@@danielthegamer256 Its still better to adopt than buy, otherwise you are just helping puppy mills gain more money. Shelters have all kinds of good boys and fluffer nuggets!
As a falconer I only bred reptiles so I can feed and train my falcons and hawks. Reptiles are far too stupid to be a pets. But they are a great source of protein for highly intelligent birds and mammals (my hawks, falcons and dogs)
"There are no good reasons to buy a snake." Well that's just bullshit. I work at a pet store, and one of our regular customers will always come in with his ball python around his neck. I asked him as to why he always carried the snake with him, and he explained to me that it was actually a therapy animal. You see, the man had had half a dozen surgeries done on his neck, and without the snake, he was in constant pain. But with the snake around his neck, he felt absolutely no pain at all. So there you go, a perfectly valid reason to own a pet snake. Not that you would need to justify owning one at all.
Fletcher Spillers I mean, you don't have to believe me, but I don't see why it's such a difficult thing to believe. I guess I would be skeptical as well, since I don't really have any proof. But it is true, there's not much more I can say...
1) Snakes can help with fear. 2) Snakes are NOT slimy, they are smooth (Not really a reason but still) 3) Some snakes can be bite-y, but that can either be from abuse from the past or they’re just great eaters and think everything is food. 4) Snakes need very little. A water bowl, hides, moss for condensation, a heat lamp as I do not recommend a *heat mat because it can burn the animal, soft bedding, and obviously food. (*Heat mats with regulators are great! Just make sure you have one. Thx to taraluna01) 5) Snakes are the kind of animals that are calm and just explore. Some are fast and some are slow. *6) Sneaky snek* *7) b o o p t h e s n o o t* (Thx to *the graceful doot* ) 8) They can help w/ mental illnesses and can fix (almost) any fear related w/ reptiles. (Thx to *Twenty Panicking Pilots Falling Out At The Disco* ) 9) Snek is cool. (Thx to *A Pretty birb/dogman patrick* )
Honestly I would’ve gotten my first land reptile since my full on first reptile was a turtle.I got over my fear through watching videos about snakes. They’re absolutely beautiful and I would love to have a snake but my parents aren’t really fans of snakes.
4) Heat mats are great, if you have a regulator on it. My snake is nocturnal and needs a ton of humidity so a heat mat on the bottom of a plastic tub is perfect for me.
[Sir] Layka1777 Dogs are known to have the biggest loyalty to humans. Snakes doesn't give a shit about you, they see you as their next meal. I've had a snake before, they don't love you, I'll tell you that.
IHateBimbos Snakes don't see us as food if we're taking care of them. They know we'll give them food. Also, just incase you believe the rumors, it's FALSE that snakes size up their owners in intent to eat them. It's been disproven constantly. Why size up your prey when it's likely to run away or when it knows how to be cautious and prevent it? Why would they not attack immediately and figure out how to digest it later? It's silly. Snakes don't care about size. They eat whatever they want. But if you're feeding them they won't eat what gives them a steady meal. They are intelligent animals. They can correlate things like who feeds them and to not eat them.
Just dont try to take it on a plane. ..No Im serious, Im not being funny and making a joke. ESA are not covered to fly for free on an airplane like a service dog is. My service dog flies for free, an ESA has to be paid for and sit in the cargo hold like all other pets. It's cool that she has an ESA snake, but dont think that will make it ok to take it everywhere like a service dog. Because its not, by law, and makes me with my real service dog look like a fake.
Blue Hunter what the hell lol they didn’t say they take it on planes and such.. also Snakes and small animals / dogs can be seated under the seat. It’s happened before, but why so rude?
Salty ___ ESA’s are needed on planes, so are service dogs. The first commenter was saying not to bring (For example, a snake) it in a plane. That’s all I was saying :)
Salty ___ that is not the difference between an SA and an ESA. ESAs can absolutely be essential for someone to live. Someone may have chronic depression, suicidal thoughts, OCD, ADHD, or other debilitating conditions. These conditions may not affect someone 24/7, or there's no real task an SA can do for them. The only difference between the two kinds is that one absolutely must learn tasks and social manners, and the other does not have to. Also SAs can only be dogs or miniature horses. If you *need* an animal, not for tasks, but for support, you need an ESA. If you need a task trained animal that's not a dog or horse, you need an ESA. ESAs are just as important to their handlers, and many handlers have both ESAs and SAs, because they perform different, but equally important, roles. If you don't absolutely need the support, as prescribed by a doctor, of an ESA, you have a pet. End of story.
But they are escape artists. Found noodle after a month of being missing, in my laundry washer after a rinse cycle. She was barley alive, but she survived and is now reunited with Maru-chan. They cuddled all the time. It was weird to see Maru-chan all alone.(Byw they are common garter snakes and the problem with the lid is now fixed)
Yea and the salmonella thing they’ve been saying about if you wash your hands and give your snek lots of stimulation and treat he/she as your friend it’s actually easy
My roommate in college had a ball python. I put her around my neck when I had a fever and she just sat there and absorbed my body heat and helped break my fever without meds. She loved lying around my neck and didn't want to leave.
Reasons why sneks are amazing: -boop the snoot -great emotional support animals bc they don't have feathers or fur so someone like me can own one ( I'm allergic to fur and feathers) -some species live for like 20 years
Snakes can be therapy pets. I have really bad anxiety and I suffer with depression. I have a ball python named Lola and I love her. She is really soothing to look at and handle and she calms me down. I know she can't understand what I say so I can say anything to her without her judging me.
I am exactly the same! My ball python is fantastic therapy. I also have anxiety and depression and at times I have aggressive outburst but hugging Yami (my ball python) just makes everything so much better. He has saved my life multiple times. I cannot leave him. Another good thing is they have a long life expectancy, so hopefully I will too.
Reasons to own reptiles: - They help with mental illnesses. Like depression. - It’s fun to decorate the enclosures they go into - They are cute/adorable - It’s fun to hold them when you are doing stuff.
I don’t have a snake (I have a leo) but he will chill on my shoulder when I’m reading or doing homework and it’s amazing. and we watch vine compilations together
P.E.T.A thinks every pet owner is the same. I recently got 3 hermit crabs and while watching crabitat videos for ideas on how I wanna arrange my 20L tank I came across a P.E.T.A video on them. Apparently every Hermit Crab owner keeps them in a small plastic box.... Yepp exactly cause I didn't just spend $350+ on JUST my crab babies. I've spent another $200+ on my Betta and another $300+ on my rabbit. I take very good care of my children! My rabbit follows me around and licks my nose whenever he can. My Betta never misses a chance to swim up to the tank when I'm around. I just got my hermit crabs but I already know they're gonna be living a comfy and happy life!
I'd say a big amount of people who have them, get them from a chain petstore and don't know how to properly care for them. It's extremely difficult to breed them in captivity, so I'm pretty sure they are captured from the wild. Do they have their natural shell? If they do that's really good, because often times before they reach a petstore, they crack their natural shells and force them into painted ones, sometimes gluing them in there!
Six-Zero-Six Defender Of Justice! First of all best name 2k17, second of all, YES someone who shares the same love for their pets! I have a 20 gal tank with Cory cats and tetras, I've named all of them and call them my aquatic children.
Six-Zero-Six Defender Of Justice! I fond it cruel to buy hermit crabs if you already know that they dont breed in captivity and they have to steal them from the wild. Also if they get painted shells they have to crack their shell open, put them in a tank with painted shells and they are forces to pick a shell that will be itchy and irritating.
Reasons: - they're heckin cute - they aren't extremely high-maintenance, you just have to feed them regularly and clean their cage, unlike a dog or cat who needs lots of attention (but dogs and cats are still good) - even if snakes do need some expensive equipment, it doesn't need to be maintained as often as a cats litter box or similar materials - they're cool too
that's very true, I think it's tecnically the most important point, they're practically low maintenance, and very chill. not many animals are like that, it's something snakes do very well. There are people who just can't have a cat or a dog running around and taking space and needing too much attention. Or they have a psycological problem and can't get any other pets, so snakes are great companions
Here is a fact: Snakes are not evil, slimy, and dangerous. By owning a snake and taking good care if it, this helps teach people that their like any other amimal. What about vipers? Yes, these snakes are more dangerous to keep, but they are invaluable to the medical field for their venom.
Wow, that must be a frenzy during feeding time! And I was thinking more of the Viperkeeper guy on youtube with his cobras and mambas. Sadly some people do think all snakes are venomous and write all owners as crazy despite never actually learning about the animals. Also I know tarantulas are not venomous, but depending on the species they can get really big. Cute lil nippers though.
why would anyone think snakes are slimy? there are many species of aquatic snake, but the liquid on them is just plain water, not the foul ectoplasm of a thousand doomed soulds
1. They don't have any odor. 2. They're easy to maintain. 3. Reptiles make great companions and cost way less than a dog, cat, or bird which might not ever grow on you because they're relationships are loyalty based while a reptile's is survival based. 4. Reptiles are quiet animals for the most part. 5. Snakes don't need to eat everyday which cuts down on cost vs an animal that needs to eat everyday. 6. It's more likely for your dog to get loose and kill several animals than for your python or other snake to get loose and kill several animals. 7. Pythons and other reptiles are even more tempered and well mannered than a cat or dog. 8. Reptiles are unique and exotic compared to the average pet and make a great conversation starter. 9. Another fear people have is having to feed their reptile live. Reptiles can always eat frozen or be converted to frozen. 10. You're more likely to die in a spaceship crash than to have your bp deliberately bite you. 11. Most of the time reptile bites are over exaggerated, but when my bp bit me because he MISSED the rat, i just put some hand sanitizer on it and i never got an infection. Also, it hurt wayyyy less than when my dog bites me, and he's just a yorkie. 11. Reptiles are great for responsible kids. They're colorful, gentle, and make a great educational part of the kid's life. 12. When snakes escape a house, it's usually because they're deliberately set free. Most pet snakes are slow moving, and if they aren't, their more likely to curl up in a dark place. This is a precaution I take when housing my reptiles. I only keep them in uncomplicated rooms. 13. Reptile and snake fears are easily conquered with a little bit of experience and knowledge. 14. Everyone loves snakes. It's a fact. If you say you hate snakes and you've never owned/held one, leave. :) 15. Snakes are easy to handle and relieve stress. (for me at least) 16. I've never raised a reptile that hasn't grown on me! However, I've been training my dog since he was a pup and he absolutely hates me! I'd trade him for another reptile anytime honestly. 17. Reptiles are drop dead adorable. Pythons have lil puppy mouths like how,, can you,,, not lov,,, them,,??
FeatherstarAnimates with the dog I recommend giving it longer walks and treating it with its favorite treat then try to pet it if it bites you say bad boy then leave it be if it goes away leave it be just sit on the floor with a treat LET IT COME TO YOU when it takes the treat if it stays great! Move the treat closer to you so they would need to get up on your lap let it get the treat say good boy if it leaves say nothing don't try to pet it when your doing this you are teaching it when it comes around you good things happen when it stays to eat the treat on your lap say good boy and when it starts looking for more put a treat in one hand and try to pet it in another the key is to figure out where it likes to be pet my Shih Tzu would jump in the Mississippi River swim back do a back flip learn the way of the ninja cure cancer kill Donald trump for a bacon bit and a head scratch look at its body language if it tensed up stop and move on if it closes its eyes you are doing something right when you see it scratching do it for them and most importantly if it doesn't what to be bothered don't wait until the dog gives you the dog version of flipping you off just leave it alone then give it a walk (dogs are aways better after that energy is out especially small breeds) with dogs it's all about them knowing when they don't want to be around you they don't have to
FeatherstarAnimates Eight is so true. I love seeing people's wowed faces when I take my tortoise out. Lots of people seem interested and I love giving them info. My little cousin loves him. I wouldn't trade him for the world. True about eleven too. Mine's accidentally bit me for the same reason. True about your last point too. I love my tortoise's grumpy face. I love the way his eyes wander too.
" Another fear people have is having to feed their reptile live. Reptiles can always eat frozen or be converted to frozen." I wanna add something to this. Feeding reptiles mice or insects is *way* better for the environment than feeding a dog or cat chicken, beef, etc. The livestock we use to feed dogs and cats have a tremendous negative impact on the environment. I own a cat and I love him but I probably won't get another one after him because of my concerns about that. If PETA actually cared about animals and the environment they'd be promoting minimal impact pets like reptiles
My corn snake has NEVER: -caused my neighbors to file a noise complaint -showed any sign of aggression outside of defending himself -made me sneeze because unlike cats or dogs he has no fur -needed feeding and cleaning more than once a week -produced an odor fouler than any that's come off my boyfriend My corn snake IS: -the cheapest pet I've ever owned overall (the others being a chinchilla and golden retriever) -very affectionate and tolerant of people -hypoallergenic, for the most part (he doeasnt upste my dander allergy) -a sweet baby that likes to curl up in pockets and slither about
