The short of it is, I bought my tickets then called the airline to secure a bike spot on both flights and paid for the bike. Got the bike box from a store. Packed the bike and flew with it.
I always enjoy your touring videos, they are always so helpful. What exactly are the cubes that you are using in your rear panniers, I'm curious? Have a fun tour!
Hi, love the channel. Thank you. I have recently purchased a Kona Sutra and have been fitting it out. Like you, I have a click-stand. Also, like you I have an Abus Bordo lock. I have channeled out the back of the case to allow me to mount it on the fixings at the front of the downtube by the bottom bracket. Best wishes.
Love your videos. So pleased you have made a new one. Be sure to make videos of your tour around Poland showing how beautiful Poland is. Also did you know Kona bikes were in trouble, but now bought back by the guys who started it from the venture capitalists who had bought it and were ruining the brand? Those tyres still look like new, lots of life left in them! Many more thousands of miles/kms before you need to change them.
Thank you for watching and for the comment. Yes, videos of my ride are forthcoming. I have a lot of footage. Glad to know you think the tires look brand new. They have done an amazing job thus far. Yes, I've heard the great news about Kona! I'm very glad the brand will continue on. It's such an amazing bike.
I hope that you are prepared for heat and heavy rainfall. Being a resident of Scandinavia, I know from experience that the weather in Central Europe can be both extreme and unpredictable during the summer months. Best of luck, Agnieszka.
Super!! Have a great time in the old country ;) I emigrated like 20 years ago or so. All that bike infrastructure, like you're showing in IG - was not even in conception phase back then :D Also people didn't do so much sports like nowadays. EU accession, open minds and hard work of Polish society, definitely boosted that civilizational transformation in such short time span (despite, some populists are keepin' on denying and dissing it). Also beginning of May was very, very cold this year. Szerokiej drogi!! Mam wielką nadzieję, że wrzucisz jakieś filmy z tej podróży!!!
Hey I know that bike! Lol! It's looking a lot better than the last time I saw it. I love your set up!! I have the Orca 45s. Awesome bags! I'm interested in getting one of those Arkel handlebar bags like you have, or maybe the roll bags, when I have some money to spare. Is your handlebar bag waterproof? Also want to get one of those 360 cameras too. Ah the list gets longer lol! Hope you are having an amazing trip!!
You certainly do know the bike. 😂 Yes, the main compartment of the bag is waterproof, the pockets are not, but it does come with a waterproof cover. Yes, the list of items we can buy is always a lengthy one.
It's everything I need and nothing more. If I started bringing less, I'd have to compromise on comfort and I don't want to. I'm middle aged and I'm past being uncomfortable if there's no reason for it.
Thanks for the video showing what you pack. Can you tell me where you picked up the reflective triangle? Looking forward to the videos from Poland - we are trying to decide where to tour next year anfd Poland was on the list.
Thanks for watching. Poland is a fantastic country to ride in, it surpassed my expectations. I found the reflective triangle on Amazon. It's from the Vincita brand.
What sort of cassette do you have? I have just replaced mine for a 11-36, from the standard 11-32, as I generally ride in very hilly areas? the sutra is such a comfortable touring bike
@@WheelsonaBike Aah! No wonder! I've watched your shorts, and was wondering if I've missed out on the long form videos. Now I know I haven't. Waiting for them. I have missed out on your previous live streaming episodes because of the time difference, but watched them later.
Great content thank you ! Can you tell me the Brand/make of you REAR VIEW MIRROR please? I’ve been looking for one like that, that’s NOT a bar-end type because, like you I have my shifters there. Been following your travels, lots of fun and insight. Especially where you put your lock, a great idea I copied. Again, thank you and Enjoy 😎
Thank you for watching. I'm glad you found something of interest. The mirror is a cheap Amazon one that I had originally used when crossing Canada. The original rubber band snapped, but I just use shock cord now in its place. The mirror itself is great. Here's an affiliate link for it amzn.to/3UTTomP.
Here's the info: ABUS BORDO 6000 FOLDING LOCK COLOUR: BLACK SIZE: 90cm. It's a good lock and I've not had any issues with it. It's a bit short sometimes and I pair it with a cable lock as a result.
How much does the bike weigh with all the gear loaded? It must be 60 lbs. Pretty hard for even a guy to peddle into a headwind. On the other hand, the fact that a woman is riding instead of a heavy guy means it can be loaded up more.
No idea how much it all weigs as I haven't put it on a scale. But let's assume this: 20kg for bags and 13kg for the bike. So that's about 70 lbs. It's heavy, but I get strong fast. And it's as light as it'll get.
@@WheelsonaBike Thanks for the reply. 70 lbs! That's a lot of weight for a petite woman to pedal, especially into the wind. At least Poland doesn't have too many hills.
@AndyYoung789 Poland has mountains and steep hills. I'm not petite, and I am strong. Also, headwind is not a daily occurance. I had plenty of it while crossing Canada with even more load and I managed. Strength develops with time.
@@Dancinbear1995 I must have misunderstood this. I was wondering why she needed to carry so much water, but now I think she might have said waterproof bags, and I heard water bags?
@MattScottMusic I never said water or waterproof, I did state they are 25 L panniers and clearly show what I pack in them. I'm not sure where the misunderstanding with water carrying lies.
@@WheelsonaBike I must have misheard. When I was watching the video I thought you said you had “two 17.5 litre water bags”. That’s why I was surprised. It sounded like a lot of water.
Approximately 20kg distributed in the bags. But I started jn the mountains in early May, and had to carry cold weather clothing and a thick sleeping bag. The weight would be lower without those items.
Nice of you to take us along with you.
Thanks for coming along.
Great set up. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your touring. All the best Pete 🚴

Very well thought out and organised on the bike. Best wishes to you.

I have a set called Gonex. Bought it on Amazon.
Very interesting video! The first video like this I see, where someone FINALLY uses the Schwalbe Marathon instead of having punctures all the time....
I love the tires, I had no punctures when I rode across Canada and I've been good so far on my current tour.
I use the same tires Thank you for showing how you set up your bike.
Thank you for watching.
@@WheelsonaBikeYESSS first change now after 10000km, not a single puncture at all 😊

Every other bicycle tourist I've met in Poland has had Ortlieb panniers. 😂

Great set up. I'm guessing you'd have to carry less food here in Europe as resupply must be easier than in Canada?
Yes. I buy as I go, but always have oats and a few dried soups available for dinner. Food has been easy to get here.

Hi! Thanks for your video. Do you attempt to say that using schwalbe marathon Tyres prevent you of having punctures? Are they tubeless?
Yes, they absolutely have. I've had none on these tires and people have had multiple when they rode across Canada. They are not tubeless.
AFIK they've built in an acupuncture insert.
could you tell me what pannier rack you are using, Im looking for a new one but they most are flared at the back I would rather a flat top. thanks

@@WheelsonaBike thank you so much!!
It seems you have heavier items in the front panniers and lighter items in the rear. Was this intentional? Is this best for bike handling?
No, my front panniers are not heavier at all. And yes, I intentionally separate any scented or food items from my camping gear and my clothing.
Where do you keep the corkscrew? We tour in France .....
Easy, I don't drink alcohol. 😉 Weight savings right there! 😂

what size are those tires if I can ask? do you have much clearance between the tires and the mudguards?
700 x 45c. There's clearance between the fenders, but not a lot of it as the original tires on the bike were 700 x 40c. But there's absolutely no rub.
