I'm new to planning, and I must say this is one of the best video related to planning for beginners. Thank you for this video and breaking down suggestions and ideas.
This is a really good beginner video. You show all the different options, and supplies. I wish I had this as reference when I first started. For those who feel their brains exploding, remember to just start with a couple of things. I first started collecting all the pretty stickers and washi tape on sale from Michael’s and Dollarama , and then couldn’t decide which to use because they were too pretty to write on, etc. So, I stopped buying and diying and started using what I have. Thanks for sharing, Lola xo
She's so awesome. I feel like she builds a friendship with her audience. I appreciate your video and the coupons tha you linked. This was very helpful. God bless your heart
excellent video, would have loved to have seen this back in 2014 when I first started buying way too many planners and stuff...the money I've wasted...I hope others will seek this video out...thanks for sharing.
I used to love using scrapbook paper to make full boxes and date cover ups when I first started planning! Will you ever show past planners so we can see how you first started decorating? :)
love this video. I've been planning since middle school like writing everything down for the week, then when I started youtube 6 years ago I went into more extreme planning lol. now this year I decided to make decorating a hobby and so excited for this planner community! it's so fun already
Lol... I'm here to see of I can learn anything that will help me, definitely not to copy or even be very similar because this is so not my style. (Im not a super decorator of my planners, I usually don't even use included stickers, lol.) But I feel like I will probably learn one or two things that will be very helpful.
Kat I feel your pain I am in a pretty similar position, with conflicts between my mental disorders. I find it very therapeutic to put stickers and add colour to the week, even if the well done is just for getting the laundry on.
I like the A5 ringbound binder filled with folded grid paper (graph and gradebook), and bullet paper with extra scrapbooky inserts like brochures from events, sticker pockets, and card colecter pockets. I kept the monthly calendars but ditched tbe daily meal planning. My weekly/ dailies are very simple 1p (half spread) horizontal. I use highlighters, brush pens, sharpie fine point, ball point, mechanical pencil, washi tape, semitransparent flags, and stickers (especially emoji faces but also one mambi book and gold bordered labels for quotes and verses). I customized a pack of patterned semitransparent dividers and use colorful plastic paperclips as bookmarks. I also already had a pack of symbol stamps and got a pack of stencils.
Thank you so much for breaking the plan with me. I am just starting out and I have been doing good so far but I want to do more and stay on top of it. I will make a list of what I need and write down how I want to do my planner. Thank you so much.😊😊😊😊
I'm getting my first Erin Condren planner next week and I have no idea how far this can go. I just got into watching plan with me videos and I was wowed. This video definitely showed me where I should start! Thank you! I was for the most part just learning the lingo and what pens to use so I don't smudge the pages :)
The Frixon pens are awesome! I first found them while buying school supplies at my local grocery store. I used them to do the employee time cards. Because I don’t like scratching mistakes out or using white out!
What do you do with your old planners once you to finish the year with it and it is full?? What do you do with all of those old pages? Do you throw them away & reuse the cover or do you keep them and store them somehow? (How??) Do you reuse your binder cover or get a new one each year?
LOL YES! it is easy to fall down the rabbit hole of planning! Target Dollar Spot doesn't carry stationery goodies like they used to a few years back .however it still has great items worth checking out! :-) Happy New Years!
Thank you for such a fantastic video for us newbies! It can be quite overwhelming! I love your binder to store your extra stickers. Could you please do a tutorial on how you made it and what supplies you used to complete it. Thank you again for such an informative video.
Hands down the best video! The best tips, very thorough, well explained and the savings!!!!! You have opened up the Pandora box for me girl. Now I’m only hoping I don’t get too much time out of my day to decorate my work planner, but if I do, and I’m at work, wouldn’t that be considered working? 😏
I am years late and stumbled across this video. This is very helpful! I just received my first Erin Condren life planner and I feel like I don’t know where to start.
Thank you for doing this video. I am restarting a planner after many many years. I used to plan so much stuff I drove my family nuts. I purchased a happy planner and have all the sticker books. I have also purchased weekly sets. It's so therapeutic and I love keeping track of my week.
You welcome!! :-) How exciting! I started with the first release of the Happy Planner before they had sticker books and some many options. So I agree the Happy Planner is a really fun option! You will enjoy it! Just don't stress yourself out to much, just think of it as a functional and creative outlet. :-)
I really enjoyed your video. I love the simplicity of it for a beginner like myself. I appreciate the tip of starting off with Target Dollar Spot 🎀. I just became familiar with this trend a couple of weeks ago. I am a scrapbooker, crafter and also a bargain shopper. I am a perfectionist and organizer so I believe a planner will help me to be more efficient with my time 💜. Thanks for sharing & blessings 🌹. I just subscribed to your channe.
