Hi , Stef I just scored the curly lipstick plant of all places Home Depot, and it was the only one. I just sprayed it with neem oil just in case I have a fungus.
Hi Stef, I love seeing your beautiful face and smile, it just makes me smile and makes my day. I have seen this at Lowe's and it wasn't in the best condition so I didn't get it, so when I see it again, and hopefully it will be better looking I will pick one up, or I will pick one up wherever I happen to see it. I already have two lipstick plants, the regular green one and the black pagoda that I just love, and now of course I want the curly one and the variegated one. Thanks for starting this series, I love that it gives me info on where the plant originated from and care tips. I hope you have a beautiful day, much love my dear friend, bye for now.
Dope. I'm going to mount part of mine on the cedar plank I'm using for My tillandsias etc. Put a branch mounted with tillandsias on it, and have a few hooks at the bottom to hang more from. Maximize space lol.
Oh my Stef, that plant is so cute! It would look great in a head planter, and I like the looks of it better then the Hindu rope. Probably easier to keep them clean as well. THANKS STEF, a great video as usual.
Great video! This is one of my fave plants. While mine looks very healthy, it doesn't seem to be as curly anymore. Especially new growth. Does this take time?
I had the same problem and it was dropping leaves like crazy. I started misting the ends/plant daily and also started watering more (I was so scared of root rot that I think I was underwatering!) And it seems way happier now! All ends are green and growing. No more crispy tips.
Hi Stef! How are you? When I first saw this plant, I thought it was a Hoya Carnosa Compacta. LOL! I never saw either of them in person. It also had that wonderful label as HOUSEPLANT! LOL! ENJOY, Gerry 😎
@@hpeteacher9445 Did you get it either way? Its a beautiful plant and worthy of being wishlist material. The Crinkle 8 is another one that can get confused for a Hindu rope as well. I hope you find yours soon☺👍❤.
Hi Ruthie! How are you? No, I did not buy that Curly Lipstick Plant. Since I wasn't sure it was a Hoya Carnosa Compacta, I went home empty handed. I did save 2 HCC from Lowe's clearance rack. They were in glass hanging vases and stuck in green floral foam. The to sections were dead. I cut them off and rooted in water. A long time later, I potted them up and they are doing great. I haven't seen a CLP since then. ☹
I don't think they're easy to take care of! Everybody say it in their video but it is hard to keep them alive!! Lol am I the only one in that case? I've been fighting for my lipstick plant for weeks, seems to be better now but wow !! What a plant 🤣 Thank you for the video btw
Thanks Stef I like this plant but because so many places for bugs to hide, I’ll pass on it same with the Hoya Hindu rope just not my thing but I still appreciate it.
Hello, and thank you for your video. Would you know why my curls got straight? I bought it as a lipstick curly plant and now my lipstick plant leaves are straight 😢
Is this plant like a fern meaning, if you trim the end of the vine off to make more, is that vine that you cut that is still in the soil, done growing or will new growth come from the cut?
Hi, Half my lipstick plant has died. I managed to save the other half. The bottom of it is shriveling up. It doesn’t look as full and thick as it used to. I’m not sure what to do!
Stef Hall Yes. They aren’t rotting but it’s overall usually dry. I water it once a week and spray it sometimes. It’s withering and sometimes has brown spots. I’m trying to keep it alive but it looks worse everyday.
Not so much info about the curly lipstick plant on the internet so thank you so much for making this videoI bought a curly lipstick plant just a few days ago and the stems were quite expansive when I took it out of the plastic wrap, but after a few days the older stems became drapey and downward facing, with only two young short stems standing. The leaves seem to be the same no wrinkles whatsoever. It seems your plant has downward facing stems but bends upwards beautifully closer to the tips. Shall I be worried about my plant's change of look? Perhaps it's normal? And also how do you recommend watering it? Do you prefer bottom watering or water from top down for this one? Thanks!
I water this one from the top down although I don't think it would mind being watered from the bottom up. I wouldn't worry about the ends not flipping up at the ends unless it looks sickly.
Hello, I have this plant for almost 8 months, I never see her flowers but sounds very interesting, I was thinking that I can propagate but I don't know what is the best time for this. Thanks again 🙂
Hi Stef, my lipstick plant's leaves are starting to shrivel. I received it about week ago. The soil was really moist and wrapped in plastic. I did not repot it or water it at the time. But, after a week of putting it in some shaded light, I've noted the leaves at the very tip of the plant are starting to shrivel up. What could be the reason?
Hi, I have a question. My plant is putting out a lot of new growth but the leaves are small and not curling. I thought that was maybe because it is new growth and would thicken up and curl over time but it isn’t. The plant is very healthy. Could this issue be not enough light or a fertilizer issue? Thanks for you videos!
I bought this plant about a month ago and I've noticed the tips are drying and browning. I tried misting to increase humidity but the soil feels very moist. It was like that when I got it so I've been trying to balance the water level. Is it still adjusting? Do you think I should just pull it out? I just dont know what to do. Please help.
Its kind of normal for just the tips to brown. Its not ideal but normal. I think it will aclimate and be fine, but if your gut is telling you to check the roots, then maybe you should?
Brown tips on any plants alwaysssss means you are overwatering it. The lipstick plant doesn’t need much water, so cut back to only watering a little whenever soil is dry.
I bought this beautiful plant 3 weeks ago. I do seem to be providing proper care. Everyday I get to my office and find that the leaves are falling off in handfuls. I’m unfamiliar with repotting but noticed that the current pot has no drainage holes. Could that be the problem?
My curly lipstick has browning tips, not sure why, I am watering it and not in direct sunlight I have trimmed off the brown tips but then the tips brown again
That happens on some of them, I have definitely noticed. It sounds like you are doing everything right. The only thing I can think is that it would like more humidity.
I bought one from the local nursery and half the leaves are flat. Half of it is curled and half is flat. There is hardly and good info on this plant, any advise is welcome!
Are there 2 curly lipsticks? I have one but it looks different than yours! Your curls look more.. curly.. can’t explain wish I could post a pic of mine in the comments..
Wow it's a pretty plant even without flowers got to add it to my wish list

