If you’re looking for an effective home-defense weapon, the revolver is one of the most popular choices. In today's video we complied a list of some of the best home defense revolvers on the market today!
Is a good list, first because I collect S&W revolvers, second my EDC is a revolver and third you don't put a garbage Taurus on the list👍💯 you could put one of my guns the Manurhin MR-73.

Hell yeah got that right, this ugly old thing with no blueing on and some 158gr hydrashocks well in front of it not favorable and I keep 2 speed loaders along both with hydrashocks
I’ve carried and competed with revolvers for my whole life. They’re great, but have you ever shot one in the dark in your bedroom when someone’s coming in the door? That cylinder gap flash is blinding. As much as I love them, get something with a supressor for your home defense weapon
I have no problem with revolvers. They're precision engineered, simple to use, reliable, and lethal. Train with it, have a speed loader handy, and you're good to go.
30 years ago I would have said yes because you could always find .38/.357 in any store that sold ammo. Today .38/.357 ammo is a little harder to find as it has been replaced as the most popular round by the 9mm. That being said, buy a .357, or two, because it's a terrific, versatile round with the added advantage of being very easy to reload if you can't find factory ammo for it. If you don't reload, you can get an inexpensive setup for under $100.00 dollars. Once you've made the initial investment, depending on what bullet you chose, you can "roll your own" for as little as $.20 per round. Add to that, that the .38 Spl. is a very mild recoiling round in a full sized .357, it's a gun everyone in the family can shoot. Another advantage is the fact there are a lot of .38/.357 lever-action rifles available that add more versatility to the round.
Yes. Because u can start off with the lower recoil .38's for target practice or self defense. Get used to the .38 first and then move up to .357 when ur comfortable . plus .38 is a little cheaper ammo too, but for true self defense or hunting situations I'd go with the.357 magnums every time. You won't be worried about the extra kick of the magnum when youre defending yourself or family. Plus the first shot is all u will need .
Great choice. My brother-in-law has a mint Model 10 snub but won't sell it to me. Can't blame him. My bedroom gun is an old Colt Agent snub 38. It works all the time.
I’ve owned and shot lots of revolves and carried the Smith 642. But, if you’ve Got the cash- Kimber K6 3” is in another league.😊 it’s Goldilocks in every category and by far my favorite to shoot. Thanks for a fun vid.🍀finding ammo now at a decent price..
Get a weapon you are trained with, affordable, and able to get ammo for. Seems that in this category, a .357/.38 is most able to attain standards. Get .38 Spl Plus P, in a modern self defense round, you have an excellent handgun. I prefer Smith, preferably a Model 66 or 686, but any number of quality pieces are out there. In my opinion, don’t worry about optics and lights.
Have you ever screwed up by shooting a .357 in a covered or indoor range and discovering that you forgot to put in or on your ear protection? Now imagine going through that level of ear-ringing noise in an already stressful home defence situation in your home. Now imagine what your night vision is going to look like through your shooting eye after the brilliant muzzle flash from a .357. My advice is to just not do it. If you are using a .357 for home defence, stoke it with .38 specials.
Thank for the info on the different revolvers, food for thought. I've had a Ruger GP100 for 20 years, rugged gun. Always open to learn about guns, too.
My S&W Model 19 has been my go-to for more than 40 years. Performance Center Carry Comp is my current carry. Add my trusty-rusty Charter Arms .44 Bulldog 'last ditch' backup that serves as a serious hole-puncher/flamethrower (if you own or have fired one, you KNOW what I'm talking about) and I feel adequately armed should TSHTF.
I only have 2 revolvers. Super redhawk .44 and the 3.5" .460. Not trying to hit the neighbors too, so I'll keep some JHP on my .44 on occasion. Nothing like .45 ACP by the bed though.
Right up there with the chiappa rhino 40ds imo, in terms of sexiness, overall aesthetic, reliability, accuracy and overall user experience is the Kimber k6s dasa combat, with the 4 inch barrel..the Kimber really belongs on a list of like this...

