- Long ago, Bungie claimed that there were a lot of hidden secrets on Sandtrap that people still have not found. We at Gold Team decided to set out and find what those secrets may be. Since then we've discovered several secret rooms, secret symbols and shapes, and even the secret behind how the air vents and the guardians work. So for this video, we've decided to revisit all that and make one big collection of every secret we know of on Sandtrap. Enjoy!

I remember this being posted all over the Bungie forums, I myself was part of the group searching for the "secrets". Same with epitaph, spent a couple hours looking for the supposed secret there. If there were secrets, it would've been found in the coding and revealed long ago I would think.
All lot of this is just severely overthinking little quirks in the way the map was designed. 99% of these aren't secrets or have any hidden meaning.

I've never spent so much time on secrets and easter eggs on any video game besides halo 3. it had so many secrets I loved it. oh and that thumbnail with the hayabusa armor and katana brought a tear to my eye lol I remember finally getting that security armor and katana I was so happy. God the memories haha

Near the shotgun bunker, on the ramp down to mid. Under the lip where the sand is flowing into (I think you can crouch under there). There's three hidden invisible items.
You can see the little forge blips and move them around on Halo Online but they don't have invis textures. If you open their properties they are tagged as unknown.
No idea what they do.
I only knew the elephant one.

I firmly believe that the "party chat" system is what killed the online gaming experience that most of us grew up with
daveice20 I agree actually. Before party chat existed, people were basically forced to talk to each other in game chat. It's how people made friends on Xbox early on and thus communities were built. But now a days, everyone just sits in party chat and there's not many new people you can talk to.
+generalkidd Exactly how I feel, it also made the game feel much more competitive as you could "hear" your opponent talk within range; I'm actually still friends with some guys I met over a decade ago on the original Xbox and we kept talking&playing throughout the years.. It's nearly impossible to make a friendship like that now-a-days, gaming has become a very anti-social experience.

Anybody else know about the thing where if your on split screen, you go to this little gal between rocks and then look down and you are watching what your friend is seeing in there half of the screen, it’s realy weird, I can’t tell if it’s a bug, because if it is it’s a very weird one. It’s hard to explain.

In 2012 i was playing on forge and i flew up to the big ship and didnt die or get stopped then i flew inside and there were a bunch of spartans facing a bunch of elites, it was a forge map so i think it was probably modded but i didnt download it in a weird way i just got it off a profile so

good old halo 3!
symbols are leftover textures or decals, hidden due to map design, and lack of quality. the air vent controller is just a physical activator. it sits there just to remind the game of its exact width, and it also show the game where the height effective ends. something similar spawns under all equipment too.
the "secret room" we're just cut corners due to binge deciding on a straight corridor with only exits, and less hiding.
the "black hole" is just the same as under the map, it just goes out of a data area, and despawns, or explodes on impact. it exists due to how it was made, just a unedited mesh that was forgot.
correct on the "Guardian's, but whomever called it do Vinci way back was just making names. all it is, is just the script info and controller for the mines.

The shapes were for destiny, the shapes are the exact shapes of the ghosts in Destiny

During a game on Sandtrap, a stray bullet flies off into the sunset, suddenly the person who shot it gets blown up by a massive laser beam.

u didnt look at the "gap" that allows you to see the other players point of view
+l1ama1icker I did actually. But that ability to look at other screens only works when you're doing splitscreen multiplayer.
there's another Easter egg on sandtrap in a corner of the main building(really hard to describe, unless a video) but you can see the other players screen through your screen by looking into this corner. it's the building in the center, by the default grav lift, go up it and go on the side where there's a multiple cut-out ledges and look in the corner and now you can see the other players screen.
On the original Halo 3 Sandtrap there is a way to look at Player 2's screen while on Player 1. Go to the center building with the tunnel in it. On the outside on the side with the air lifts, one of the building indention's has a gap at the bottom. Through this gap you can look onto the other players screen.
Do the glitch where u can find a mongoose mother cycle.

you can do that teleporter glitch solo or if youre the host if you slam your face into the wall and spawn a teleporter. it might take a few tries but with changing your angle and placement youll spawn it on the other side. recievers work best