Great care guide Steph! This is one of my favorite plants in my collection.
I like how easy it is and different looking!

Thank you so much for all the advice. I'm getting my first Curly Lipstick plant today.
Wonderful presentation!
I know curly leaves are difficult for checking for bugs, but I sure do love em. They're so cute!
Me too!
Thanks Stef for putting out good informative content.Thumbs Up!!!
I needed this information so I'm so happy you posted it. I received some beautiful cuttings and want them to thrive. Thanks for sharing☺👍❤.

So pretty 😍
Hi stef. Have read somewhere that mealybugs are difficult to remove on curly leaves.
Hello, and thank you for your video. Would you know why my curls got straight? I bought it as a lipstick curly plant and now my lipstick plant leaves are straight 😢
Hello Stef, my curry lipstick plant growing over two meters and the plant doesnt look healthy anymore, do you have any tips please😊

Hi,
Half my lipstick plant has died. I managed to save the other half. The bottom of it is shriveling up. It doesn’t look as full and thick as it used to.
I’m not sure what to do!
Have you checked the roots?
Stef Hall
Yes. They aren’t rotting but it’s overall usually dry. I water it once a week and spray it sometimes. It’s withering and sometimes has brown spots. I’m trying to keep it alive but it looks worse everyday.

Hi, can you keep it either on the south facing window but around 2 meters away or on the north facing? also in the bathroom for the humidity, pls?
magda ka yes I think it would like a few feet away from the south window. And it loves humidity.
Hello, I have this plant for almost 8 months, I never see her flowers but sounds very interesting, I was thinking that I can propagate but I don't know what is the best time for this.
Thanks again 🙂
Spring is generally the best time to take propogations, but it can be done year round with the right equipment.
Can you do Cebu Blue care
Yes! Thanks for the request.
Yay
My twisted lipstick is getting brown and dying on tips of some leaves ,what do I need to do?

You might want to check the roots? Could be rotting if it was extremely overwatered.
@@StefHall Do I just let it dry out?
Keoka Hunter That’s what I would do, but if it keeps deteriorating, I would probably take it out and check the roots.
@@StefHall Okay, thank you so much!
Hi nice plant..... Ye plant khahan melega mujhe bhi chahiye.

I thought that was maybe because it is new growth and would thicken up and curl over time but it isn’t. The plant is very healthy. Could this issue be not enough light or a fertilizer issue? Thanks for you videos!
Yes it could be a lighting issue. It could also just be that specific plant's nature.
Stef Hall Thank you so much. I’ve moved it to a new place with more light so I’ll see what it does.
I recently got a rooted cutting of this plant. It is kind of fuzzy, so I dont know of it is a different kind. How do I make sure it survives?
They are pretty easy. Basically I would say just not to overwater and it will grow fine!
Stef Hall thank you! It is actually doing a lot better! It lost some leaves, but the ones he has left are hardening:)
I needed this. Mine is yellowing. 😩
Oh no! Hope it straightens itself out (with your help of course)
My plant's leaves are turning purple, is that from to much sun?
Probably. Sun stress is beautiful.

That definitely could be. In fact I'll bet it is. The water is probably sitting at the bottom rotting the roots.
Can I send a picture to you. I ordered one but it seems to be dying slowly!
Yes, it’s theplanthall@gmail.com.
Is it toxic to animals cat/dog? Also best location to buy one?
They are safe for pets. We sometimes have them in our shop.
My plants new leaves are not curling.. any ideas?
Has anyone successfully propagated the cuttings of the curly lipstick plant in water? Thanks 🌱
I haven’t done them in water but sohagnum works really well.
Do I need to rotate the plant in my windowsill every day so the whole plant gets sunlight or can I just leave it?
It’s always good to rotate plants otherwise they end up lopsided. Once a week or so should be plenty!
My curly lipstick has browning tips, not sure why, I am watering it and not in direct sunlight

What kind of rooting hormone?
So if I prune, will it regrow from the cut ?
Yes it will encourage it to grow and become fuller.

He curly lipstick plant is Hoya right? And the regular lipstick plant is not?!!
The curly one is also a lipstick plant. There is a Hoya compacta that looks similar but also quite different.