sydney soverns lawl cheap for you most be a few Gs because Chinchillas cost upward of a thousand bucks, need regular vet check ups, shots, dust baths, spwcific food, etc
This will probably be lost in the sea of comments, but here's the list: 1. They are cute 2. They are easy to take care of 3. They are cute 4. They are pretty safe 5. They are cute 6. They don't cost much 7. They are cute 8. They don't make much noise 9. They are cute 10. They make great yt videos 11. They are cute
My rosy boa is literally the cuddliest animal I have ever had I don't get why this person thinks that snakes can't be held, plus like you said, if she doesn't want to be held she flinches or slithers away from me.
I had a Rosy named Axel! Loved him to bits he was such a chill snake. Had to give him to a high school biology teacher because a household member hated snakes. Dumb teacher changed his name, fed him LIVE, he got bit and she didn't get it treated so he passed away.
Reasons to get a snake 1) Any animal is an animal that needs love 2)My anxiety makes having any other animal hard and my snake is the only pet I've EVER had that actually helps 3) Snakes are very easy beginner pets, especially Ball Pythons 4)Snake Breeders and Dog Breeders are SO DIFFERENT. A) Proper snake breeders are so loving of animals. They answer ANY and ALL questions... and will help you with more information after.
I don’t think snake and dog breeders are all that different. Both kinds of breeders have people who are solely in it for the money and will treat their animals like crap and don’t care about the health of the offspring. But both have breeders who actively care about the welfare for the breed/species and will do their best to ensure that the best animals are bred and the offspring are both healthy and given to loving homes.
1) Not really... each animal has it's own needs, not every animal needs the love a dog needs for example, and each individual animal has some specific needs as well. I get the point but it's tecnically not true that all animals enjoy human love the same 2) that's true, they're actually calm and simple and easy to handle and be around with when you learn the way 3) yea 4) Yes.
Pluto the Forgotten one There are people trying to breed pugs into their original form (selecting the pugs with the longest nose) and they are called "Retro Pugs". They are adorable and healthy. Unfortunately few people breed them responsibly.
Animals are beneficial to humans' health, including mental health. They're good at reducing stress and anxiety, and can be very helpful to people with certain disorders
I got my blizzard cornsnake from a pet shop near my house, as no one really wants a baby and she was blind no one wanted her. They were going to put her down at the end of the week if she wasn't sold, I fell in love. I was also going through a really bad depression at the time, and having another creature to look after really helped me heal and concentrate on something other than myself. I'd wanted a snake since I was little and did a lot of research into them (via your channel) before I bought her. She has such an amazing personality and is so so friendly, I can't see PETA's point honestly... I can't think of one reason for me not to have bought her.
Also I personally don't eat meat (not going to be that preachy vegan dw), but I've never had a problem feeding my reptiles what they need to survive. It's the food chain? It's very very natural, id never stop my animals from getting what they need.
Paola A. Garcia Alicea Vegan Gains made his rare species of dog eat a vegan diet. She is a type of dog that has to have meat to survive. The dog got so sick she was nearly taken from him... He's a sickening person. He also thinks it's okay to kill people, but not animals. He's a total sicko... Not to mention a lot of animals we eat are taken care of very well except for a few select farms who abuse their animals with excessive hormones till they can't walk anymore and die. It's only small cases that the media blows up that this happens in. How we raise our food is NOT inhumane.
PETA is one of the few things that gets me riled immediately. My noodle is being trained to be an ESA for me, as my lizard never became accustomed to handling, which is totally fine! It's not his personality. S'mores, however, is at the point where initially being picked up is spooky, but after a while, if you stand still, her extremely curious personality takes over. She also likes meeting new people, and will immediately climb onto them at the moment of introduction. She loves to slither, weave, burrow, swim, climb, honestly give her an activity, and she'll probably dive right into it! Then again, she's a kingsnake which are known for their active lives. She also has issues with doing normal snake things, like she dislikes tong feeding and prefers bowls with the mice laid into them, so really PETA, as usual, is talking out of their fucking ass.
1 Snakes are great for people who can't have animals with fur or feathers because they can still be held and have great personality. 2 They do not require a yard 3 They are beautiful 4 They are not loud 5 Their food is readily available, and does not have to be given daily
6. They make cool keeps like nice sheds 7. They have a wow factor 8. The food is extremely cheap 9. Snakes are cheap to keep overall 10. Do not require much space 11. Many different sizes of snakes 12. Many, many different color patterns to chose from 13. Don't need much attention 14. Minimum cleaning is required
when my asthma was bad i only had my snakes (i only had one) and my two goldfish now i have loads of animal children/siblings i still cant have birds ;-;
They are pretty to look at They are good for people that dont have much time because you dont need to feed them everyday They are cute They dont need to go on walks everyday like dogs
I have always struggled with depression and an illness that that keeps me in and out of the hospital. When I was young, my dad had two snakes and he taught me how to properly care for them, I eventually asked for one of my own. My parents were fine with it and the next month we found ourselves in Dog Alley at First Monday, this is where I get most of my non-rescue animals. We found a vendor selling snakes and I went around looking for one I liked. I ended up buying a 4ft Ball Python. Do keep in mind that I was a small and sickly child so I wasn't much taller than this snake was long. My parents were of course weary about my choice and did not allow me to handle him unsupervised for about two years. But we eventually got into a rhythm and I was allowed to get him out and take him to my room whenever I wanted. This snake, who honestly was never named even though we had him for over 5 years we just called him Snake, was one of the best pets I've ever had. He became my support animal. As soon as I got home from school he'd be waiting on his rock for me to take him to my room where I'd do my homework and he'd do his thing then we'd take a nap, him on a pillow at the end of my bed and me cuddled with a plushy. This went on from when I was 6 to 11 years old. But sadly I lost him to illness during the fall when I was 11. My parents and I had gone on a vacation and left my older cousin the key to our house to take care of the animals. The day before we were set to come back we got a call from him saying that my snake was missing, we went home immediately. We looked for him for hours to no avail. My room got to near freezing that night because I forgot to turn my heater back on while we were looking so I slept with my parents. I found Snake the next morning while looking for a toy, he was under my bed. It was obvious that he was suffering from hypothermia and we tried our best to save him but he died the next day. Even if there had been an exotic vet near enough to get him there he still would not have survived, he had been there in that freezing room two nights in a row, the nanny cam we had in the reptile room showed him escaping a few hours after my cousin had left the day before the call. The lid to his cage hadn't been latched properly. I miss him dearly. I've had several snakes since, though none now because I'm prepping for college. And my dad just lost his snake Shaggy, a 10ft Carpet Python, a few months back. He was one of the snakes my dad had 12 years ago when I got Snake. We are still mourning his death but he lived a happy full life, he was older than me, around 20 years old.
Misty Dawn That sounds like a really sweet snake. I'm sorry about him. People don't realise snakes can have feelings for their humans same as a dog or cat if you spend time with it. They think snakes have no emotions and only want to eat/kill.
Misty Dawn Sympathetic. A guy up here in Alaska had a giant snake that ran away outside just before winter, and he kept looking Day and night around his property for weeks until the frost over period, at which point he sadly had to give up.
Edit: The video I did with your reasons! th-cam.com/video/l8b1qprESnQ/w-d-xo.html&lc=z23qelh4xsznvtcrs04t1aokg35yr0jorv1vib5oqpftbk0h00410 Wow! Thank you so much for over 5,000 subscribers!!! I'll try and figure out something special for a video soon :) Also, I want to reiterate that I have no problem with PETA giving their opinion on a hobby, as negative as it may be. My issue is they give people false information to promote their opinion which is simply unfair. It forces people to form a negative mindset on a whole hobby without even fully understanding it, along with turning people away from the amazing community of responsible reptile keepers who genuinely care about their animals. th-cam.com/video/wxJ80nRh3jE/w-d-xo.html
GoHerping u deserve all the subs and likes and views because ur channel is amazing and very educational I came to ur channel and found the corn snake video on how to care for them, i have a beautiful corn snake now, also I can correct care for her so u deserve all the support:) have an amazing day!❤
1. They are good animals to teach people they're not bad 2. they're very interesting 3.They're easier to take care of then many other animals such as dogs 4. They don't make noise 5.they come in many different patterns and colors
1. Snakes do not smell 2. They are pretty cheap 3. There enclosures look amazing 4. They can help people get over there fears. 5. They are kinda cute 6. They are interesting 7. They don't make a mess
a Reason I like about having a snake: Snakes, at least to me, help as a stress reliever and personal company. Holding a snake is oddly soothing to me. Could be the way snakes move through your fingers and hands that makes them calming to hold and relaxing to watch. Plus I find them rather relatable; eat, sleep/hide all day, stay up all night.
I came to the conclusion that PETA is a cult. 1-Praising something (Animals). 2-Sacrifices (Their kill rates) to the love of animals. 3-Spreading the word about them (Their bullshit propaganda), using fake facts to manipulate people. 4-Torturing people who don't agree with them (non-vegans, responsible breeders, etc.) by showing what happens when you don't support them (Animal abuse videos) 5- A leader (Ingrid Newkirk) 6-Using nudity to bring "studs" (I'm sorry) into their cult And many other stuff...
dove they’re hilarious and sad. Their “video games” are comical. If you don’t play yourselves, there’s let’s play videos of them. 😆 I think there was this one PETA thing they posted about how chimps only eat plants and they are our closest relatives. Some guy’s response was a picture of chimps eating a monkey.
I got my Blue-Eyed Leucistic Ball Python from a breeder on TH-cam named Balls2u. That guy obviously loves snakes more than you can ever imagine, and the snake he sent me, he is the most amazing, friendly and sweetest little snake ever. His feeding response is incredible, he loves people and loves being held (even in shed and after feeding!), he is in spectacular health and his behavior definitely shows he is a happy snake. PETA are talking utter bullshit that snakes are not happy living in vivariums or tubs instead of being in the wild. Hell, if my BEL male was out in the wild, he'd die very quickly because he's pure white! He'll stick out like a sore thumb! EDIT :: I forgot to add, yes, he eats frozen-thawed and I buy the mice pre-killed and pre-frozen online.
If captivity is so bad for snakes then explain why their lifespan is so much longer in captivity. They already said that stress can makes snakes ill so that must mean that the snakes aren’t stress if cared for correctly, since they don’t get ill as much.
They make it seem like all animals are happier and healthier in the wild when that is not necessarily true. In the wild they are constantly trying to find food while avoiding being eaten themselves...sounds incredibly stressful to me.
"This one does not make very sense" 10/10 - IGN Awesome video, you really did your research! I have a few reason to keep snakes and reptiles in general: 1) they teach responsibility 2) they give people, kids especially something to love, then promote conservation and fight for it 3) they can be ambassadors to "creepy crawlers" and help people get over there phobias, which could potentially save thousands of reptile lives (maybe idk) 4) they are just awesome 5) help people understand the world around them better 6) captive reptiles can be "insurance colonies" for species on the edge of extinction 7) they don't smell, take up a lot of space (usually) don't eat a lot, and generally easier to care for than most mammals and birds 8) they go well with living vivariums and help keep the tank healthier overall, like a mini enclosed Eco system 9) they very interesting to study, and we can learn lots from them, such as a possible cure to I think it was diabetes in Gila Monster venom (not entirely sure) but captive milking is more efficient, less dangerous, and less stressful for the animals 10) I already said it, but they are just awesome
No fluffy noodles if you live in California. Also those are cute but they smell and like to destroy everything. If you get one just name it Taz. Trust me, it'll fit.
They are low matinence They are very unique creatures There is a ton of breeds with different personalities A lot of breeds couldn't harm a person You can adopt snakes They come in a HUGE variety of colors They have easy feeding requirements THEY ARE FREAKING ADORABLE
NightjumperOC Well, it all depends on the type of breed you get! Some are high maitenence, while some are low maintenance. I own a 'fancy' Corn snake, and they're pretty low maitenence!
You shall make a video on Hawaii. Hawaii bans snakes because they say they are "too dangerous to the environment". Dogs are an environmental hazard too, yet the state allows them.
The #1 most dangerous animal to any environment (after humans) is the domestic cat. It's outrageous how many species of birds and other small animals have gone extinct because of them.
Possibly Because of over population of tropical venomous/poisonous snakes. And for any snake, theres so much flat ground because of trails and small paths. So you could step on a snake any day, I was born there and yeah its kind of unfair, but they should at least have domesticated snakes, for good handling, instead of wild ones that they have to worry about. (Sorry I got all _science_ but this was about Hawaii and like That's my hometoWN-)
