I first watch drongo when AOEIV was still in early access, and the amount of research in the game he went through is astounding. So I think meta/strategy/tactic wise, he pretty much knows what is going on, just like with other pro players
I really struggle when they put this much pressure on me as Japanese, I have a lot to learn from these games and players! What a great defense from Crackedy, I didn't think he could actually defend, come back and win!
On the topic of Yumi Ashigaru, I don't see why people are skeptical of the unit. Yes, it normally has one less damage than archers, but japanese have Bannermen. That one less attack is always compensated when a Bannerman is present. This translates into a cheaper unit that is trained faster, allowing for the japanese player to have his "archer" ball quicker.
Japan really does seem to compliment the turtle enjoyers of rts. Everything is consolidated and it builds up and not out so it's easier to protect. Fun civ.
The Japs actually need a nerf lol. Bannermen = Buffed damage, deflective armour means plenty of incoming damage just means f*ckall, and the monks can give another damage buff WHILE decreasing damage done by the enemy. How many times must the opponent get disadvantaged??? I really like the Japs but when they've got a serious advantage it feels lame winning with them 🫣

I was about to exit the video thinking that crackedy was about to lose but realized I'm still at the halfway mark on the timeline. Decided to stick around. Awesome casting too! The consistency of your energy all throughout 30 minutes made watching this match even better!

I just dont get what happened here. Every game I play against Japanese they just pump out so many units, and here Crackedy even has a big villager lead at the end but... the units just dont come? What am I missing? Edit: shoulda just kept watching, he reaches exactly the production I was expecting just later than anticipated. What a comeback! xD
The Japs are overpowered actually. I mean they were behind on EVERYTHING including getting their base smashed in and they still come out tops. They're too much.
the strat of stalling is for your team in defense to do everything you can to stall the enemy's advance and not the other way around that was a Godsend for the JP side. it wasn't a stalemate, rus definitely overwhelmed JP but rus suddenly stopped instead of just not letting JP getting recovered. also the rus not destroying the JP walls is really amusing, the walls the rus made became worthless because JP can just demolish their walls for an instant access saves them more time
the first raid with mounted samurai was poorly defended. At the same time FAQ didnt bother to raid himself or extend his map control. I feel like he could have just chocked Crackedy by placing some towers at the outside golds and perhaps moving more into cav too. I dont think spears was a good call.
Also to note that Rus went for a very heavy ranged focus, built a lot of defensive infrastructure at the front but forgot the most important aspect of defending against full melee swarm comps: walls. Had he walled in front of that forward keep with one, maybe even multiple layers of reinforced palisade walls and sat his crossbows behind there, Japan would've lost. Same applies to the base walling. I used to be a Rus main before the expansion; layering reinforced Palisades instead of stone walling is a very good alternative and saves you both stone and vills!
At 24:23 FAQ was tripple the military . He could have just walked south with his army and do crazy economic damage , but instead he just retreated and waited for crackedy to just roll over him .
@@welfdeath True, but you don't always have Intel about what situation the enemy is in. I could bet FAQ was fearful of a melee army swarming him if he tried a flank, so he stayed put and built up defenses at the front

Low range and hp, long queue time for training. If queue time is 5-6 seconds it would be worth it, but twice the time of a longbow is bad.
