Man this is my favorite sample footage video from the KOMODO so far. I keep coming back to it, everything looks so organic and alive. It looks amazing, and the music is the cherry on the top.
Well, that was f*ing awesome!! Crafted with absolute perfection in every frame! Major props to the director, cinematographers, editor, and the skateboarder! Man, seriously, that was so good!!!
that one was done by my good friend Calvin Millar who helped with the video. A few of the shots in the there were done by him and this was one of his brilliant ideas!
It's always the best videos made by people with actual talent that get no views on youtube. This is outstanding and should have millions of views. Amazing skating, perfect shot composition and edit flow. Great work.
The Boss of tracking shots ! Great cinematographer job ! Best selling footage for the komodo's global shutter, all these tracking shots and not a single bended vertical line. I guess it would be hard to go back to a rolling shutter camera for action and sports shoots.
@@MortyFilms unfortunately we have almost nothing in ways of BTS for this 😭 As for sound, it was all recorded on a Tentacle Track E that was attached to the outside of the skaters pocket. The 32-bit float gave me peace of mind that I'd be able to recover any clipped audio and not having to worry about a wireless signal was nice too.
This is great!! So engaging! I couldn't stop watching it!! Can you please tell us a bit more how you did it? This definitely deserve some good BTS!!! THANKS for sharing it!!
hey thanks so much! Unfortunately we have practically no BTS other than 2 iphone clips - one from the intro drone shot and one from the very first line going through the garage, and neither clips show very much haha. Other than the opening drone shot, everything was shot using the Komodo on either a Zhiyun Crane 3s or a DJI RS2. The primary lens was a Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5, but I also used a Sigma 50-100mm T2, 2 old Nikkor lenses, a 35mm and 100mm both f/2.8, and a Sigma 100-600mm (probably somewhere around 400mm) for the shot at the end.
Wow that was amazing to watch. Such a great vibe and exactly what skateboarding should look like. Im also trying to learn to make better skate videos and to tell a good story. Very Inspirational… well done man. Can’t wait to see more of your stuff, ✨🙌✨
Thanks, I appreciate that! I think the total number of shoot days was around 10-15, but that spanned over the period of several months based on the nature of skateboarding (injuries, weather, schedules, and sometimes things just don't work out haha).
@@filmalltay Thank you so much for your so quick answer :) wow ! 15 days... I think I saw your video 10 or 15 times, analyzing it, delighting my eyes, and I'd never have thought that it took 15 days to shoot ! Big project ! Congrats again
Thanks! The whole thing was shot on a gimbal, albeit for the opening drone shot and 3 shots on a tripod, 2 of which were in the back of a truck so they are still moving shots.
ATX baby!!! So cool to see skate videos shot cinematically with high end cameras. Also dope to see it done in Austin. What lenses did you use on the Komodo???
it was just in Chima Ferguson's new Vans part. I'm sure it's been used somewhere before that too, but it was just too good for us not to use it. We actually picked this song out before we even filmed a single shot!
Awesome work man!! With the Komodo, Which gimbal have you preferred between RS2 or the Zhiyun Crane? Do you use a Vmounts? I’ve had a tricky time balancing the Komodo/Vmount setup on the RS2. Take care!
I definitely prefer the RS2 in terms of weight, especially when skating with it (it's more than half the weight of the Crane 3). For any gimbal work, I use the BP batteries on the Komodo to cut down on weight and have the ability to hot swap still. If you want to use a v-mount though, you should check out the RS2 battery plates from Tilta - tilta.com/shop/battery-plate-to-rs-2-power-pass-through-plate-kit/ I have one for gold mount batteries and it works way better than trying to have the battery mounted on the back of the camera. You just need a 2-pin lemo or d-tap to Komodo power cable.
Really great man. Good job. Looking forward to getting my Komodo. So did you put a lav mic on him haha. How did you get the audio so clean in certain spots he so far away.
Man this is my favorite sample footage video from the KOMODO so far. I keep coming back to it, everything looks so organic and alive. It looks amazing, and the music is the cherry on the top.
thanks a lot, really appreciate the kind words and glad you enjoy it!
Music and titles and something about how it was shot made this feel like a Tarantino version of a skateboard video ❤️
this is by far my favorite compliment I've gotten for this piece!
Super good stuff. Real Ty Evans lookin goodness.
haha thanks!
That shot through the slats in the concrete barrier is a good demonstration of the global shutter. Cool video!
The global shutter has changed my life! 😂
Love it!
that's' an opening tiles sequence ready
Well, that was f*ing awesome!! Crafted with absolute perfection in every frame! Major props to the director, cinematographers, editor, and the skateboarder! Man, seriously, that was so good!!!
thanks a lot! Had a blast making this one.
The shoot through the railing was too cool.

Really really loved this!
love this, love the one take long shots, surely have taken hundreds of retakes, effort and passion mmmmm yes. keep up the good works sir :)

Beautiful

thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it!
Thats dope.
That was impeccable

Wow he is a monster!! Great film!!!
and this is him doing "easy stuff" haha. Thanks!
that shot at 1:16 is so good. no other camera could do that. love the global shutter
super sick! i came here for the komodo, but the sound design is gonna stick with me. great work

yo this is insane dude, great video and use of the komodo. Makes me want to pick one up so bad!
As a skater and cinematographer enthusiast I must say this video was buttery!
thanks a lot!
@@filmalltay what was your focal length for this?
@@Minihova all of the lens info is in the video description!

I think I just found the holy grail of cinematography!!! 😍

loved every bit of this!!!
Love this! Also, great example of the benefits of global shutter.
thanks! I'm gonna have a hard time going back to rolling shutter after owning this camera haha
STANDING OVATION!!!!
Damn. Was tired of seeing reviews of this camera with no actual footage and this popped up as a suggested video. Sub’d
haha I hate the amount of "review videos" out there with no real footage, or just someone walking down a street. Thanks!

thank you!
incredible, foda, muito foda.

@@fatheadmediapro totally! That 32-bit float comes in especially handy for recording skating sounds.
what lenses did you used?
mostly a Sigma 10-20mm. Also used a Nikkor 35mm and a Sigma 50-100mm for a few shots as well as a Sigma 100-600mm for the end shot.
What do you use to edit these videos? I’m asking because I’m new to the game and want to get started filming.
Davinci Resolve Studio

Nicely done! I know a gimbal was used but did you use a one wheel or some other means to travel so smoothly?
thanks! Just used a good old fashioned skateboard (but with softer wheels) and the manpower of pushing!
@@filmalltay 😂 That’s awesome
🍎
Komodo on a fpv 😮 looks to risky
There was no FPV drone used. The intro shot was a DJI Mavic 2 Pro. The rest was the Komodo on a gimbal.
meh
😂
Beautiful