Literally the funniest thing I saw on PETA’s website was how they criticize pet owners and stores for putting snakes in small enclosures. Like that’s literally what they enjoy! They want something to feel secure in, not be in the open plains where they will get eaten.
1.constrictors give the best hugs 2. Some snakes (Like ball pythons) don't even bite when feeling threatened. Just curl up and hide underneath themselves.
I remember being wrapped by my "Uncle's" andaconda! (not in a choking manner but in like a huggy kinda deal) She was the sweetest thing, and made a pretty nice belt while she was wrapped around my waist! To this day, I still love reptiles from snakes to lizards to even crocs and gators! (I actually touched a croc/gator before in an animal show with my "Uncle"...And holy crap, that skin is leathery!) Oh, and one more thing: Why I call my "Uncle" with appostrophies, is because he's not my biological Uncle. He's a really close friend of my mom, my step-dad, and myself! I really want a snake, perferably a Ball Python since I prefer constricting snakes because they give the best hugs. And they are super cute.
funny.. thoes reason why snakes are not a great pet goes same to any other pets. we hear dogs got loose and killing people, we hear about dog breeder who are only after money, other pets from other country also suffer if they are in differnt climate (like husky living in deasert climate..) and any other pets have their own specialized need as well (ex, some cats hate being touch. it is hard to notice when cats are sick cuz they do not usually show it.). and little did they know... cats and dogs eat MEAT as well. And their claim of cativity is cruel goes same with any other pets. And about the mortality, hamsters and rabbits are more fragile then snakes. My point is that this article really should have been "5 Reasons why you should not keep any pet."
Grace Lee That's why if you're gonna have a pet you should put the money into it's comfort. It's like PETA cannot fathom the idea of pets living in comfort.
Reno KyrieliumGodOfVoid That's racist. (Just kidding) Seriously though, you know an ethical group is bad when a reptile like me is calling them out on their bullshit.
You just destroyed these people!!! It's funny how you're much more mature than these people! You're so polite about it too you aren't even spreading the hate ❤ Thank you for making this video I've seen people treat reptiles as if a toy you can buy yet they treat their furry pets like royalty!!
I have a corn snake living with me. She is honestly the sweetest girl, and she loves to sit with me, curl up in my pockets and in the summers she loves being in the sun on me! (And she has a 8’ tank, she’s only going to be 5’5 or so!)
I would never think a snake would be so affectionate, considering reptile brains only have essential parts, which means their behaviour is purely natural instincts. Your snake just changed my outlook on reptile knowledge.
CRAZED GAMING DJ snakes can learn that people are safe and warm, they don’t actually care about you they just know you’re not dangerous and keep them healthy
1. You can boop their snoots 2. You can make peta angry 3. They're THICC 4. They are the sweetest things ever 5. Just get snakes they're being mistreated by these breeding facilities and you can save them along with providing them a good home with lots of love and boops!
-they can be loved just as much as dogs or cats -theyre very interesting animals! -cute (at least in my opinion) -like you said, snakes can be very docile and tolerant of humans -they can be very well taken care of by those who care those are just some, but i most definitely love my corn snake so much
"all the sensory pleasure" Yeah like having parasites and dying from disease or a predator. Snakes are perfectly happy to skip that shit I promise you PETA.
its like at one school some man came to talk how badly ALL cows are treated and stand always in their own shit. The students asked, have you ever been in dairy farm? The man said, no. The students asked, do you wanna see how our cows are kept? again, no. wtf you are talking how ppl treat cows when you havent in been in a dairy farm.
While I do agree factory farming needs serious work, most dairy farms only have an average of 200 cows and are not run that way. Have you ever been to a working dairy farm...one that follows USDA guidelines? Those undercover films are filmed at farms that are not the norm, they try to find the most horrible violators and present that as standard practice. Farmers are motivated to produce the highest quality milk they can, they get more money for it so they do their best to keep their cows healthy. Yes cows must be pregnant first to give milk but they are not "raped" that is imposing a very human concept on an animal. Cows may be impregnated by a bull or by artificial insemination. Insemination is often chosen because it's far easier on the cow than being mounted by a 2000 lb bull that could injure them in the process. Farms follow the natural cycle that a cow would get pregnant on it's own but if the cow is sick or weak they wait until it is healthier. Dairy cows have been bred to make far more milk than their calves can possibly drink, the cows will actually come to the milking station on their own and line up to be milked because it feels good to get all that milk out. A dairy cow will produce milk an average of 5 to 10 years. When a farmer retires a milk cow they usually sell the cow at auction...sometimes the buyer will slaughter the cow for meat but not always.
I can see we have a fundamental disagreement about how we look at the world but that's ok. What is not ok is describing artificially inseminating a cow as "rape." It dilutes the meaning of the word and downplays the seriousness of what has happened to actual human victims of rape. Cows do not have a concept of rape, that is you anthropomorphizing them.
Peta needs to straighten themselves out reptiles are animals why not help them too peta should be called the peopple for the enthinic treatment of vegan organic natural animals.
No, PETA is a horrible monster of an organization, People Euthanizing Totally helpless Animals would be more accurate. They fund terrorism, euthanize the vast majority of animals that they obtain (>95%), steal pets (who are then immediately euthanized) and threaten lawsuits towards everyone who says bad things about them.
Here’s 100 reasons why snakes make good pets 😁 1. Snakes and reptiles don’t have fur so they are good for people who are allergic to furry animals 2. They teach people responsibility and looking into detail from the slightly more complex care 3. They are in a wide variety which can teach people more about nature 4. They are a good hobby 5. They are normally nice 6. They are not super expensive depending on the species 7. They can hang out in your hand while doing doing things like homework are watching a movie 8. They help people with fears since the fear of snakes is very common 9. They are cute (that’s more of a opinion but still) 10. They are exotic pets (people like exotic things) 11. They can be bred in captivity 12. You can make a job out of owning them 13. They come in many different kings so you can chose what you like 14. They don’t need a ton of space 15. They are not loud 16. They don’t make noise so they don’t annoy you like a dog would bark or a bird would chirp 17. If you got bit by one you wouldn’t die 18. You can have lots of them and they won’t take to much space 45. Most are not a threat at all to people 46. You can hoop them 47. They can flick their tongues 48. They don’t ruin your furniture 49. They don’t make messes 50. They will be fine if you leave them for a couples days (unless they need specific every day needs) 51. They can inspire children 52. You can have them for along time unlike some other pets like rodents 96. They have lots of different patterns 97. They have very small teeth (most of them) 98. Most snakes are not venomous (obviously) 99. They don’t carry diseases that can be given to people 100. They are amazing Thank you if you read all of this 😅😌😌. Hope this is good enough Alex 🤣🐍
Snakes share a great bond with people and they're fairly easy to take care of. Most people hate snakes due to the fact they eat mice and rats etc, it's not their fault they eat mice. Although it is our fault that we kill snakes for our personal enjoyment.
Liv Vancura Which is irritating because rats and mice are hated too. So why do they care if one animal they hate eats another animal they hate... Is it because of the fur? I love all 3 so I don't understand what all the hate is about. I've seen plenty of TH-cam commenters talking about how they like to kill rodents (as if it turns them on or something)...
Yes Hello I Am Snek Contrary. I like to kill rodents because if they get into our Cache they will spoil and disease our entire food supply for the winter and we will starve. Explanation. Subsistence Homesteading in Alaska.
Yes Hello I Am Snek Agreed. I love reptiles, have a Bearded Dragon and Leopard Gecko and would like a snake, and would in fact encourage it. Contrary. In reality though, the Cache is supposed to keep food frozen during the winter and high off the ground, out of reach of animals, and we’ve been in the position of nearly starving because mice got into it, making it impossible for the snake to survive up there. Clarification. I don’t “enjoy” watching a mouse die, but I DO enjoy indulging my Bearded Dragon’s “Hunter Instinct” which actually on average keeps them happier and they live longer. Additional. I breed my own Super-worms too.
Some reasons: Snakes are incredible for learning. I got my intrest in herpetology from my herpetology class that I have in my school. We were responsible for caring for Corn Snakes. They do indeed love the heat of our hands, resulting in getting along with owners. They indeed do flinch or hiss when you do something you don't like, my class has learned that the hard way. You are not stressing the snake out when you old it, unless you are holding it wrong, which is kind of hard to do.
Maybe somebody should go to their offices in the U.S. and say you are dead right im handing over my pet snakes to you, then tip a box of rattlesnakes onto the floor and walk out.
What inspires me most about reptiles is having my own personal zoo without much effort. Since childhood I was very interested in animals, but my parents agreed to get me only budgies and cat (and between those and the other there was a time when we lived without pets). I suffered greatly without contact with different animals, dreaming that when I grew up, I would have many mammals, birds and fish. Of reptiles I was only interested in turtles. But dreams were shattered into reality, where animals poop, and they had to be cleaned up, or they needed a lot of equipment. I read a lot about keeping different animals, and I finally realized that snakes and spiders are what I need. Yes, it also need care, setup vivariums, and they poop far from flowers, but anyway, a dozen snakes take less daily care than one guinea pig. And the more different species I read about, the more poikiloterms pets displaced almost all the other positions on my wishlist. (Of course, I still dream about toucans and dogs and some wild felidae, but that’s just little part of the variety I wanted before. These are magnificent enough for me to suffer for every day, but anyway I can’t get it to my apartment, yet, but if I have a private house.) The dwarf emperor boa was the first animal I bought with my scholarship, then I got a crested gecko and a couple of tarantulas. I’m not going to stop at this, but I’m trying to listen to myself and thoughtfully choose that pets I’m really want to care about.
Snakes are the sweetest animals ever, literally they are the best therapy animals ever!! I may only have 7 but I love them till the day I die and hope to be a breeder a good one, that will take care of them like they deserve.
There's only one reason I feel really matters when it comes to owning snakes. Snakes are extremely therapeutic. Ask any decent snake owner and they can tell you that they have to remain calm and relaxed when handling a snake, so like Pavlov's dog, every time these snake keepers get ready to do their daily snake maintenance, that natural relaxation settles in. There is nothing more satisfying when having a snake curl up to you for warmth or curiously climb all over you. It's like having a full body massage with a noodle friend. If the snake knows you and cares about you the way a snake can, associating you with care and comfort, they will absolutely show that love.
Why snakes are good pets: 1) They are great beginner pets 2) They are hella cute 3) They don't have to be walked every day 4) They teach responsibility 5) You don't have to feed it every day 6) It doesn't need as much attention as a dog, but it still needs attention
My snake has become something of an emotional support for me. His gentle undulations in my hand are mesmerizing and calming. Sometimes I will get really frustrated trying to complete a task and I'll pause, take him out (if he's awake), and just hold him and talk to him and let him slither. He's an intelligent creature with a real personality. He loves my body heat and always pokes out of his hide when he hears me singing. He's a good boi and a great pet for someone like me who can't own a dog or cat where they live.
I bought from a responsible breeder and I plan on becoming a rough collie breeder (currently studying the Rough Collie and breeding) I am ready to be burned to a stake.
List of why you should get snakes 1. THEY'RE FRICKING CUTE 2. GOOD NOODLE CHILDREN 3. IF YOU CARE FOR THEM PROPERLY BY GETTING A GOOD CAGE AND BEING CAREFUL, THEY WON'T ESCAPE 4. THEY'RE JUST SO GREAT
Why a snake is a GREAT PET: THEY ARE · QUIET · BEAUTIFUL · FUN TO WATCH · FUN TO RAISE · FUN TO TAME · EDUCATIONAL · STYLE THE TANK · FUN TO FEED · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · ·
Wow great video Alex! I am seriously inspired by this video! It's great seeing someone young like you in the good fight to keep herps as pets. I'm probably gonna do a follow up video on this topic thanks to you! Just to help spread the word! As for great info on snakes. Sure quiet. Hypoallergenic( cause they don't shed dander like dogs and cats), clean, and make great pets for children with autism due to their quiet nature and not loud noises like a dog or a cat! I hope this helps! And congrats on 5,000 subs! You deserve them!
I don't understand why PETA hates herpers or any animal keepers... watching videos like yours helped me understand lots more about each and every animal presented.
Screw peta I'm keeping my pet ball python named Mr cuddles and you can't take him from me he's a sweet heart (found Mr cuddles in a recycal bin as a baby)
I love my pet snake because she enjoys the warmth of the body, and like to snuggle into my skin. I like having her because shes a pet I can keep on me, for several hours, without worrying about getting pooped on. (She is not full size yet). This is also a plus because she will hold onto me, so I don't really have to worry about her falling. I like having a pet snake because they only eat about once a week so maintenance is super low. I like my snake because she responds to my voice and likes the vibrations of being talked to.
Little girl: *buys puppy*

