I’d put Thomas somewhere between a loaded IC and a base BB. As for which is easier to driver? All the drivers seem to prefer the Thomas C2 when given a choice, again assuming the specs are low, which most companies are. I say make it known that you’d like to sample all the buses and go from there. Just remember, senior drivers get the most preferences. Glad your joining the fold and thanks again for watching!
How many buses does this make that you run on regular routes including the Thomas C2 and your yellow door IC CE? And I’m also guessing you are going to have to hire new drivers to drive the new CE’s?
I don’t agree with Cummins because the engine will not preform to spec if governed too much. Cummins needs to breathe. I miss the maxxforceDT engine. However Cummins is cheaper to maintain in the long run.
Ok so let me get this strait, it's a 2005 that had a DT466e but was completely rebuilt? I love drum brakes though they sound so good! You need to order some transit style mirrors for this bus!
Mohammed Toure probably not the exterior but the inside probably will considering the International MV series got a new dash and instrument cluster. Hopefully the new dash, steering wheel and cluster will make it to the buses!
You're supposed to drain the air tanks every day 😂 my service truck (08 international 4300 w/ maxxforce 7) drops to 75 psi or so overnight in the #1 tank which supplies the air suspension
When looking at the side profile of the bus, the skirt is how far the side of the body comes down to meet the horizontal line from the service door. When there is no skirt you'll see that line move up and you'll also be able to see beneath the bus. An extended skirt (which varies in length) will bring the body line closer to the line on the service door increasing the total side profile of the bus.
R Ad honestly, I have no idea. I told the dealer I wanted A/C so they are having it installed; not sure of the brand the aftermarket company uses. Will let you know as soon as I know!
PaulTech to be determined. The working this bus is performing doesn’t really need the 360 system, but I’ll probably do a back up camera. The chrome grill will likely be added to this bus ONLY because you can’t get the bug screen with out.
@@SwannBus the buses in our district don’t have the busboy mirrors that have the support under the mirror so they wobble up and down. Any bus in our district made after 08 has busboy mirrors.
crazy how this design is 15 years old!! still looks good!!
No need to change it. You're right, still looks modern.
A real bisexual petrol-head its a crossbar and it swings out so the kids can walk around it so the driver can see the kids as they cross the street

Shes a beauty. I quit driving bus a few years ago so the newest on I drove was a 2014 IC. With the maxforce 7. What a pile of junk it was.
I live in Maryland
That's the school bus I ride to school everyday
We’re do you get your busses from
Very Nice
My old bus driver drives 514 which is a 2015 ICCE
That bus is beautiful! Are you going to expand your company in the coming future?
What are extended skirts??
When looking at the side profile of the bus, the skirt is how far the side of the body comes down to meet the horizontal line from the service door. When there is no skirt you'll see that line move up and you'll also be able to see beneath the bus. An extended skirt (which varies in length) will bring the body line closer to the line on the service door increasing the total side profile of the bus.
Thank you for providing that knowledge!!! Love your channel by the way
I think the font on the bottom is impact. What is the font on the top? That says the title of the district?
I think this could be the font.
fonts2u.com/roadgeek-2005-series-b.font?ptext=Charles+County+Schools+&size=3
I mean, in Charles county schools, it is bold.
Hey, could you do a quick drive with this bus just like what you did for your Thomas and IC.
That sucks. In nj they allow the steering wheel controls for the lights. Nj has the most specd buses in so many different forms
How did the after Market ac come out is it in a video
Which Air conditioning brand you want on it?
R Ad honestly, I have no idea. I told the dealer I wanted A/C so they are having it installed; not sure of the brand the aftermarket company uses. Will let you know as soon as I know!
Don’t get MCC just get ACT or Trans Air
That is very beautiful bus what do you do with these buses I love those rims
Did you get any new buses
Hey You were the 6 speed manual transmission from Eaton Fuller with shifting
You should get the hybrid electric bus
brian mohammed stay tuned 👀
@brian mohammed new diesel and hybrid diesel is replacement for old diesel
Will you be getting the 360 cameras installed on it? Also will you be getting a chrome grill?
PaulTech to be determined. The working this bus is performing doesn’t really need the 360 system, but I’ll probably do a back up camera. The chrome grill will likely be added to this bus ONLY because you can’t get the bug screen with out.
How much doues a New Buss cost $$$ 2020 IC CE
The base model cost $28,900
That's not bad for that cost. @@aleax5670
Does is spelled wrong and bus needs 1 s to get rid of now
HD cross views wobble up and down though.
Not mine
@@SwannBus the buses in our district don’t have the busboy mirrors that have the support under the mirror so they wobble up and down. Any bus in our district made after 08 has busboy mirrors.
Could you tell me the price please ?
