crazy how different the sounds are considering they r all the same material, tho ill prolly be going for the kailh black stem and jwick bottom since its relatively cheap
I made the UWU pies and yes the short travel distance may be a deal breaker for some people. The short travel distance is barely on the cusp of not making the switches worth it but I can personally get used to it. Another con being the spacebar with the tall stem. If pressing on one of the sides of the spacebar, the stab stem on the opposite side will pop out. I am unsure if there is a mod to fix that from happening but that problem makes these unusable for stabilizer keys. If no mod exists then having to use a different stem for a BCP will have to be necessary for stab keys. The cons I've previously listed aside, these sound amazing. I'm addicted to this sound profile it gives!
Just my opinion but after trying out a fair bit of long stem Franken-switches, the short travel eventually grew on me so it kinda isn't endgame... IG? Lol. But about the topic of possible stems, sometimes shape matters more than length. This becomes more obvious when we take a look at the JX Konpeito/Pom Konpeito/Cobalt stem since they do not have the shape of Kailh to give the distinct bottom-out sound. I guess at this stage it's all preference but since the product is so different I don't think it's right to call them the same name... Also, I'm more of a Kailh Stem Cherry Housing person for that long travel. I've tried a batch of vintage black - cream stem before, and not going to lie that was literally fire. But overall, nice review!
LOL endgame is just fiction in our world ;) Just a personal preference on my end that I love long pole stems and the reduced travel, but obviously your mileage may vary haha! But you're entirely right, my criteria of stems were strictly long pole and pom, without taking into account the differences in shape. I guess more so just a simplification of the different stems I have. I agree that the difference in shape, how the rails align, how the legs are would all play a factor into the bottom out and overall sound. I agree with you, throw some broken-in creams with those vintage blacks and I bet they're insane! Thanks for the feedback though I appreciate it :D
I actually hate creams in general LOL...I only harvested the stem but I should have some other housings lying around I can give it a shot. Closest to cream stem I would say is the Husky and maybe non-uwu. Smoothest is husky, konpeito pom, and zaku's. Hope this helps!
Hey there, great content! Most certainly going to sub, as I am begining to tip my toes in the franken-switch territory hehehe The creams stem sound test got me very interested, and you said there were similar sounding stems to replace, as Creams tend to be scratchy and need some breaking in. What stem would you recommend, so I can get the closest sound to the creams you showed in this video? Cheers 🖤

Stems play a huge factor in terms of smoothness. The leaf shouldn't really have anything to do with smoothness except for things like tactility. The rails and stem are more important I would say. If I handed you the exact same switch, all lubed and the only difference is the stems, you can feel that some like the husky and zaku glide really well and don't have a scratchiness to them, as compared to the cream and kingfishers