True but instead of buys it should be adopts
@@danielthegamer256 if Peta tries to take my pets (2 dogs 2 cats a snake 2 bearded dragons and a hamster) I will stab a bitch
@@everybody48 but what if they don't have the breed of dog you want and if it was abused when it was a baby it will hate all humans then.
@@danielthegamer256 Its still better to adopt than buy, otherwise you are just helping puppy mills gain more money. Shelters have all kinds of good boys and fluffer nuggets!
@@keeper7648 Except if you're buying from a lone breeder. I got my dog from a breeder friend, and she is great! But yeah, you should adopt.
"Snakes shun human contact." Yeah, if they're feral. Pet snakes love curling around the giant, walking heating pad!
No no Vicky hates me she loves to curl up like a scarf and curl around my glasses but she hates human contact
Karina Peters Lucky bastard tag needed
Karina Peters he must really like you lol
My friends snake loved me
He hugged my arm with his mouth
The comments on this are the best
You know they haven't done enough research when they call a terrarium an aquarium.
Pieter D lol true
LMAOO
Pieter D hey PETA did their research they just treat all lizards as if they were fish.
By making them breath water.
Fish and reptiles both have scales which makes them the same thing Right? RIGHT?

As a falconer I only bred reptiles so I can feed and train my falcons and hawks. Reptiles are far too stupid to be a pets. But they are a great source of protein for highly intelligent birds and mammals (my hawks, falcons and dogs)
Did you just assume my breeder?
"There are no good reasons to buy a snake."
Well that's just bullshit.
Logan West lol it sounds like his snake works like a neck collar immobilizer thingy
That sounds like it would sound fake but later is found to be true
your neighbour is under your bed nope, it seems to put just the right amount of pressure on his neck
Logan West that sounds like a very nice story but there's no way that is real, sorry
Fletcher Spillers I mean, you don't have to believe me, but I don't see why it's such a difficult thing to believe. I guess I would be skeptical as well, since I don't really have any proof. But it is true, there's not much more I can say...
1) Snakes can help with fear.
2) Snakes are NOT slimy, they are smooth (Not really a reason but still)
3) Some snakes can be bite-y, but that can either be from abuse from the past or they’re just great eaters and think everything is food.
4) Snakes need very little. A water bowl, hides, moss for condensation, a heat lamp as I do not recommend a *heat mat because it can burn the animal, soft bedding, and obviously food.
(*Heat mats with regulators are great! Just make sure you have one. Thx to taraluna01)
5) Snakes are the kind of animals that are calm and just explore. Some are fast and some are slow.
*6) Sneaky snek*