I just started planning this year with an official planner. I have the Happy Planner vertical style from Micheal's I like it so far. I haven't gotten into the stickers or fun yet, I'm a little afraid to, but I know if I did it, I would be obsessed. Baby steps, I know. lol Great video!!
Hi dear, I'm Lee JiYu from the Channel Korean Milk Club by 이지유 , but I'm using the account of my stepfather, I loved the video. With a lot of stationery items for the planner, one more beautiful than the other. Keep up with good content, dear 💓☁️☁️☁️💓
i can not control myself i am all about planners i have like 20 of them at home and my kids love them they help my kid study and organize i think it's awesome and your videos are great i make my own planners and loom for advice and inspiration and i watched your video
This has to be the best by far newbies planning video. You explained everything very well. Having references made things make a lot of sense. I am not new to planning but I was also able to pick up some tips and tricks. Thank you for sharing.

I really loved watching and especially LISTENING to your presentation. Your voice is just amazingly calmative and your inner self reveals that your organization is not just a planner book, calendar, or lifestyle; but, it is reflective of your personality. So with that being said... you are the first planner subscription I've registered with to receive more of your helpful hints and suggestions.
I want to thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful comment! I really appreciate people like you who spread positivity to others! Have a wonderful day Ms. Valerie!
I love this video! I'm a 1st time viewer & I love your format & easy to follow suggestions. I would love to watch a video on how you made your sticker book!! It would really help newbies and those who struggle with organization. I can't wait to watch more of your videos!
absolutely best beginner planning video I've ever seen! thank you so much I just received my happy planner today and I'm so excited to start planning. this video is amazing.
What a great video, Jess! I always love when you talk and explain things. You are very easy to follow. Thank you for mentioning to start small. My collection has grown this past year and I love it. You're so right to get stuff that works personally. Planning is now so much fun and relaxing and a creative outlet =)
Love your planning tips. I'm used to keeping a planner for work and find myself needing create a planner for my personal life. I've found that mixing my work planner with my personal life just isn't working. Thanks loads.
wow! thank you so much for this vid. I just received my very first EC vertical planner, and was lost. can not ''CAN NOT'' afford to do every week in fancy planning. I am a scrapbooker and card maker so I have tons of that craft I can use. Like the idea of printing off stickers, so that will be my first save. thank you again for sharing.
Yes, I came from scraping first too! My first planner had a lot of pattern paper, washi and stamps. You can find people decorating a number of ways. I say just do what is fun and works for you. :-)
I'm new to the planning world and I'm so happy I happened to click a video on a Erin condren planner one day !! Now it's a full blown obsession and Etsy defiantly feeds my addiction as a kid I loved stickers and paper and pens so now I can live my dream as a child and still adult lol
I totally know you what you mean! LOL! Planning is so much more then just "planning" to me too! I am OBSESSED with all the goodies, stickers and accessories! Age is just a number! :-)
New subbie ~ your planner videos are so helpful!!! I love how you took the MAMBI stickers & made them into a sticker book. I have so many booklets I need to do that. Thanks for sharing! :)
Thank you so much and Welcome! I am so glad you liked my video! I am planning on doing a DIY video on that sticker booklet I made. Although I was not the first to do it, I looked up DIY Happy Planner Sticker book on TH-cam to get the ideas for mine. Hope that helps :-)
I just purchased a planner. I really look forward to seeing what I end up with, but I have to be careful bc I don't want to spend a lot. great video, tfs!
Can't believe I am new to this in 2019! I think it's fun! Glad I found your channel! I need to find inexpensive refills for the small 6 ring planner, can you suggest anything?
Hi! If you have a printer than I recommend printable inserts to refill your planner. You can find freebies on Pinterest or Etsy.com has a ton of shops that offer printables. I believe they are affordable is because once you download the file you can always print them again. HTH :-)
Hi. I am fairly new to the planner decorating. So far I have a little bit of everything. I have multiple books of stickers, how did you combine yours into a book? I want to do one like it I think it's much easier to look through
Are there planners out there that start at different months ? I'm new at planning ,so I'm doing a cheap version of a planner, supplies etc ( budget household here) . I might take the leap in a few months and buy a more expensive one. Love your videos. I'm addicted !!! Thank you
I'm new to planning and I've watched close to 30 videos! This was, by far, the most helpful planning video I've watched. Thank you so much! You just got a new subscriber! :)
Thank you so much for this video. Having decided to start planning I was overwhelmed by the numerous set-up videos. Your hints and tips have been brilliant for helping me decide what I needed to purchase to start my own collection! Happy New Year x
I use my Johanna Basford planner and I have some fitness stickers that I use for my workouts but I want to get deeper into the planner hobby! I use the 365 Fitness stickers ur showing.
