Stayed here 5 days on our honeymoon in feb 2020, probably one if not the most unique hotel we have ever experienced, video brings back a lot of joyful memories.

Wow! Beautiful experience, the elephants encounter is incredible. They seem calm, not stressed and loved. Really nice to rescue those elephants and give them a second chance. This is in very good place on my bucket list! Can’t wait for Soneva Kiri next week. Stay safe out of the nasty virus

Elephants Don’t Give Rides or Perform Tricks Willingly
Elephants only allow people to ride them when constantly threatened with physical violence and psychological punishment. They’re typically beaten into submission with bullhooks-sharp steel-tipped weapons resembling fireplace pokers-and mahouts (trainers) always have one in hand.
To train baby elephants to be subservient in the tourism industry, they’re often forcibly separated from their mothers, tied down and immobilized with ropes, and beaten mercilessly, sometimes for days on end. During these spirit-breaking sessions, some of them die.
Those who survive are forced to live the rest of their lives in servitude, lugging tourists around-sometimes for hours on end, or even when they’re exhausted or injured

"They seem" gtfoh. they have been tortured and that's the only way they appear docile. they live under constant threat and fear. elephants are wild animals that don't want nasty ass humans near them. what is wrong with everyone?

@@bbuck1bbuck1then do something about it besides talking. It's easy to complain on a travel video and takes little effort. If you hate what's happening, then change it like starting your own organization to rescue these elephants, call the hotel to discuss alternatives, join several groups who peacefully seek animal safety solutions.

I was disturbed at the sight of the young lady riding the elephant. If anyone wants to support elephant rescue, I suggest looking into the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Nairobi, Kenya which has been doing so for 40+ years. (Plenty of TH-cam videos on them). Their work is outstanding and if you’re in South Africa, you can even visit them. I highly recommend watching a video about them. You’re heart will melt and you’re perception changed. Other than my opening opinion, another great presentation 👍🏻

Thank you for sharing your experience in such a beautiful location. For commenters who are so upset about the treatment of the elephants, it's easy to complain anonymously in a travel video comment section. It takes little to no effort. If you actually want change, then you'll do it...start your own organization to help rescue animals, be active in multiple established organizations in a peaceful way beyond just donating and signing petitions, calling the hotel to request a discussion on alternative solutions to this form of leisure activity, etc.

I don't know if it already came up or not, but I just wanna mention something that came to my attention: You refer to off-road vehicles as Jeep, which is not correct, as long as the vehicle is not actually a Jeep. Jeep is a US manufacturer of off-road vehicles, like the Jeep Wrangler. In this particular video (13:11) the vehicle you refer to as Jeep is actually a Land Rover Defender, Land Rover being the name of the British manufacturer. Jeep has come a long way and established itself as a Brand which is synonymous for off-road vehicles, that's why it is sometimes used in that way, but not on purpose. But there are other brands which are on the same level as Jeep, namely Land Rover. Just wanted to mention that. Stay safe and enjoy your trips. I am always looking forward to your videos :-)

So beautiful! Your video is so soothing like nothing is happening in the world despite all the outbreaks right now. I live in U.S and hope everything will go back to normal soon. How is this traveling possible for you? There are so many countries are restricting people from entering. Many airlines have shut down or canceled flights. How did you do it?

Things to do to afford such things:
    1. Learn meditation (which easily can replace holidays when done correctly)
    2. Look up a trip you'd make in your yearly holidays at work every year
2.1 Meditate in your holidays at home daily.
    3. You save what you'd spend on that trip and exactly mark what you've saved as if you'd booked that trip
Every few years you empty your savings account for one of the trips the lux travel expert does every saturday.
Often they accept credit only, so speak to your bank beforehand that you're about to book a 15000+ USD hotel and describe that you've saved for that. Then they usually don't have any problems booking that on your account after it appears on your card.

Enjoyed the review as usual Not sure it would be easy to get around the camp if you had a mobility problem however. I am writing off my own travel plans for 2020 due to the obvious global health issues. Fortunately I can always re-watch some of your archived videos which will hopefully keep me going until next year.

I'm from Thailand. Please don't support animal cruelty by riding elephants. They belong in their home, the jungle. Any extra weight is bad for their backs. Otherwise, I'm a huge fan of your videos.

Then you shouldn't ride horses, donkeys or camels as well. they are even more smaller than elephant. These elephants are like pets so they like to live with people and they could not live in the jungle. But there are a lot of wild elephants as well and they live in the jungle. I think these elephants are in a good way of life. I don't like when I people take elephant walking in the street in a big city for making money.
