Hi Dustin! Have you seen the longfin tilapias? They look amazing! If you like tilapias, I think you should get some. Apparently, they are hard to find in the US, and have been bred in east Asia, but I figured since you run a business you probably can get your hands on a few. There's a green one I saw in a forum that pretty much looked like a giant betta fish.

Need help on plants. I have a good amount of plants in a 55 gal African Cichlid tank and ALL the plants seem to always collect this mulm type gunk. Surprisingly they aren't digging them up. (Knock on wood) No matter what i do it aways comes back. I clean the plants completely and do a good vac/clean/water change and within a week it's back on the plants. What's your thoughts on what it could be and how to control it??? Thanks for any information ya have..

Yo Dustin! I've always wanted to get Loaches but, I've heard that they dislodge plants from the substrate frequently. Is that true?¿?¿ I use Juli Cory Cats instead and I think these Cory's are the hardiest fish I have ever owned. I use flouromax substrate which grows plants really well, but plants dislodge easier than a dirted tank. I tried dirt a few times and everytime my plants melt away. Originally I wanted dirt with a thin layer of sand on top since plants don't grow well in sand, but my dirt fails. I usually buy all natural dirt from Home depot. Should I just try the dirt in my back yard and how long does it take for dirt to lose its nutrients?¿?¿

It's been a very long time since I've kept poached but yes, it's part of their natural behavior: Forage in the substrate. Anything loosely planted will get dislodged, but that's true for a lot of bottom feeders.

I believe that you can find your answer about dirt if you look up gardening videos or if you know someone who's into gardening.

When the fish industry goes down the drain due to the lacy act you can always grow house plants or weed.
