Wow - Your video is great!!! Every bolt, every trick, which wrench (type) ... amazing!!! You did not get back to how to remove the wire clip (push down the tip in the middle), but the rest of the video made it very easy. You are very kind (and patient) to provide such a great video. Thank you !!
thank you. i cant remember why that part of the wire clip is not in there. but it is either that you push down on the clip or lift the clip with flat head and slide it out. i do apologize for it not being in there . its not easy trying to record and have the camera in correct posistion in one hand and working on the car with the other hand.. but i got better gear now so i hope to have better recording set up now
Hey man I came across your video yesterday and it was absolutely perfect. Thanks for all the details ie. tools size needed, and also what to expect along the way. Again, great job! Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks for the reply. However I have a question for you. Could a bad starter cause your battery to drain? The reason I ask is because my car was going through batteries like crazy. I thought it was possibly an electrical issue so I disconnected the stereo as well as had some diagnostic tests ran on it but nothing came up. I knew there was a starter problem because the first start up of the day was always successful but after driving a few miles and then turning it off, it would be sluggish to start back up just a few minutes later. But since I put the new starter in (Sunday 29 Apr) it has cranked up every time...so maybe my problem has been solved. I apologize for such a long post but I'm just trying to figure out if in fact the starter could of been the problem or if it could be something else. Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from you...oh btw it's an 01 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.4
well it is possible i dont wanna say no. but its not a common way for the battery to drain. but if the starter is bad it can put a strain on battery do to it having to work harder. have you checked the alternator.make that is tested. also test for parasitic draw. to see what else could be draining the battery. if everything checks out then yeah it could be the battery
Yep I replaced the alternator and the battery is new too. As for the parasitic draw, I tried to accomplish that but not sure if I did it correctly. So for now I will continue starting it daily to see if the starter replacement took care of the problem. Thanks again for your replies and checking in on me. Take care and have a great weekend.
Nice! Thanks man, saved me a few minutes of cussing up a storm. Same procedure for dodge stratus coupe and Chrysler sebring coupe of same year. Unless it's the v6 models.
You are my 2004 Mitsubishi eclipse spyder guy!!! Subscribed. ...... .. You explained everything. Thanks! .................. And, good luck on the sniffles. Outside, cold, and windy...such fun! The only things missing...complete darkness, rain/sleet/snow AND the impatient customer sighing, tapping their foot, and looking at his watch. A perfect storm! .............. Any videos on the heater blower motor not blowing?
hey thanks for the comment. sorry for the sniffles i hate it when i do that. and not thinking about how annoying it can be. yes it was super cold outside that day. and no i dont have a video on the blower motor just yet. but try to set it to max on blower. if it works then it could be the resisitor itself.if not that the it could be the blower motor. but its best to check things like fuses and wires cross/cut/burned etc
@motorsportfactory The sniffles weren't annoying. I have been in the same place. You and I agree...we need a real garage!!!!!!!!! .................... My dash has a few electrical issues. But nothing, a few thousand lives and a couple of million dollars can't fix! Bwahaha!!!
What starter did you use I have the same vehicle and the starter I bought for it is not fitting in and looks completely different. I bought the prostart 17671 which won't fit but they said is what my car uses
where did you buy yours from. they could have made a mistake by giving you the wrong one. or it may have been mispackaged. i used also a prostart one. no problems there. i dont remember the part# but try exchanging it.
I don’t usually comment on TH-cam videos but damn yours was perfect. I’m not a mechanic but when possible, I like to do my own repairs. This video was perfect. Your tip on using a ratchet 14mm wrench for the starter bolt was great. Best $15 I ever spent. lol. Thanks for the video.
hey Rick. im glad it helped. im always trying to improvise with what i have. instead of always spending money in differenet size and length wrenches i want to show ppl if they are stuck and need a different way of doing things. if there is any other help needed please let me know

Great video ... question i have 2006 eclipse 4 ltrs would be the same as the one you been working on ??? Thanks
is that the v6 model.. if so ... im not sure if its in the same place. cause i havent worked on the v6 one yet.
I have a 2001 and it’s difficult to take off the heat shield because of a radiator tube in the way
what if you take out the exhaust manifold too?
you can if you want to but your just doing more work. it wasnt that bad for me. but it does give you more clearance when you do take the manifold out

Motorsport Factory I tried and it didn't budge
did you try lubing it with stuff like freeze off?... also make sure your loosening it in the right direction. it should come toward you not toward the engine to loosen it.
Motorsport Factory yeah I'm pulling towards me and I did put some lube on it .. specifically wd40