8) They can help w/ mental illnesses and can fix (almost) any fear related w/ reptiles.

9) Snek is cool. (Thx to *A Pretty birb/dogman patrick* )
Thot 7) b o o p t h e s n o o t.
Honestly I would’ve gotten my first land reptile since my full on first reptile was a turtle.I got over my fear through watching videos about snakes. They’re absolutely beautiful and I would love to have a snake but my parents aren’t really fans of snakes.
I HAVE A CORNSNAKE NAMED BOOPERSNOOT
*Yaneznayo. That is the best name for a snake.*
4) Heat mats are great, if you have a regulator on it. My snake is nocturnal and needs a ton of humidity so a heat mat on the bottom of a plastic tub is perfect for me.
1.Snakes are good pets for people who have allergies
2. They are not loud like a dog or bird
3.they are calm
Herping with Will
4. Snakes don't love you and they want to kill you when you sleep
IHateBimbos - Proof, its like if I say dogs don't love you. They only like you because you feed them..
IHateBimbos - I've never had a snake pet, but Its pretty dumb to say all snakes are like that? All pitbulls are not evil, why all snakes?
5 REASONS NEVER TO BUY A SNAKE
"because some People abuse snakes"
oh gosh...
blah blah just like the whole pitbull debate
If some people abuse snakes, you will.
blah blah They have no trust in anybody!
This is more a reason why to have a snek
blah blah oh no well better give my ball python back to the pet store because some people abuse snakes
My friend has a snake for an emotional support animal. She is allergic to fur and feathers
TheDemonFerret I agree!
People are less allergic to snakes than birds, dogs, or cats,
Snakes cost less than dogs and cats
Snakes are cool as hell
The Lone Paper clip thank you I am severely allergic to all animals with hair or furr or feathers and reptiles we're so.e cool pets ibgit to own
But they are escape artists.
@@patchvvorks5586 Snakes aren't escape artists, it's just that they don't need that big of an opening to escape.
Yea and the salmonella thing they’ve been saying about if you wash your hands and give your snek lots of stimulation and treat he/she as your friend it’s actually easy
@@KSun-cc8yf Same with beardies, just wash your hands after handling the animal and you'll be fine.
My roommate in college had a ball python. I put her around my neck when I had a fever and she just sat there and absorbed my body heat and helped break my fever without meds. She loved lying around my neck and didn't want to leave.

