  • The Sheriff in Fulton County, GA failed to pay $1,000,000 to a security contractor who had been providing jail guards at the run down county jail.
    No pay, no work. The contractor pulled the jail guards out for non-payment.
    Retired GA Sheriff Scott Berry joins Phil ‪@InsideTheLaw‬ to break this fiasco down.
    Also, Attorney and ‪@InsideTheLaw‬ regular Rachel Kaufman talks about a tragic jail death case she he handing as conditions at the jail remain unlivable.
    Attorney Ashley Merchant shares some spending information she dig up that explains, in part, where the Sheriff is spending taxpayer money that could be used to pay thee guards.

      Yes here in the uk our Health Service the NHS and the Department for Juctice so His Majesty Prison gets fleeced by these agencies this been going on for maybe 15yrs. An actual nurse will train up through the NHS and then transfer to an agency only to work in the hospital she/he came up in. People really do think our healthcare service is the best in the world the truth is it was but these agencies are robbing the government blind. The private agencies who work the prison are no way as good as the officers who came up the ranks. I know there’s a hustle with agencies and schools regarding the class assistants but they do a good job so I’m told.

      What I don’t understand is was the agency workers getting paid the same or less than their country counterparts. I’m thinking they might have been getting less as the sheriff said he’s employed some of the agency workers who are now earning “a liveable wage” why were they not getting a liveable wage before. I guess I need to watch the podcast properly tomorrow it’s sounding like a great conversation!

    I am so glad to see this finally come to light. There is no excuse for Fulton County from the judges down to the prosecution and now the jail-prisoners are not getting fed or getting water or getting showers which are basic human needs. The federal government needs to take a look at Fulton County.

    • @Carol32216
      @Carol32216 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That is the truth. Just look at their bodies, not being fed, no medication, and if the prisoners don’t pay for meal or meds they will let them die or put them on death row, etc. They don’t know what jail they are in or are given a fictitious name of a jail that doesn’t exist and if you call they never heard of them and not one person will believe you. It is still going on and who investigates each and every single cell or kitchen or checks the bodies to see if they’ve been beaten etc I see nothing of their human rights being questioned. Check it out.

She said he's detoxing and just wants to go to the hospital for drugs. He died by morning, from a bleeding ulcer, that a simple blood pressure would have revealed a problem! The deal about the third party labor contract is just this simple. I worked for twenty years with company's that used temp services for part of our labor. In areas where finding competent help is difficult (about everywhere I guess) it is just simpler to tell company x, I need 20 people, please have them show up Monday morning. You pay MORE than you would have to as a straight up hire, but it is just way, way easier than dealing with recruitment and turnover. The cardinal rule in this situation is that as the company, or in this case Fulton Co Jail, you DO NOT "poach" these people from the third party that is supplying them to you. Sounds to me this is basically what has happened here.

    Most cities have city police departments who answer calls in the city limits. Deputies answer calls in the county.

      @@bettyechols6405 Different places have different hierarchies for these Departments. In CT the only "Sheriffs" we have are actually State Marshall's. We have local and state police.

    Fulton Co has a seemingly unlimited budget for prosecuting a former POTUS, while their correctional facilities are starved of resources. That's criminality worthy of jail time at Fulton Co jail.

    I think he is not really buying flowers for deceased inmates or officers but using any one who died and went to that flower shop because money is being funneled elsewhere and taxpayers are paying for it while inmates are getting the shaft. I’m just a nobody but something is crooked here???

    There are certain functions of the government that should not be left to “for profit” private businesses to administer. Anything connected to incarceration of individuals directly or indirectly should be done by civil servants not private security.

    Good morning, great show thank you! Phil, have you heard of the Zachariah Anderson case in Wisconsin??? I believe an innocent man was sent to prison. It was 2 years ago and it still breaks my heart... You might've seen people use the #FreeZachariahAnderson 🤟🏼 around the law sphere of the internet?