I’m gonna get a revolver in 2023 because of bears and cougars which have come too close to me while fishing last September. I want a 357 for its power against these huge beasts and the reliability of a revolver to literally save my life from attacking bears and cougars.
Out of the 10 you picked, the only smart choice is the ruger gp100. All pale compared to my nightstand home protector, a glock 30s 45 acp with extended 23 round mag, strobe, laser and 500 lumen light and red dot and 23 plus p tracer rounds. Not only would your head explode, you'll incinerate in a puff of smoke should you get hit with a tracer, like the aliens used to burn up on the TV show the invaders. Lol
@@survivalgearofficial You but up no criteria. This is just some AI generated list of 10 random revolvers. How can the 442 and R8 even be on the same list? If your picking a weapon for home defense then there is no advantage in lightness and concealability.
Everyone seems to forget that if you use a gun in self defense, you WILL WIND UP IN COURT! Try to explain to the jury ( the people who will look just like your crook ) why you needed to blow the crook's top half of his head off with a 12 gauge three inch magnum. @@rickderoehn2630 The difference is, when a self-loader/semi has a malfunction, most likely tap and rack will clear it (not always, of course), but if a revolver fails, it is usually just a paperweight until Colt or S&W has fixed it…

In Australia,we don't need firearms because of strict gun laws.If we feel unsafe at home-security screens does the trick.
Good for you. We will keep our guns. Thank you very much.
Screens???
👍😎🍺🍩💥
Out of the 10 you picked, the only smart choice is the ruger gp100. All pale compared to my nightstand home protector, a glock 30s 45 acp with extended 23 round mag, strobe, laser and 500 lumen light and red dot and 23 plus p tracer rounds. Not only would your head explode, you'll incinerate in a puff of smoke should you get hit with a tracer, like the aliens used to burn up on the TV show the invaders. Lol
These lists are always just random garbage.
Explain…
Hannes productions I like watching them just to see how far from affordable reality they really are.
@@survivalgearofficial You but up no criteria. This is just some AI generated list of 10 random revolvers. How can the 442 and R8 even be on the same list? If your picking a weapon for home defense then there is no advantage in lightness and concealability.
Except for the Ruger and S&W the title could have been "random weird ass guns nobody owns".
Guess you never heard of Colt
Clickbait BS.
Black people, take note. How would you like to handle racist Karen's in your life
Why in the world a handgun? A shotgun is much better, easier to use, safer, and can't be taken easily to school
Everyone seems to forget that if you use a gun in self defense, you WILL WIND UP IN COURT! Try to explain to the jury ( the people who will look just like your crook ) why you needed to blow the crook's top half of his head off with a 12 gauge three inch magnum. No matter how evil the deceased crook was, you are the one who will look like a homicidal maniac! Something to consider.
Yeah you Americans think you need guns for defence, just crazy!
What do you need defense then if not a gun ?
Well unfortunately the usa is armed to the teeth as the deaths by firearms stats show.
That's why I like it here in the states
They worked well on defeating your sorry butt
I bet U would like one, but since U are not a free man but a slave to the State, big daddy says,, no no little serf. :)
Colt Python will always be 👑!!!!
Laughs in SW 686 plus.
@@leadfarmer556 Love the Smith 686 I had one but let's be real the Python is 👑.
Kimber K6
Which one would Alec Baldwin pick?
😂
“Can’t jam”? Full of shit - I’m a revolver fan, but they sure as shit can jam;timing failure is catastrophic.
well more like less likely to fail
@@rickderoehn2630 The difference is, when a self-loader/semi has a malfunction, most likely tap and rack will clear it (not always, of course), but if a revolver fails, it is usually just a paperweight until Colt or S&W has fixed it…
The best home defense is.a shotgun hands down. Pistols are stupidity.
I carry a handgun so I can fight my way to my rifle or shotgun.
@@BacktheBlue357 how horrible it must be to live in such fear.
@@jimanders9971 No fear. It's called being prepared. I also have a fire extinguisher, though I'm not afraid of fire. And when I'm hiking in Grizzly country, I carry bear spray and a handgun. BTW, I respect bears but don't live in fear of them. A handgun has saved my life twice. So, you're welcome to your opinion but, it's just that, your opinion.
@@BacktheBlue357 thats exactly what it is is fear, your explanation does not change that. Perhaps an English course could help you. And of course it is my opinion, who’s else could it be my cousin Bobs?
