    Just one last question please, does the coal have to be activated?and not ordinary bought from the coal vendor/depot because it is believed to contain chemicals.

    Thank you for the informative video. I bought charcoal from a store. ( where the puja items sold) I have no idea whether it was hard wood charcoal or not. If you explain what is hard wood charcoal it will be very helpful. Thanks

      Thanks. Well, its lil difficult. Hardwood is dense and larger pieces. But best way to find out is by burning it . If it burns longer then its hardwood. Usually softwood coal burns to ashes faster.

      It needs to be all natural.

    I use to add charcoal & some amt of ash in my pots, Mgcl2 , sugar, eating soda , iron nails water, etc-etc by which my plants gets energetic, green, grow well, healthy; hence looks brilliant.

    I have flat stones which come from coal mines, next the city. Good to use on top of the soil as mulching, it's full of bacterias and you will get springtails . Which both contribute to have à dynamique soil.

    Hello, my query is related to your video on the use of DE as an organic pesticide . Would it be advisable to use it if I am using biofertilisers such as azospirillium , potash bacteria and pseudomonas? Will the DE be detrimental to the effects of the biofertiliser ? Appreciate any advice you have to offer .

    Will the charcoal as a mulch not raise the ph in the soil too high?
    I would be interested to know the best mix to make a good potting soil.

      Not much. But always good to check and experiment. I recommend two mixes:

      I find it pulls soil towards neutral because it has both positive and negative charged surfaces, but fresh charcoal may be still full of ash, especially if it's activated, which means it was cooled off with water which would flush all of the soluble salts in ash into the coals

    We burn charcoal with dhup in the evening to drive mosquitoes , once it is burnt it holds the size and shape.but does not burn any more ,can I use the burnt out charcoal for gardening/ please let me know

    How much proportion of charcoal should be used in compost bin?
    Does it also helps in getting rid of ants?

      Just sprinkle one or two handful over it and turn the compost, like once a week. No it wont prevent ants.

    Just becareful that the charcoal/biochar doesn't take the nutrients from the plant I would charge it fist by letting it soak I a fertilizer water for atleast 6-8wks

    Have heard the charcoal briquettes have a chemical added to make them light quicker if using for a grill. Not good for plants.
