Hello I have a question So I recently repotted my plants and my gardener told me I should cover the drainage hole with a plastic bag and put the soil on top if you get what I mean. Would you recommend or should I remove the bag?
Hi there, your gardener is right. Placing a thin plastic mesh or bag over the planter's drainage hole will protect soil from washing out while not affecting water drainage. However, you can protect your plants from clogging by putting a small, terra cotta pot upside-down over each drainage hole in your planter. You can sometimes cover the hole with a piece of broken pottery. Hope this helps
