If you are 16 and over, you can see new information added to your GP health record. You can see this through the NHS app or other patient online services on your computer, phone, or tablet. This will make it easier to understand and make choices about your health. You can securely access notes from your appointments and medical results such as blood tests. This does not include records from hospital and specialist services such as a diabetic specialist, but you can see letters they send to your general practice. This will all be available online and can be protected by passwords, face ID, or fingerprint security measures. You and your doctor will have control over your online record. For example, your doctor might not let you see your record if there's a good reason. You can always speak to them about this. They might want to speak in person before adding something like test results to your GP record. If there is information that you don't want to be able to see on your GP health record, you just need to speak with your doctor or other staff at your GP practice. You can also tell them if you notice anything wrong or missing from your record; for example, some medication you take or an appointment you had. These changes only apply to information about you. Carers should speak to reception staff if they need to access records for someone they care for. You can access your records on your NHS app, by logging in to the NHS website, nhs.uk, or using other patient online services.
