Omg, I did the same thing, I wore a bun for 6 months every single day. I didn't even do it because I wanted growth, I just wanted an easy and low manipulation style that wouldn't take time to make. And I got SOOO MUCH growth it was crazy.
After using many brand name products and watching so many hair videos, simplicity won out. Thanks for sharing such practical and helpful advice. I've just subscribed.
Im known for my buns where im from so happy to see the style ive literally been wearing my whole life with & without perms is what has been saving my hair. I always wear my buns up tho, But your concept is different for me so now low buns it is. The stretching idea is not new to me but the way you do it is and my hair aint as long as yours but i definitely want to attain your growth so im bout to get on my hat & bun shit. Your hair is literally my goals. So beautiful and it isnt even in final form
I agree. I wear this style a lot and think it's much less stress on the hair than wearing it in braids. Like you I suggest a low bun that's not too tight and just let it be.
I thought I was trippin until you said it.! Yes girl pulling my hair in a high bun causes more tangles for me too. Smh. I'm going to try this method. For a few months Thanks for sharing!💕
I do buns for both hair growth and to keep my hair off my face and neck. Though I don't really so sleek buns. I normally do loose high buns for everyday things. That or will occasionally flat twist the front and have it in a low bun
When my hair was relaxed I was also lazy and found the bun to be my best friend. It is easy, low maintenance and classy. I had beautiful long relaxed hair. As a natural, I recently went back to the bun as my go-to hairstyle. Trying to use very little gel.
The donut hole does help but you should put a satin cover over it, kinda like a DIY homemade cover to fit the donut lol .. I used the donut like you did 4 years ago and it broke my hair off bad, especially with the bobby pins, I didn't have as much length as I do now.. However, I do think it works and I do agree that it is a good protective style but for those with not as much length as yourself, they need to be real careful with the donut hole .. Good video, thanks ..
Kaykay You know what.. I have been meaning to put satin around my donut thing for years. I haven't had a problem with breakage due to the donut, but I know it will help. I'm going to make that my DIY activity for this weekend. Thanks for the advice lady! And thanks for watching also :)
Your hair is beautiful. I also use Shea Moisture products. Love them. Can you tell me how you use your aloe? Do you use raw natural aloe from the leaf or bottled?
Thank you! I pretty much just use it as a leave-in before I put any products in my hair. As of recently, I've been using 'Lily of the Dessert - Aloe Vera Gel'. I plan on making my own raw aloe vera gel from the leaf when I get some more.
You should! And no this does not break my hair. I do not pull my hair tight, especially when I put it in the bun. The twists will loosen immediately after you are done twisting the hair. Hope this helps lady! :)
literally subscribed 30 seconds into watching this. love your vibe and simplicity. I'm currently transitioning so I'm thinking this might be a good idea. Have you always washed your hair twice a week?
Just Cho Omg, I don't even remember where I bought it or what the packaging looked like. I've had it for years. It's nice because I can fold it in half and use it as a scarf head wrap or use it to cover and protect my whole head. I think the two tail ends are thicker than a durag. I wish I could help you more!
I had one too back in the day. Unfortunately, I can't find it and don't remember where I bought it from. Thanks for replying and for the detailed video. I love buns. It is my go to style for length retention. *New Subscriber*
Just Cho I always buy those scarfs from Walmart. I have tons of them in different colors, because I have to rotate them out nightly. They are at end of the aisle with all of their ethnic hair products.
Love you're hair, it's literal goals 🙌🏾 We have similar textures and densities, I'm trying to grow out my hair and retain some length, so I'm so glad I stumbled upon your video. I just had a quick question did twisting every night cause any breakage?
Hey! Thanks lady :) And no, my hair did not experience breakage from me doing two twists at night. They are just two jumbo twists that will naturally unravel slightly after you let go of them. They are not tight. Hope this helps!
Hello! As of now, I don't wear a protective style every week. I don't do much w/ my hair and I pretty much only wear my hair in two different styles 1) a bun OR 2) a wash and go. I bun it up more often than I wear it out though. Hope this help!
Aww bless you with Another informative helpful video thanks for sharing you are amazing just subbed too! Love from uk 🇬🇧 What hair type are you love your kinks! Im 4c
New Subbie👍I love this idea but do you redo your bun everyday? when I do have a bun I leave it for days.glad I found you nice and early I like your videos.
Hey, I wish I could leave it in. Lol. I'm sure getting ready is a little faster for you. But it's a little uncomfortable for me to sleep with that bump on the back of my head, so I just take it out at night.
I understand lol I will try this when I take these crochet braids out, are you using a sock or a store bought bun? This is why I love youtube the information you get about hair is amazing, I love natural hair❤
New subbie. Wow your hair is so easily layed. Mine is really fuzzy and plenty fly aways. I wish they would really just fly away already Love your videos. Your beautiful.
But wait I notice when you are manipulating ur hair to retwist, you aren't spraying with water or adding moisturizer. How are you able to prevent breakage while hair is dry?? My hair would break. Also are you washing your hair in the twist?? Your hair is so pretty 💞
Hi Miss! When I retwist my hair for nighttime, by personal preference, I do not put any additional product or oil in it because I don't like going to sleep with oily hair that could make my pillow dirty. I do not apply any water when I retwist either that could make my hair to revert (my goal in this vid is to gently stretch my hair). When retwisting, I don't pull on my hair enough to cause breakage and my hair stays pretty moisturized from consistent deep conditioning and products that I may already have on my hair from earlier in the day. Also, when I complete a twist it always automatically loosens and shrinks once I let go of the hair. I hope this helps!
Hey! No secrets over here, but a few things have helped: wash my hair twice a week (only use shampoo once and co-wash the other time), finger detangle, deep condition regularly, wrap hair at night, minimum to no heat styling, and wear this low maintenance bun often. I think these things are keys for me. hope that helps :)

