Dheeraj ji, thank you so much for such informative videos. We (me and my friend) are planning to visit Leh on 22nd April. Kindly suggest which road trip shall we plan, Srinagar or Manali. Thank you Govind bhai.. I do not think that Manali Leh will be open and safe, both, by that time of the year. So, Srinagar to Leh is your best bet. In case there is not much snow this year and if it is safe to travel during April from Manali to Leh then only do it. Otherwise, follow Srinagar to Leh route both sides. 1. Yes you can take Spangmik - Man - Merak - Chusul - Loma - Nyoma - Tso Moriri route. Leave early in the morning from Pangong to reach by evening to Tso Moriri.
      2. Tso Moriri to Jispa can also be done in one day and same way Jispa/Keylong to Chandigarh is also possible. About 12 hrs. Just leave early on both days.

    • @discoverwithdheeraj

If you are doing Leh to Tso Moriri then You can take your rental car towards Tso Moriri and take a chance that no one objects there. Else you can say you are just exiting via Tso Kar and came to see it in day only. Mostly these two things work. However, if you are coming from Hanle or Pangong to Tso Moriri then in that case there is only option to return to Leh to pick your rental or hire someone to come and drop at Debring the meeting point on Manali Leh Highway of Tso Kar exit.

It is monsoon time in general up there in North and at some parts of Manali - Leh Highway (like before Baralacha La) and Srinagar - Leh Highway (like before Kargil) you might need to face monsoon hassles but once you get closer to Ladakh, then Ladakh being rain shadow region is least affected by monsoon rains. Landslides or slush or road blocks are pretty common in the month of monsoons but these landslides are cleared in a day or two unless there is a very major one.
Again there are ALWAYS risks of traveling in mountains in the rainy season. No one can predict anything but it is a well known fact about the risks of traveling in mountains
Having said that, rains does reach Ladakh nowadays but in general, it is overcast days or in form of light drizzles. I will suggest you go thru my video on 10 Tips for a Trip to Ladakh in Monsoons at the link: th-cam.com/video/TQjBw5pCGx8/w-d-xo.html

This is how people usually plan:
Day 1 | Leh Rest day
Day 2 | Leh to Diskit/Hunder in Nubra
Day 3 | Turtuk Day Trip (Optional)
      Day 4 | Diskit/Hunder to Pangong Lake
Day 5 | Pangong Lake to Hanle
Day 6 | Umling La Day trip from Hanle
Day 7 | Hanle to Tso Moriri
      Day 8 | Tso Moriri to Sarchu/Leh

It all depends on the season you are traveling. When are you planning the trip?