Still a nice story
Ryde Mk they don't have the strength to
Reasons why sneks are amazing:
-boop the snoot
-great emotional support animals bc they don't have feathers or fur so someone like me can own one ( I'm allergic to fur and feathers)
-some species live for like 20 years
And they can be super cuddlesome bois.
And for reptiles with legs they are so nice
Absolutely beautiful animals that also has a scale-less variant if you don't like the "slimy" feeling of scales
SVS Tuber WITH legs? Or without legs
Im actualy want a snake ball phyton might be nice but im curios is there a snake with viper scale that ist venomous those are so beautiful
Snakes can be therapy pets. I have really bad anxiety and I suffer with depression. I have a ball python named Lola and I love her. She is really soothing to look at and handle and she calms me down. I know she can't understand what I say so I can say anything to her without her judging me.
Erin Nguyen dude same hereeeee and btw my nick name is Lola haha
Erin Nguyen Drugs are also good for therapy
Erin Nguyen My baby Ball Python likes to slither through my fingers and it's to relaxing when I hold him; it's like a hand massage.
Erin Nguyen my gecko helps me the same way! he is adorable. he likes to play gta 5 with me. I let him "drive".
Reasons to own reptiles:
- They help with mental illnesses. Like depression.
- It’s fun to decorate the enclosures they go into
- They are cute/adorable
- It’s fun to hold them when you are doing stuff.
Not many mentioned the enclosure building but it's a great one to put on the list.
Lyn I think decorating the tanks are super fun!
I don’t have a snake (I have a leo) but he will chill on my shoulder when I’m reading or doing homework and it’s amazing. and we watch vine compilations together
This is true of any pet though...
-people arent usually allergic
Six-Zero-Six Defender Of Justice! HA. CRABITAT
Six-Zero-Six Defender Of Justice! My sister's hermit crabs live in a tank bigger than my gecko! Lol.
Reasons:
- they're heckin cute
- they aren't extremely high-maintenance, you just have to feed them regularly and clean their cage, unlike a dog or cat who needs lots of attention (but dogs and cats are still good)
- even if snakes do need some expensive equipment, it doesn't need to be maintained as often as a cats litter box or similar materials
- they're cool too
Also you can boop them
Cats don't need that much attention honestly. They just need food, a liter box, and high places to climb.

1. Snakes are beautiful
2. Most are pretty chill
3. There’s never a mean snake, just a defensive snake
that's very true, I think it's tecnically the most important point, they're practically low maintenance, and very chill. not many animals are like that, it's something snakes do very well. There are people who just can't have a cat or a dog running around and taking space and needing too much attention. Or they have a psycological problem and can't get any other pets, so snakes are great companions
*snek
snakes should be banned!! they should not be pets!!
johnofavalon1 Take your bait somewhere else
If you take care of snakes they can be awesome pets usually only needing to be feed once a week
and they are cute
Best reason a snake is a great pet:
Give them a hat and they'll be the most adorable noodle ever
Edit: PETA blocked me on twitter

Daddy Tom I Would love to see the adorable noodle
Daddy Tom they are so snazzy~

Why
FairlyoddArtist you mean valuable, right?
Hiphyro ...yes?
why would anyone think snakes are slimy? there are many species of aquatic snake, but the liquid on them is just plain water, not the foul ectoplasm of a thousand doomed soulds
My bearded dragon is the best dog I've ever had. He never barks and only wants cuddles and nom noms
Beardies are the best lizards
Yes. The scaly boi is da best boi.

