Honestly I really wished we got more storys like this new trainers off to start their journey that aren't the protag with their own storys that aren't just beat the the evil team
Yeah, honestly, I think a Twilight Wings like series, where each episode followed a different trainer as they begin their journeys would be interesting. Get to see more perspectives and could even include people who don’t want to take the Gym Challenge, but maybe want to become like Pokémon Doctors or Breeders, or other jobs.
We need more of this. Normal trainers. No more of the constant "chosen one" arcs available in the main anime. Just some relatable freaking kids that learn as they go and really build from the ground up. This was such a good short and the animation is absolutely stunning.

I don’t remember there being THAT many chosen one arcs in the main series.
This short animation has such a compelling story and such a great amount of potential for a game's story. I love how the protagonist earns their pokemon and how the mother is the champion or is atleast implied to have been once. The mother being the champion in a game would be such a fun concept to see.
Yeah, I thought that was cool to see Blossom earn the friendship of a wild Pokémon instead of catching one or being given a starter. Great idea to show different ways different trainers meet their first Pokémon.

She wasn't the champion. she states that she lost right after defeating the father.
The fact that they used the trope of "powerful heritage" like most animes but made it more subtle and centered around the naive protag is amazing. His dad and mom had a char and a dragapult, so badass and yet not over exposed

i loved the ending sting referencing the opening of the games. and getting to see pokemon with different personalities is always a treat. gonna watch this with my grandmom later, i think she’ll really like it.

The animations we get for TH-cam are infinitely better than the Ash anime imo, the slugma one almost made me cry for some reason, while this one actually made me cry
The online shorts definitely get more time for the different staffs to work on them, so they turn out really good. As opposed to being 22 minute episodes every week.

What I love about these animated shorts is the world-building. It reminds us that not everybody in the world of Pokémon is a Trainer or part of an evil syndicate. Most of them are average Joes like you and me. The same goes for the Pokémon themselves. Seeing them interact with each other in the wild and how they live with people outside of the Trainers’ journeys is always a delight. It’s like if The Flintstones was made in Japan.
I sat through this with complete interest, something I haven’t felt in Pokémon in a while. Honestly, I would like to see this as a series. The art style and the protagonist, is great. Also, what a great role model for girls, it reminded me of ash’s story. Imagine if we had both in the stories with equal importance ❤️ or have a mini series. I thought that little twist at the end, with both parents having a backstory of meeting through their journeys, was quite nice also. I liked it quite a lot as it stepped away from the doting mother and laid back father stereotype even though that’s the way it seemed in the beginning, because instead - they were both trainers and understood her feelings.
Dude the ending scene with the classic gengar vs nidorino was so good
1:31 Somehow this reaction kind of makes sense within the Pokémon world. Seeing how many sorts of trainer classes there are, I imagine Pokémon training is kind of a casual hobby for most people. The trainers who catch lots of Pokémon are most likely collectors or researchers, or both (i.e. the protagonists of the core games)
This was great I only known her for 13 minutes and I’m rooting for her and we’ll probably never see her again but I have my own head canon. She’s the new kanto champion in my mind.

I've only watched the Japanese version. Really love Studio Colorido's animation just as their previous project Pokemon Twilight Wings. Wish they'll make another series for Scarlet and Violet games.
BTW, her parents were Galar champions hence the huge Galar stadium. That running Boltund logo in the stadium still catches my curiousity. Can anyone tell me what that is? Is it a brand of clothing/apparel in the Pokemon universe? Because in SW/SH they have that logo as well when you're customizing your outfit. Hop also has a shirt with a logo of it. Wish the Pokemon Company can sell merchandise, like shirts or bags, with this Boltund logo, as well as the other fictional brands/logos in the games like the different subsidiaries of Macro Cosmos, at their Pokemon Centers in Japan. I'd love to get one.
Her parents werent champion, they took part in the tournament. And both lost
What I liked about this is that her starter wasn't part the standard lineup. It would've been too easy to give her eevee or pikachu or have her come across one of the three kanto starters because they fit into the standard criteria of cuteness many love. But they took a pokemon normally seen as cool and made it cute, showing those 5 are not the only pokemon a child would be interested in. It wasn't until this short that i finally found nidoran actually cute (the artstyle goes a long way) and wondered why I never thought that before. But it makes sense when it's almost always portrayed as cool, rough, tough and more aggressive. Even the gen 1 sprites do this. Speaking of making a tough or aggressive pokemon look more cute, Journey's finally made raichu adorable and gave her a sweet personality (that isn't just aimed for her trainer but the group at large including pikachu).
It’s so refreshing seeing a Pokemon adventure from a different perspective. Especially from a novice like Blossom/Tsubomi. Also who doesn’t love the mom who’s a badass trainer with a Dragapult?
This shorts sadden me cause I can only imagine what the anime can actually be like, the pokemon world has so much potential to tell many great stories
I loved Blossom's Dream! I kind of hope that she shows up in the Pokemon anime, maybe in the Scarlet and Violet anime, even if it's just her being in the background!