Hi Jessica great video, thanks so much. I'm a new subscriber - I just found you tonight. I am a total newcomer to planning lol so your video was very informative. I am not in the USA unfortunately and we do not have nearly the options to find a nice planner here (Ireland). I am on a mission to find a budget friendly option armed with the tips I've seen here! If any of your subscribers know of good planners similar to the quality of the ones you have shown I would be very grateful for any suggestions;-) xx
I am so glad you found this helpful! I totally understand, I was overwhelmed the first time I used the EC website too. But once you get it, you will enjoy your new goodies! :-)
Great video! I might integrate stickers now. I’m more of a minimalist, who needs to take lots of notes. I am artistic and creative, but timewise, I need it to be mostly about planning and note taking. Still, do you have a lot of great ideas!
Hi, I just watched your video. What an awesome idea. Love the planner concept but have been confused since late summer as to which type. I'm an educator ( 35 years) a grandma(glam-ma), a creative person and a list maker( for 40+ decades). SO- so many options appeal to me. It's very overwhelming. Trying to start small- but a little frustrated. Gathering supplies for months but haven't started. Purchased planners and sent them back ( see my dilemma). I have to decide on type. I don't like Arc rings. Love Franklin Covey- just purchased the Charlotte in my favorite color. Hoping not to send it back. Hoping to use a 5 by 8 size for work planning and a classic size for life planning. Does the Life planner travel with me or do I keep it home ? Maybe, I feel confused because i'm moving past basic list making to something more functional ? Don't have a friend to help me think this through. Family is not really interested. I also didn't see the coupon links. I'm open to advice. Thank you so much- Dobbie
First take a step back and breath :-). Planning does not have to be any set way. It is meant to work for you and your lifestyle. Listen to what your gut/heart is telling you. IF you like it and it feels right than go for it! Do not feel the pressure to plan the way anyone else does, that will only stress you out. The goal is to have a planner that will work with you, not against you. If things do not feel right, just take a step back and brainstorm on a piece of paper your ideas, wants, and needs. Some people enjoy to take their planner with them, others like to leave it at home. Some people are happy with a small planner for appointments and notes, while others need a large planner or multiple planners to track a lot of life events. Also decorating is just an option for fun. You will find your way! Happy Planning!
Thank you so very very much for your guidance and insight. I was so surprised at how much angst I felt. You're right about trying to make it look like someone else's planner.I'm taking a step back.. following your directions and brainstorming...I will give you an update to let you know how it's working out. Thank you,Thank you,Thank you.
Oh my goodness I'm so glad that I found this video!! I just barely got my 1st Happy Planner over the long weekend and can't wait to dive into planner decorating :) Could I get more info on how to print my own stickers from home with the Avery sticker pages? Do you have a Pinterest that I could follow in order to find cute icons and stickers to use? Thanks so much in advance!!
Thank you for posting this! I've just gotten into more decorative planning and this has really helped me! Just waiting for my first Erin Condren! This is such an amazing video (as are they all!) and I appreciate you taking the time to do them!

Are there planners out there that start at different months ? I'm new at planning ,so I'm doing a cheap version of a planner, supplies etc ( budget household here) . I might take the leap in a few months and buy a more expensive one. Love your videos. I'm addicted !!! Thank you

This was SO helpful. I got a Erin condren gift card for Christmas but the website is a bit overwhelming. Thanks for the help.

I am so glad you enjoyed it! Welcome to the "Planning Community"!
Great video! I might integrate stickers now. I’m more of a minimalist, who needs to take lots of notes. I am artistic and creative, but timewise, I need it to be mostly about planning and note taking.
Still, do you have a lot of great ideas!
We in the #plannercommunity call the productive style of minimal to no decoration "FUNtional" planning. Do what ever works for you, all is great! :-)
I love how you explain things.
I print some freebies, but how do I get them to stick to my planner
Happy Holidays🎄🎄
Thank you
Hi, I just watched your video.