"Know to not be the best organization"
That's an understatement.
That's putting them in a good light, they support eco terrorist groups and euthanize peoples pets who they have lured away from their owners
15. Snakes are easy to handle and relieve stress. (for me at least)
* also reptiles live a long time though im not sure of that's a good thing or bad thing
Move the treat closer to you so they would need to get up on your lap let it get the treat say good boy if it leaves say nothing don't try to pet it when your doing this you are teaching it when it comes around you good things happen when it stays to eat the treat on your lap say good boy and when it starts looking for more put a treat in one hand and try to pet it in another the key is to figure out where it likes to be pet my Shih Tzu would jump in the Mississippi River swim back do a back flip learn the way of the ninja cure cancer kill Donald trump for a bacon bit and a head scratch look at its body language if it tensed up stop and move on if it closes its eyes you are doing something right when you see it scratching do it for them and most importantly if it doesn't what to be bothered don't wait until the dog gives you the dog version of flipping you off just leave it alone then give it a walk (dogs are aways better after that energy is out especially small breeds) with dogs it's all about them knowing when they don't want to be around you they don't have to
FeatherstarAnimates I love your list....
My corn snake has NEVER:
-caused my neighbors to file a noise complaint
-showed any sign of aggression outside of defending himself
-made me sneeze because unlike cats or dogs he has no fur
-needed feeding and cleaning more than once a week
-produced an odor fouler than any that's come off my boyfriend
My corn snake IS:
-the cheapest pet I've ever owned overall (the others being a chinchilla and golden retriever)
-very affectionate and tolerant of people
-hypoallergenic, for the most part (he doeasnt upste my dander allergy)
-a sweet baby that likes to curl up in pockets and slither about

My rosy boa is literally the cuddliest animal I have ever had I don't get why this person thinks that snakes can't be held, plus like you said, if she doesn't want to be held she flinches or slithers away from me.
The Outdoor Explorer rosy boas are the best!
I had a Rosy named Axel! Loved him to bits he was such a chill snake. Had to give him to a high school biology teacher because a household member hated snakes. Dumb teacher changed his name, fed him LIVE, he got bit and she didn't get it treated so he passed away.
Tbh would recommend those for people who like snakes but are afraid of being bit. Those guys are calm even in the wild.
Why does it make sense the boa constrictor is cuddly?
Reasons to get a snake
1) Any animal is an animal that needs love
2)My anxiety makes having any other animal hard and my snake is the only pet I've EVER had that actually helps
3) Snakes are very easy beginner pets, especially Ball Pythons
4)Snake Breeders and Dog Breeders are SO DIFFERENT.
A) Proper snake breeders are so loving of animals. They answer ANY and ALL questions... and will help you with more information after.
Another good starter is a corn snake
I don’t think snake and dog breeders are all that different. Both kinds of breeders have people who are solely in it for the money and will treat their animals like crap and don’t care about the health of the offspring. But both have breeders who actively care about the welfare for the breed/species and will do their best to ensure that the best animals are bred and the offspring are both healthy and given to loving homes.
1) Not really... each animal has it's own needs, not every animal needs the love a dog needs for example, and each individual animal has some specific needs as well. I get the point but it's tecnically not true that all animals enjoy human love the same
2) that's true, they're actually calm and simple and easy to handle and be around with when you learn the way
3) yea
4) Yes.
Pluto the Forgotten one There are people trying to breed pugs into their original form (selecting the pugs with the longest nose) and they are called "Retro Pugs". They are adorable and healthy. Unfortunately few people breed them responsibly.

@Nadz lmao seek counceling if thia isnt a joke heheh
I have autism, and my dog helps me when I'm stressed
Same here ADHD as well I have
It's not the job of any animal to better any humans' condition.
Even snakes can help
It's very very natural, id never stop my animals from getting what they need.
jennifer rose some vegans want to make carnivore to herbivores and it would be cool but thatll just make them sick
They're against keeping cats and dogs as well. Total nutters.

PAY THE COURT A FINE OR SERVE YOUR SENTENCE
It's been a while since I've seen a good brawl
Misty Dawn Sorry to hear your story. Snakes are so misunderstood, it makes me sad. I'm glad yours made you happy.
It's unfortunate when we lose pets to human error. I've lost two that way and it still hurts. Sorry for your loss.
I lost my dear betta the same way, because I forgot to turn on his heater and the AC killed him
Misty Dawn That sounds like a really sweet snake. I'm sorry about him. People don't realise snakes can have feelings for their humans same as a dog or cat if you spend time with it. They think snakes have no emotions and only want to eat/kill.
Misty Dawn
Sympathetic. A guy up here in Alaska had a giant snake that ran away outside just before winter, and he kept looking Day and night around his property for weeks until the frost over period, at which point he sadly had to give up.

Wow! Thank you so much for over 5,000 subscribers!!! I'll try and figure out something special for a video soon :)
Also, I want to reiterate that I have no problem with PETA giving their opinion on a hobby, as negative as it may be. My issue is they give people false information to promote their opinion which is simply unfair. It forces people to form a negative mindset on a whole hobby without even fully understanding it, along with turning people away from the amazing community of responsible reptile keepers who genuinely care about their animals.

TeenReviews u forgot they don't smell bad
Golden1_1Dragon thats one
Most are pretty tame so they are good therapy pets
only down side or challene to owning snakes is that u need to figure them out in terms of feeding them
a Reason I like about having a snake: Snakes, at least to me, help as a stress reliever and personal company. Holding a snake is oddly soothing to me. Could be the way snakes move through your fingers and hands that makes them calming to hold and relaxing to watch. Plus I find them rather relatable; eat, sleep/hide all day, stay up all night.
Oof, more like "Peta's hatred towards everyone who even comes in contact with an animal if it isn't a vegan"
@Rambonus Ravager Well that's another way to say it *claps*
I came to the conclusion that PETA is a cult.
1-Praising something (Animals).
2-Sacrifices (Their kill rates) to the love of animals.
3-Spreading the word about them (Their bullshit propaganda), using fake facts to manipulate people.
4-Torturing people who don't agree with them (non-vegans, responsible breeders, etc.) by showing what happens when you don't support them (Animal abuse videos)
5- A leader (Ingrid Newkirk)
6-Using nudity to bring "studs" (I'm sorry) into their cult
And many other stuff...
@@motherofdogs7980 Hol up, what was 6, please explain?

