this little amp would look good in a home system setup pair up with some nice vintage Sony home speakers nice enough to display cheap enough to not worry about getting broken you know what I mean
yeap... hole saw... but FIRST you need to KNOW what part gets hotter: toroid or the sides? no point in cooling the luke-warm parts and for this you need to run it full bore, in the heat of a summer day, 40ºC minimum in the car/trunk, and its also good to have hi pwr resistors, or hi pwr 12 or 15 inchesrs
I’m not saying people should buy this but I love that we have Big D to test them and see if they’re worth the money. After this video I would buy this amp if I needed it and needed to save money.
Well... technically, it performed as advertised, and then some! A lot of their compatriots didn't even make the low bar of advertised power. I agree that longevity is still a question mark. But, it's pretty clear there was an engineer that knew what they were doing involved at some point. It would be fairly easy for a handy soldering hand to repair this, or sub out known brand name parts if one wanted to. Also, I would love for that clear acrylic cover to be the standard. Manufacturers should be proud of their design.
Guessing approximately 800 rms Bridged....😊... I usually take total fuse rating times 10 volts because of the loss of efficiency.... gets close usually.... it did better than expected

I was wondering about why they used 2 x 40 amp fuses with that 300 watt rating. With those fuses you would be able to hit over 1000 watts at 14 volts. SQ is always a factor too, it's what I aim for.
With the model being ZM2502, Makes me think it translates to 250w x 2 channels. It certainly didn't do terrible in testing. The 40a x2 fuses made me think it should do something more in that ballpark.
@jamesplotkin4674 Exactly. Back in the day I paid out the nose for a Kicker ZX amp, and also JL Audio's 1st-gen class-D 500-watt monoblock. But the reliability and sound quality was superb. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't bank on any quality coming from Temu.
Like I always say, the car audio world is a huge mess of brands and non-brands and you never know what you may get. There are alot of fake brands that don't do much power at all and then we have fake brands that actually do for a great price. It's a risky business.
It is risky especially when you cant see what's inside till you get it Stateside. The thing about it is.......This "cheap" stuff is getting pretty damn good in the last 4yrs. Maybe the restoration of electronic components (after Covid) plays a factor in the grand scheme of it all. Time will tell.
So what this basically shows us is that most US car audio brands with a few exceptions are nothing more than marketing companies that probably outsourced design and manufacturing while they focus on making it pretty.
As usual...with everything....best business model, no R&D to pay for, very little overhead its basically what every single company on Earth does except the really BIG ones that sue the heck outta everyone & try hard to keep every aspect of it in house, like repair even. Thought everyone knew doing everything possible no matter the morals or ethics IS "business" ! And if u can NOT get caught the illegal things are very profitabel!...SHAREHOLDERS DON'T GIVE A FU*K!
Very few US owned car audio manufacturers anymore. Those three are usually offer proprietary designs along with service and warranty support. You'll get nothing with this amp. Even fewer US based companies actually build their products here anymore. Tru Technology, Linear Power, some higher end JL Audio subs and I think Orion has started making one amp model here again.

That's a lot of class AB power for $100. If these guys would have been around back in the day, they probably would have given Rockford Fosgate a run for it's money. I don't think I would buy it to put in a daily driver, but it would be nice to just have in something like a demo setup.

Looking at the size of output stage and power supply when I saw the ratings I was like nah it’s gonna demolish that. 5242 3263 transistors are big high power BJTs and there’s 8 of them. They’re very popular devices found in most of the giant Asian class H amps. With a bigger power supply it would do considerably more power. Looks like a plain simple dual complimentary class AB Also the Elna caps are real XD. Unmistakable patented crimp on the top

It has the wrong output transistors! It's clearly silk screened on the PCB C5200 which means 2SC5200/2SA1943. Would be interesting to see the numbers this beast can do with the correct ones
I think its high time we get a name brand amp of equivalent power to go toe to toe with the mystery meat. Would love to see you get some of the current uber high dollar stuff into the lab as well, Helix, Focal, Morel Scanspeak, Seas, etc etc
The problem with amplifiers with transparent covers is that they never add illumination to truly show off the guts. Then you also can't just put it somewhere to be showcased by natural light because the sunlight will eventually fade the acrylic.

Not that big of a deal on an amp like this, but maybe something to consider on an amp you spent like $500 on. It's something simple and inexpensive enough that they should include it from the factory. A cooling fan should come on pretty much every A/B amp, crazy how they didn't put one on something with this kind of power, but perhaps it might not have allowed them to keep it at the $100 mark.
@@ranchosdelnorte i havent had any problems with heat on old amps, and they never had a fan or slits for cooling, they were of good quality, the new compact amps on the other hand, they get hot as soon as they turn on, its better not to avoid installing a fan on them, i still dont trust them

Seems like a great opportunity to get into learning repair and modification too.
Truly surprising output for the price but it’s not destined for a long life. It needs a much larger mass of aluminum at its a/b class power level for passive cooling so without fans it will cook if used for long periods.

I'm not sure it's still up on Temu, but there used to be a class A/B that made painfully outrageous claims about output. I believe it claimed something on the order of 15,000-20,000 watts for about $125. You should test that one.

I got a offbrand class d 2k amplifier from Alibaba for 60$. I have it on 2 older ufo magnet fi q 12s at 1ohm and it’s putting out atleast 1000 watts if not more. It’s Definitely putting out more power than my audiocontrol 800.1 amplifier does. Which isn’t saying much but the Audiocontrol is a 400$ amp lol

Active cooling on this amp would be a simple mod with that clear plate adding a 12v slim fan

With six IRF1404 N-FET's, it can safely output 2000 Watts on the supply side.
there are 8 of them, so its like 2600w. Only about 1000w on the other side.
My 8k uses 8 of them per side (so 16 total) so yeah, lota powa

The matching 4 channel amps are also pretty nice . they have 2 gain adjustments and thats it .

With a hot spot at 302 degrees, I would think those joints would desolder themselves after a few times.
It's Fahrenheit but I agree that long term that would be the first place to check if it fails. Easy fix too.

Some thick thermal pads or thermal putty underneath the board would help soak the heat and a small fan on the acrylic cover.

Umm. When you did your bridged tests, the title card says 40hz but then you stated you were doing it in 1K. Should have tried it at 40hz.
