    Thanks for the tips. I had check engine codes for the mass air flow sensor in my 02 Eclipse. I got all the cleaners you mentioned and a new sensor. After cleaning the sensor the car ran a smidge better so I replaced it. Now my Eclipse runs great again. Also the tip to use a 10mm socket saved me time too. Thanks!!!!

    Wish me luck! I'm going to attempt this on my 2007 GT Spyder. Thank you so much for the video! Hopefully this easiest of items will correct my running to lean issue (171 and 174 codes).

      Hope that fixes it for you. There are a lot of things that can cause those errors. I’d check for vacuum leaks first. Here is a link that has some useful info: www.club3g.com/forum/problem-reports/222729-p0171-p0174-vacuum-leaks.html

    I sprayed this when I cleaned out my '04 Diamante LS MAFS. It worked like a charm and the car is running smooth now. You CANNOT use anything but MAFS cleaner on these because this cleaner will NOT leave any residue that would interfere with the operation of the sensor. I swear by this CRC product. Other cleansers will leave residue that will interfere. I agree with Kill-O-Byte in using this spray. I also used this on my old '97 Galant without any adverse effects.

    I have a on eclipse gt 3.0 and it start's with such a low idle that if you don't tap the gas a lil she will stall, but once she's warmed up not a problem. I have replaced the idle control valve & removed my cold air intake with no luck. Do you think that this will help? Any suggestion's?

    What type of MAF cleaner is he using?

  • @duariweiss7188
    @duariweiss7188 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I cannot find any MAF cleaner that can be used with Mitsubishi?!? The brand you are using in the video clearly states not to use with Mitsubishi. I have visited lots of forums with mixed reviews. People saying they used it and it was fine and others saying it caused damage (they were just cleaning as maintenance) then Had to replace MAF. Mine is throwing PO102 code. I am thinking I just need to replace. I read an article that with this type of MAF you should never clean. Wondering what others experiences have been?

    • @Killobyte
      @Killobyte  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The version of CRC MAF cleaner that I have says it was safe on any car. I have used it several times on that 2001 Eclipse which now has 186k miles. I’ve not looked for a new can so don’t know if they still make a version that is safe for a Mitsubishi. If someone knows of a brand that still makes a version that is safe please let us know. If your only other choice is to buy a new one, I’d try using a small amount of cleaner first. It’s not like you have much to lose.

    • @duariweiss7188
      @duariweiss7188 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kill-O-Byte thanks for the reply. Yeah I couldn’t find any cleaner that said it was ok. You are right I should have tried it to see if it would help. I just replaced the damn thing. 2002 here and it just rolled 187K the day after I replaced it! Wondering how many miles I squeeze outta her?!? It has been a great little car for my daughter.

  • @M00di

    I bought the same spray you are using in the video with out paying attention to the back of the bottle until I went home it says do not use on vehicles with Karen-Vortex, e.g Mitsubishi. Did it damage your MAF after you cleaned it? I'm thinking of giving it a shot. Nice video

    • @Killobyte
      @Killobyte  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve used the one I got multiple times without issue, but it’s a can from many years ago so they might have changed the formula. I’d go to an automotive store and try to find one that says it’s safe for your car. A store employee might be able to assist.

    These Mitsubishi karmen vortex MAF sensors are not cleanable. The hot wire you see is Intake Air temperature sensor. They don’t use hot wire to measure air flow . Guys Look it up. They will be damaged if sprayed.

    Touching the diode with a cloth, rag or towel on the ceiling won't cause any harm. In case any one did accidentally touch it and thought that was a sensor, it's a circuit fail safe feature to prevent further damage in the event of an electric anomaly isn't it?

    • @novalsatria3490

      that is thermistor (its like resisor but its change resistan by temperature), and its used to detect air temperature

    My 2003 Mitsubishi GT Spyder V6 has been in and out of the shop for a month now. The engine service light keeps coming on, first they replaced ALL the fuel injectors, then the computer...Yep the engine service light is still coming on. I'm getting frustrated because as a female they won't listen to me. I'm starting to think it's becoming a guessing game as to what to do next.. My car only has 97,000 miles on it and has always been maintained by the 2 owners (female). HELP!! What can I suggest they do next. Timing belt done, spark plugs/tune up done water pump done...I'm simply lost as to what to do!!