Uh, snakes have killed plenty of kids.
No kidding on how much he loves his snakes. He is awesome. So are his snakes.
I've even met the guy in person (when he gave me my snake). He's very knowledgeable, too!
If captivity is so bad for snakes then explain why their lifespan is so much longer in captivity. They already said that stress can makes snakes ill so that must mean that the snakes aren’t stress if cared for correctly, since they don’t get ill as much.
Demon Cat I had a teacher who had a snake of which its lifespan is 20 years. The snake lived past that, and if she's still alive, she'd be 26
They make it seem like all animals are happier and healthier in the wild when that is not necessarily true. In the wild they are constantly trying to find food while avoiding being eaten themselves...sounds incredibly stressful to me.
Snakes honestly have a cute face. They have that (:3) Look when you look close enough

"This one does not make very sense" 10/10 - IGN
Awesome video, you really did your research! I have a few reason to keep snakes and reptiles in general:
1) they teach responsibility
2) they give people, kids especially something to love, then promote conservation and fight for it
3) they can be ambassadors to "creepy crawlers" and help people get over there phobias, which could potentially save thousands of reptile lives (maybe idk)
4) they are just awesome
5) help people understand the world around them better
6) captive reptiles can be "insurance colonies" for species on the edge of extinction
7) they don't smell, take up a lot of space (usually) don't eat a lot, and generally easier to care for than most mammals and birds
8) they go well with living vivariums and help keep the tank healthier overall, like a mini enclosed Eco system
9) they very interesting to study, and we can learn lots from them, such as a possible cure to I think it was diabetes in Gila Monster venom (not entirely sure) but captive milking is more efficient, less dangerous, and less stressful for the animals
10) I already said it, but they are just awesome

You shall make a video on Hawaii. Hawaii bans snakes because they say they are "too dangerous to the environment". Dogs are an environmental hazard too, yet the state allows them.
CHAMELEON_ BREEZE Hawaii is an oppressive and horrible place that should be given back to their royal family and forgotten about.
CHAMELEON_ BREEZE
All pets are possible environmental hazards if not trained correctly.
(Sorry I got all _science_ but this was about Hawaii and like
That's my hometoWN-)
CHAMELEON_ BREEZE Yes. Hawaii needs snakes!
PETA: This snake wants to RUN!
Snake: I want to go back under my damn log!!!
Literally the funniest thing I saw on PETA’s website was how they criticize pet owners and stores for putting snakes in small enclosures. Like that’s literally what they enjoy! They want something to feel secure in, not be in the open plains where they will get eaten.

funny.. thoes reason why snakes are not a great pet goes same to any other pets. we hear dogs got loose and killing people, we hear about dog breeder who are only after money, other pets from other country also suffer if they are in differnt climate (like husky living in deasert climate..) and any other pets have their own specialized need as well (ex, some cats hate being touch. it is hard to notice when cats are sick cuz they do not usually show it.). and little did they know... cats and dogs eat MEAT as well.
PETA is racist to reptiles XD
1. You can boop their snoots
2. You can make peta angry
3. They're THICC
4. They are the sweetest things ever
5. Just get snakes they're being mistreated by these breeding facilities and you can save them along with providing them a good home with lots of love and boops!

1: they are badass.
2: Most of them (If well cared for) are very nice.
3: Not all sneks are danger noodles, PETA!
There would be a lot more mice in houses if it weren't for snakes.
I'm no snake hater but there wouldn't be a lot of mice in the house either if it weren't for cats
AntiStealthBoy
Or chickens, interestingly speaking.
-they can be loved just as much as dogs or cats
-theyre very interesting animals!
-cute (at least in my opinion)
-like you said, snakes can be very docile and tolerant of humans
-they can be very well taken care of by those who care
those are just some, but i most definitely love my corn snake so much
"all the sensory pleasure"
Yeah like having parasites and dying from disease or a predator.
Snakes are perfectly happy to skip that shit I promise you PETA.
one plus, they're generally hypoallergenic
I'm hopefully a future snake keeper, and that article is absolute bs. Reptiles are beautiful animals, and they are incredible pets
I just got a baby corn snake for my birthday. My parents "hate" snakes so I was surprised to see an extra tank in my room with a corn snake in it! :o
Dear god i hope he didn't come from pet Co or petsmart
yo i just got a cornsnake to...ive wanted a corn snake for years...i now realize that i am very afraid of snakes
PETA is a cruel joke, they could care less about animal welfare.
I loved this video, you have yourself a new subscriber.
Snakes are the only Hogwarts house mascot you can easily own as a pet 💚🐍
I saw someone who had a pet badger.
I know I am really late but I saw that article awhile back ago and started screaming at my mom about it.
its like at one school some man came to talk how badly ALL cows are treated and stand always in their own shit. The students asked, have you ever been in dairy farm? The man said, no. The students asked, do you wanna see how our cows are kept? again, no. wtf you are talking how ppl treat cows when you havent in been in a dairy farm.
Mitch Kohler This is not true...stop getting all your information from propaganda films.
Mitch Kohler You're just another idiot from PETA. PETA. is going to learn a VERY HARD LESSON when they steal another family's pet.

Snakes share a great bond with people and they're fairly easy to take care of. Most people hate snakes due to the fact they eat mice and rats etc, it's not their fault they eat mice. Although it is our fault that we kill snakes for our personal enjoyment.
Liv Vancura
They also forget where that chicken kibble came from
Liv Vancura Which is irritating because rats and mice are hated too. So why do they care if one animal they hate eats another animal they hate... Is it because of the fur? I love all 3 so I don't understand what all the hate is about. I've seen plenty of TH-cam commenters talking about how they like to kill rodents (as if it turns them on or something)...
Yes Hello I Am Snek
Contrary. I like to kill rodents because if they get into our Cache they will spoil and disease our entire food supply for the winter and we will starve.
Explanation. Subsistence Homesteading in Alaska.
Starcloak Starside So then why don't they want a snake to do the job?
Yes Hello I Am Snek
Agreed.
By the way, Fantastic channel Mr.Alex. You are very well educated :)
twentyoneaverys you're so lucky you have a herpetology class at your school!
Maybe somebody should go to their offices in the U.S. and say you are dead right im handing over my pet snakes to you, then tip a box of rattlesnakes onto the floor and walk out.
better yet, go Florida man and toss a pissed gator through the window, or several.
The TH-cam Phantom Official I like how the term “Florida man” has become synonymous with “go all out.”
Lol just take a damned clutch of rattlers and fuckin dump em and leave
What inspires me most about reptiles is having my own personal zoo without much effort. Since childhood I was very interested in animals, but my parents agreed to get me only budgies and cat (and between those and the other there was a time when we lived without pets). I suffered greatly without contact with different animals, dreaming that when I grew up, I would have many mammals, birds and fish. Of reptiles I was only interested in turtles. But dreams
were shattered into reality, where animals poop, and they had to be cleaned up, or they needed a lot of equipment.
Why snakes are good pets:
1) They are great beginner pets
2) They are hella cute
3) They don't have to be walked every day
4) They teach responsibility
5) You don't have to feed it every day
6) It doesn't need as much attention as a dog, but it still needs attention
irk your the best!
He's a good boi and a great pet for someone like me who can't own a dog or cat where they live.
oh no peta hates me what will i ever do
i own 3 crested geckos and a veiled chameleon
Grab yer gun get ready
chameleons are pretty cool lizards
I bought from a responsible breeder and I plan on becoming a rough collie breeder (currently studying the Rough Collie and breeding)

Thank you! Great reasons too :D
I'm just now sorting through these comments for the video so sorry for the late response lol.
GoHerping It's cool man! I can't blame ya for the late response. 5,000 subs can be more than a handful I'd bet!
I don't understand why PETA hates herpers or any animal keepers... watching videos like yours helped me understand lots more about each and every animal presented.
Screw peta I'm keeping my pet ball python named Mr cuddles and you can't take him from me he's a sweet heart (found Mr cuddles in a recycal bin as a baby)
many snakes are endangered so buying some and breeding can make there population go up even by one egg hatching
Rhinotamus Yeah. The ball python is not an easy feed. Sometimes they just won't eat. How are they gonna survive if they won't eat???
I love my pet snake because she enjoys the warmth of the body, and like to snuggle into my skin.
I like having her because shes a pet I can keep on me, for several hours, without worrying about getting pooped on. (She is not full size yet).
This is also a plus because she will hold onto me, so I don't really have to worry about her falling.
I like having a pet snake because they only eat about once a week so maintenance is super low.
I like my snake because she responds to my voice and likes the vibrations of being talked to.
