Hampi - Valley of the Kings - documentary about wildlife conservation in India

  • Between 2011 and 2015, we travelled the world to create four documentaries about subjects we really care about. The subjects are diverse but they are all inspiring stories about people trying to make a difference. We sought out a marine conservationist in Indonesia, a theatre teacher in Ghana, a conservationist in India, and a musician who cycled from England to Mali.
In 2017, we decided to release all of the films for free on TH-cam so that as many people as possible can be inspired by these stories of amazing people having a positive impact on their communities and the planet.
We welcome any donations. Thank you.
    www.paypal.com...
You can see all of the films here, as well as some of our other documentary content: www.youtube.co....
    ---------
The small village of Hampi was once the capital of an empire stretching across the whole of Southern India. But with the ancient city's fortifications in ruins, Hampi has little defence against the invading forces of development. In the last 15 years, tourism has grown 75% and now threatens the local community’s way of life and the rich diversity of wildlife that lives nearby.
Bobby Vallabhchandra owns a large swathe of land in Hampi and has turned it into a nature reserve, attempting to conserve a unique landscape in the face of growing industrialisation.
The film features amazing footage of leopards, crocodiles, wild bears and a host of other wildlife.

old BOBBY is a great guy. but I'm guessing its much easier to be a conservationist when you have the money to buy 10,000 archers and then continue to generate more wealth with said land

I Wish KARNATAKA Government recognized what they have here, Patadakkal and Aihole are shithole slums and Hampi is still looted by our own govt after the Mughals and Britishers dried it out. This legendary places need help. This is a stunning documentary. Appreciate your efforts man! Thanks alot!

This only helps the argument that humans need to start restricting the size of the families they are having. We need to share this world with the rest of Gods creatures. Thank you to Bobby for sharing his wealth and time to preserve some of the nature in his country. Wish there was more people like him. I would say he is a National Treasure of India.

Wonderful to see wealthy Indians with an ecological conscience, putting their money where their mouth is. Hampi is(was) a magical place, first went there in 1988 with friends from Goa. We slept in the temple ruins , add a full moon and Buddha LSD to the atmosphere and it was an amazing experience, to the say the least.

What a beautiful documentary!!! Brilliant production! I love the contrasting images of urbanisation v nature, very powerful and effective. The music was beautiful too ❤️ I am loving Bobby! What a visionary ❤️ The other man was an inspiration too, what a beautiful soul ❤️ So happy I stumbled upon this on YT 🙏🏻 I just feel so sad for the locals who were forcibly moved 😧 That is unjust, immoral and so sad. No one has respect for the poor. And for more tacky hotels too, like the world needs more of them 🙄 Guesthouses are so much better, more authentic and gets you closer to the locals. I am so happy Bobby bought more land to protect more animals, what a gift he is ❤️

Greetings from Hyderabad. Great and humble effort carried out to preserve nature. Like to put in a few words. Rural villages belonging to agriculturist /farmers, mainly depend on rains, for one crop, if artificial water bodies are created to collect rain water. This mass migration to cities, to make a living, can lessen to some extent. Like some villages in Maharashtra, collectively worked on the same. Mr Bobby Vallabhchandra with your care and protection for this holy land. Hampi will stand in its own glory till eternity. Regards...

My only trip to Hampi so far was in 1993. Almost no tourists at all and only 1 or 2 very basic places to stay. It was like visiting another world left behind after the fall of a great society. There was a Hindu wedding one day with a man who played the stone columns in the Music Temple with his flattened knuckles.

Ti was htere last week and i could see the hampi island being tdestroyed by bulldozers and all the police patrolling . i am sad for the locals, but this place should not be for unregulated shacks and polluting guesthouses attracting drug addicts who only come to hampi to get high and throw night parties on drugs and leave their trash everywhere. i hope more people like bobby start to protect hampi from the madness of modern capitalistic society

But nature and everything aside, this guy is basically a king in a little wild kingdom where the peasants are legit peasants but oxen plows and what not. Am I missing something here?

I have Never seen a documentary edited like this. I timed the cuts. At one point they went a full 3:25 without saying a Single Thing. And How Beautiful to just watch the locals working together, preparing the paddies, sowing the rice, harvesting it, threshing it, etc. Just the timeless S. Indian classical music in the background. I’ve said it for years already and I think it’s starting to be borne out in stories like this one that the world will start seeing a rebirth/resurrection of the old ways which are closer to the Earth BEGINNING WITH INDIA. They’re the only Large-Scale historically rooted spiritually based culture that seems to still have the Will to join the march forward into the technologically based 21st century while keeping their feet firmly planted in their traditional values.

I enjoyed this video my type of story the footage was great too. Hopefully once nature takes over prey will be plentiful, the villagers have more animals than the predators I'm sure it will come together. It took many centuries for man to destroy this world and its a pity it will take just as long for everyone to learn and care about life. There's one thing man cannot take from another and that's the feelings in ones heart to make good. Without that balance we have no future. To witness positive energy being used in people after being reduced to such harsh times is always a miracle for me to see. Your duties are not wasted you have been rewarded and it makes my heart smile at the goodness that follows I love it.😁😍😍💞💞♥️💖💛💛😘💗 😏✌👍🙏💕.