Maybe they just have difficulty breeding in captivity? I’ve heard about that issue with some real world animals, like cheetahs and pandas.

Wait did they change the parents being past champions part in the translation? Because the original Japanese dialogue stated that Blossom's father was the champion very briefly before being defeated by her mother, which also had a very brief moment of being champion. Granted, it's been a while since I've seen this so I might be getting things mixed up here
The one that I watched said that both parents were in the championship. But the mom beat the dad and she lost somewhere down the line
the electabuzz using electric moves against a nidoking is still the truly best moment

_Um_ ... Yeah. XD ANYWAYS, happy to see this finally be dubbed (even with its imperfect sound mixing...). I STILL stand by this being up there with the greatness of Twilight Wings, Origins, Evolutions, etc. And I would not ever be against seeing more of Blossom in the future. It's like a new but still familiar journey with a new generation of trainers. XD

Yeah, I was really surprised it took like a whole year. Compared to all the other web series that thankfully get released in Japanese and English either same day or maybe a week difference at most.
Kinda wish they made this into a full series. Great job showing both a strong girl as a pokemon protagonist for little girls out there while also reinforcing the fact that pokemon is also about the friendship between people and their pets.
This short episode is everything Pokemon as a whole could be. Gorgeous animation, funny dialogue, relatable protagonist that learns an actual valuable lesson.
This is what was missing from Pokemon all these years which made me never get into it from neither the games or the series. They all speak like bots, while here I can see humanity.

I think the cashier was surprised because Blossom for some reason didn't shrink the pokeballs. Since that's how trainers carry them around so easily, it would be weird to see someone getting an overflowing basket full of them in Large mode

I don't watch the pokemon anime anymore, stopped watching years ago , but if they made this short into one I would definitely watch it. She seems like a protagonist I wouldn't mind following on adventures. A different series with a different protagonist would be great. I am not saying stop the current one but have another one with new faces.

0:17 Let's not forget Studio Colorido's track record of making ANIMATED McDonald's commercials for Japanese TV. Seriously, check them out and you'll see just how good they are. They have visual quality that would make most modern Anime pale in comparison.
Reminds me of when I first watched Pokémon so many years ago.
The only nitpick I have with this otherwise great short is that flashback with the mom saying there was no way Blossom could beat the League. It would be one thing if she was saying she needs more time and maturity, but the way she says it sounds more like something I'd expect from Gary
I felt a little awkward during this part too. I think we're more comfortable with parents lying and saying 'Of course you can be the president/an astronaut/a dinosaur if you really try sweetie!", but that's somewhat problematic in it's own way. The fact that she and Blossom's father both went down that path and failed makes it clear she didn't mean it with any malice, but a slightly different dialogue there such as "Not everyone can cut it as champion" would have felt a lot less jarring.
Agreed. And yeah, lying is bad, though one should also be tough but gentle telling them about life's hardships
Maybe the mom is aware of the kind of competition this girl would have to face and with her current state of mind she wouldn't be able to beat them. Maybe they got some absolute monster pokemon trainers like Red already competing at the time.. who knows.. but I would still love to watch girl compete against these powerful trainers.
That's not normal in your culture? Parents are worried about their children's big dreams and afraid of how their child will feel when they realize it's close to impossible and fail
Me personally, I knew that the mom was the unrevealed trainer in the flash back immediately. But maybe that's just me

Honestly, regarding the whole sound thing, the Pidgey clock is literally the only issue I noticed when I watched it. The rest didn't bother me at all, personally.

I watched 2 weeks ago it because of what the writer did later (Horizons Ep18). Also, fixed and remixed, the english dub(s) need to be collected on a Bluray. I'd pay them cash money.

Im pretty sure they can breed as the smaller forms, so the nidoqueen probably bred when it was still a nidorina then evolved. Yes this sounds weird but at least we know age and level arent the same thing
Game data and cartoon are little different, like pokemons fight and eating each other etc.. I also heard it's a captivity thing too and in the wild they can.
UG you didn't even touch upon, or completely missed the reference with Blossoms eyes looking at Charlie.
I was trying to find the exact quote, but one of the games referenced when two trainers eyes meet, they have to battle. And several games touch upon the fact you can tell apart a trainer from their eyes.
That moment when she looked at Charlie and asked "please" her eyes (sparkled?) Showed that deep burning passion that her father (Charlie's trainer) once had at their prime.
And in that instant Charlie felt that same drive of being in those league battles with her father again.
Hence the itence flames in response.
This is sort of both a passing of the torch from father to daughter, and a showing of that burning desire to be a champion that her parents seemed to have lost track of.
All of that communicated beautifuly by the artists, and the music building in a simple stare.