Maureen Njanga Yes ma'am! I believe it. And it's sooo easy. 👌🏿
@@jamilania9230So if i get it right, you have to redo the bun everyday? In the night you take it down and twist it and put it in a bun

Thanks lady :)
Thank YOU! I am enjoying my daily bun!
I’m confused about the no detangling...when do you detangle? Is it right after you condition?
I love your channel!! So simple and straight to the point.
Gia Willis Thank you! 😊 I appreciate that!
love your hair, the texture beautiful. You are gentle with it which is also game changer.
yes, I try to be gentle for sure.
Great advice! I'm gonna implement some of these tips into my hair regimen. Seems very low maintenance and I'm a lazy natural lol.
jolie luvlee 🙋🏾 Haha. Same here!
But you have to do the hair everyday
Going for this type of protective style from now till December.
How is it going so far?

Thanks gorgeous! Same to you :)
Thanks for the vid. Looking for new protective styles. I actually already do these two. Fun note: You favor Gabrielle Union. All up in the eyes. 😁
I love your routine. Will this work on 4c hair?
Yessss, love the bun idea!!!
Perfect! And You get right to the steps. Love this!
MadeMarvelously Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed!
You remind me of Gabrielle Union 😍. So pretty.
thanks!
Been wearing my hair in a bun too, just a little tip use satin or a soft sock to cover the bun as they do sometimes cause breakage, great vid!x
I am Alex Thanks! Good tip. I was thinking about seeing satin material around my mesh bun for extra protection.
so funny just got doing mine! lol I just pur a little bit of marley hair around the bun for more protenction for my ends.
That's a good idea!

finally someone with my hair type. definitely going to try this for 6mos.
Best wishes!
Hello, for clarity, do you take the bun down each night and re-twist the hair? Or do you sleep with the bun in some nights?
Anton Daniels I take down the bun and put in two twists.
literally subscribed 30 seconds into watching this. love your vibe and simplicity. I'm currently transitioning so I'm thinking this might be a good idea. Have you always washed your hair twice a week?
Nope! I just started about 2-3 months ago.
Thanks for the good advice I’m so hairlazy
simple, what kind of scarf is that? It doesn't look like a regular du rag.

You're sweet 💕 I believe my hair is a mixture of 4a and little 3c :)
Your hair texture is like mine and like yours, my hair likes to be left alone. Low manipulation is key to my length rentention.

New subbie here!!!! Can you do a natural hair journey video please? TIA!
Already working on it!

May i know your secret?
