- We did this only once. and we won't be doing this again.. here. Next time we'll have permission from the owner of property we go and do this on. Apparently, it's highly offensive to some people and we were reported for our illegal actions of which I didn't realize were illegal even. But the authorities have gotten in touch with us for the crimes commited and now that that's been resolved, this is what I have to show for the lost time and money. Nearly lost my license and car. I have 3 kids and a wife to take care of so I didn't want that kind of trouble. Glad the damage wasn't worse for the land I was on or my family. Sorry for whomever I may have offended.
@eilif9 Thanks! Actually, the intake is 'pulled' per say. It has the stock plastic ducting removed and the silencer box removed and capped off where the hole would be. And yes, the sound is much better. Was done years prior to this vid. The exhaust is a Flowy knockoff. There's a trick to the exhaust tone but it's secret :)
It's a custom install by a local guy. It was a flowmaster knock off. I once had a tuner glasspack muffler. sounds just like a rice burner.. which is weird when your driving an suv.. but it makes sense when you realize the engine's origin for this things are from mazda's euro 626. Anyway, I didn't like it for this application so I switched to what you hear in this video. A flowmaster knock off. it was like flo-pro or something.
panicmech i have a 2000 sportage and want to know how capable are these suvs? im wanting to lift it so badly and dont know where to start. exhaust wise i cut the muffler and did a side pipe with a 4 inch tip (sounds amazing for a 4 cylinder)
Shock swaps themselves do not add lift (airshocks excluded). He would need either longer springs or spring spacers (which are not body lift spacers). I agree though. KYB's are good choice of shocks. Try to upgrade to the premium sets though. You don't go to the town's best bistro and order from the value menu. ;)

there's a 4x4wire forum that you might want to check out for off road aftermarket advice. As far as I know there isn't 1st gen Sportage steel bumper. I've seen sportages online with the bumper cover removed and leaving the bumper support on. my aftermarket brush guard is actually a three piece (that covers the headlights too but I took them off) made by company called WAAG. paid $650 yrs ago. not strong. most sportages with steel bumpers i've seen online are custom made. probably modfrom toyotas

I've been shopping round for a 1/10th Team Losi, but they don't make as man of the stadium trucks as they used to. Noticed you've got a sportage in the driveway of one of your vids. Yours? Doesn't cost much to lift them.. about $300 for a DIY'er w/ the tools

Nice sporty man. I just got mine or 2 weeks now and its great I just bought a roof basket for it. Iwanna know what kind of work done in your suspension ? whats the name of the lifts? I like how your tires are sticking out what are the same of those monsters rims/tires ? Thanks in advance =] and yes I have trouble finding off road trails here in Toronto, Canada I cant drive 2hrs for trails its too long for me. I usually offroad in some random construction sites or wherever ders mud lol
Anybody know where to get a suspension lift for a Sportage? I don't want body spacers like upyourkia. Any help would be fantastic in finishing my second build!

@azguitarist67 UPYOURKIA is what I used on mine actually and they are NOT BODY spacers. They are strut spacers. There difference is that these go on top of the front struts therefore extending the front suspension. You can go as far as 4" of lift. His product is good quality and does great! It survived my other video when I jump a snow bank and get 5 ft of air and slam it to the concrete. The product is solid.

Jack Rock . Lift is from upyourkia.com and the wheels are used I bought locally from someone . Bolt pattern is 5x5.5 like some older Ford, zuki, dodge vehicles. I run a group on Facebook called Micro Monsters. Welcome to join and ask more questions there:)

@PainBaller03 search online for "upyourkia" and there's an email on the site. He custom fabs the lift spacers for the front struts and tell him I sent ya. He knows my username. The wheels are 5 on 5.5 steel wheels with an unknown offset, but they work great. I bought them used and painted them metallic black. The rear suspension is made of replacing the stock springs with jeep TJ's and 99 toyota Rav4 shocks for the longer travel. check out 4x4wire forums and find the sportage section.
