  • Here is a golf backswing fault to look out for. In this golf video, Ian Sadler explains how a golfers trail arm can sometimes be the cause of many wayward golf shots. The trail arm, or right arm for a right handed player, can sometimes be mistaken for looking like it's in quite a good position, when in fact, it's in a very tight position. It's quite easy to check and fix and is one of the most secretive faults in a golfers backswing.
The problem is, when golfers activate their wrist action in their backswing they tend to simply fold their trail arm instead of rotating it. This in turn, makes the right arm very tight and too close to the body on the downswing, which makes it very difficult to reach the golf ball through impact.
Try to keep your trail arm almost straight until you are well into your backswing, this will also encourage a better turn of your shoulders in your backswing, which is vital for power and consistency. Give it a try and I'm sure you will hit much better golf shots. Regards Ian.

Hi Ian another great tip thanks. I think I do this which causes me to get tight and trapped and inevitably throw club over the top just to get back to ball. Will give this a go. Great content again 👍
