Up to first two weeks of OCtober is still OK to travel on Manali Leh Highway but do not sleep between Jispa and Leh anywhere. Better you travel from Manali side to avoid traveling later in the month of OCtober and come back from Srinagar side. Check the itinerary below that you can modify and reverse but on Manali Leh, sleep first night at Solang Valley instead of Manali and second one sleep at Jispa and third Leh. There could be some disruptions and road may not be fully stable but chances are likely that it should be made through/open for light vehicles at least by that time.. @vedavyassripathi8520 at least carry one heavy jacket surely as overcast conditions can be quite cold especially if you are not used to cold conditions.. dressing up in layers will always help
fitness matters.....gym people or atheletes have no issues in mountain or have very little issue but unfit people suufers a lot.......we 5 friends where 3 gym goer and 1 boxer but 1 unfit pizza eater went on spiti trip......4 log thik the 1 bnda marne jaisi halat me tha(unfit one)
bhai, Well, the point is that do not thing that if you are fit you do not need to follow acclimatization principles. There is no corelation there but yes in general being healthy will help you anyways. However I have seen fittest of the fit kneel down to AMS when acclimatization priniciples are not followed even at the level where people are not just gym goers but they own gyms, are instructors for years.. I have seen them lying on hospital beds and taking oxygen in places like Leh and Zanskar! So, I am not suggesting that fitness will not matter at all but I am suggesting that people thinking that I am going to gym so AMS cannot do anything to me even if I do not follow acclimatization principles, that is where things can go wrong!

I will say you should strive for like 4-5 ltrs of fluids in the day. It is more liking sipping drinkins throughout the day not like drinking in large quantities once and then taking very long break. Drinking in small qty or sips at frequent intervals through the day helps much more.

You need to carry something that can give protection for about 2-3 hrs to reach to some safe place in case of any emergency.

Cold for a bike ride and Very Cold conditions at the passes and probably snow as well on the passes and cold conditions at Pangong Lake. Sometimes if unsafe, they may not even allow bikes in early season.
I am not sure but have seen people fly it may be like at their will and risks.. just do not fly in border areas, sensitive military zones or populations, and no flyzone is not there as mentioned by posters and signages

yes, Ladakh in winter can only be done via flight not by road. And even if Srinagar to Leh is open, it is unsafe to travel by road to Ladakh in winter time.

Up to first two weeks of OCtober is still OK to travel on Manali Leh Highway but do not sleep between Jispa and Leh anywhere. Better you travel from Manali side to avoid traveling later in the month of OCtober and come back from Srinagar side. Check the itinerary below that you can modify and reverse but on Manali Leh, sleep first night at Solang Valley instead of Manali and second one sleep at Jispa and third Leh. Rest pretty much reverse the plan with Tso Moriri trip back to Leh.

I am planning a trip with my wife to Leh-Ladakh in the second week of May 2024 according to your suggested itinerary of Entry from Srinagar-Leh Raod and exit through Leh-Manali Road. As you are aware Leh-Manali Road is closed at the moment. Can I book my flight to Delhi or Srinagar and start my trip on the 15th of May hoping the Leh-Manali road will open by the end of May or should I wait till the Leh-Manali road opens and then book the tickets? There could be some disruptions and road may not be fully stable but chances are likely that it should be made through/open for light vehicles at least by that time.. All is subject to good weather in the coming weeks.. last few days has not helped due to snowfall and all.

@vedavyassripathi8520 at least carry one heavy jacket surely as overcast conditions can be quite cold especially if you are not used to cold conditions.. dressing up in layers will always help
fitness matters.....gym people or atheletes have no issues in mountain or have very little issue but unfit people suufers a lot.......we 5 friends where 3 gym goer and 1 boxer but 1 unfit pizza eater went on spiti trip......4 log thik the 1 bnda marne jaisi halat me tha(unfit one)
bhai, Well, the point is that do not thing that if you are fit you do not need to follow acclimatization principles. There is no corelation there but yes in general being healthy will help you anyways. However I have seen fittest of the fit kneel down to AMS when acclimatization priniciples are not followed even at the level where people are not just gym goers but they own gyms, are instructors for years.. I have seen them lying on hospital beds and taking oxygen in places like Leh and Zanskar! So, I am not suggesting that fitness will not matter at all but I am suggesting that people thinking that I am going to gym so AMS cannot do anything to me even if I do not follow acclimatization principles, that is where things can go wrong!
@@discoverwithdheeraj that gym owner must have abused steroids that's why he had problem but yes fit people would be fine because of higher rbc in bloodstream and good cardiovascular fitness....and unfit people must go under accilimatization to minimize effects

I will say you should strive for like 4-5 ltrs of fluids in the day. It is more liking sipping drinkins throughout the day not like drinking in large quantities once and then taking very long break. Drinking in small qty or sips at frequent intervals through the day helps much more.

Portable Oxygen do not provide enough protection. You need to carry something that can give protection for about 2-3 hrs to reach to some safe place in case of any emergency.
I am planning to go to ladakh in june with my parents ages 54 and 59.... They are physically fit...no health complications as such but recently the tests revealed they have slightly higher levels of cholesterol...

I am not sure but have seen people fly it may be like at their will and risks.. just do not fly in border areas, sensitive military zones or populations, and no flyzone is not there as mentioned by posters and signages

Well, there is a 60:40 chances in favour of Manali Leh being open after middle of MAy. There could be some disruptions and road may not be fully stable but chances are likely that it should be made through/open for light vehicles at least by that time.. All is subject to good weather in the coming weeks.. last few days has not helped due to snowfall and all.

yes, Ladakh in winter can only be done via flight not by road. And even if Srinagar to Leh is open, it is unsafe to travel by road to Ladakh in winter time.
