    I'd only ever ridden the Intamin Gyro Swing and KMG Afterburner before so when I first came across one of these Huss Frisbees it looked very old fashioned! You could tell it was an evolution of the classic swinging pirate ship ride, as the swing drive system looks almost identical! Still a very fun ride!
    And working in engineering myself - yeah you don't want us talking directly to the customers!

    So I rode a traveling HUSS Frisbee here in FL six years ago. If I recall, someone mentioned that it needed city power to swing high as generator power couldn’t produce high swings. Also, just like the on ride video, the shake of the gondola felt weird when the keel touched the tires.

    • @ryantheridemechanic

      everything is flexible and moves on those drive systems, this the shake you feel.

    On a Huss topspin I worked on, we had a bit of fibreglass that was molded to the shape of the seat. Im not 100% on how it was used as I was an operator and not technician, but there was a steel bars and a plastic dome on the end. This was the seat sensor checker. I vaguely remember that they would put it in the seat and it was adjusted so that it was very close the the closed position, but not quite there. So in theory, the ride should not say the restraint was closed with this in place. Basically making sure that the ride would only give the all clear when the restraints were below a certain amount.

    • @ryantheridemechanic
      @ryantheridemechanic  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @@DavidPlant1985 that device on the topspin I worked with was used for the bleed down test. Close the restraints and shut off the power and the restraint can’t raise more than 10mm in 10minutes (I think it was 10 min) if it moved too far then the restraints had to be tagged out. Never used ours to check the limit switches at all.

    • @DavidPlant1985
      @DavidPlant1985 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@ryantheridemechanic That might have been what it was used for, but Im fairly sure they used it to check if the ride would give an all clear signal with it in place as well. This was almost 20 years ago though, so I might be recalling incorrectly.

Because trust me Im going to watch you and speculate on the issue as you fix it. Just tell me so I can learn, I wont tell the other guests they are usually stupid acting and panic easy. I only rode Cedar Point's Huss maXair twice. Of course they have to break records with the biggest and baddest every time.
    As I mentioned, the OTSR's are thick and can constrain you too much i.e. you might not be able to breathe is why I don't. That doesn't happen to everyone but I don't want it to happen to me. You can see Magnum though.
    I'll tell you this much it's huge & heavy compared to Kings Island's Delirium. I rode that thing on an empty stomach and didn't realize how much faster it swung and spun, but made sense after I thought about it. It's the only ride I wasn't losing breath on that I wanted it to stop lol
    (I think I accidentally clicked thumbs down before I clicked thumbs up if you get one of those lol When I filled out surveys in the past I kept complaining to TH-cam they shouldn't actually show thumbs down publicly unless you have a ridiculous amount of subs and comments that you don't even read i.e. not fair to grass roots creators and rude especially when people don't comment to back it up. I guess they listened. I'm convinced I was also one of the first to manually create the end screen links. I always make a photoshop screen so they don't go over the video, but it's fun for me to do)

    When the Huss Frisbee at my home park first opened, (I wasn't there, heard the story from multiple employees) someone thought it was a good idea to have a combine hot dog eating and spinning on the Frisbee. Pretty sure this was an employee night kind of event. They just ran the spinning part, no swinging. Whoever could keeps it down the longest won, I guess.
    In line with your large guest story, I'm aware of one instance where the ride faulted mid cycle due to large guest with limit switch right on the edge. Is it possible to talk about things that rides do to self rescue? You spoke recently on the support lines added to the concrete for the ride that got stuck and recently some friends got to experience the backwards/relaunch on Velocicoaster where the ride moves backwards out of the second launcher to allow it to approach with some momentum. Very rare situations where you need more info from them such as when, where, how, a problem happens with intermittent problems. But many tines the repair order had "idiot customer, and you are an idiot for not telling them how they are an idiot" written on it, with my tech number on it.

    From what I can tell at the ol' Wikipedia [citation needed], HUSS is the only manufacturer to call theirs 'Frisbees'. And since they were the first to make 'em, that's what the general word is. Given the world 'Frisbee' is a registered trademark of Wham-O, this is of questionable legality. Different industries, I guess. The most common make these days is Zamperla, who calls theirs 'Discoveries'. SBF Visa calls theirs 'Dance Parties' and Intamin probably has the best and most informative name: 'Gyro Swing'. Figures.
