OMG!!! So glad someone has mentioned her nails!!! I don't know how many screenshots I've gotten of her videos on my phone JUST so I can show her nails to my nail tech to pick colors! I love Donna for so many reasons!!! 💖💖💖
Edit to add that I am finally getting my king size quilt back from my LAQ this weekend. I based it on her Hip to be Square free pattern and added several borders to it. Not to mention a bargello table runner, and those will not be the last! I'm thinking this Drunkard's Path might be perfect for a layer cake I'm waiting on the perfect pattern for! Yipee!!!
I also made TONS of the Christmas Tree Napkins this past Christmas and my in laws even asked me to make more so that THEY could give them as gifts!

Hi Donna, I was looking for a way to put a circle in the middle of a quilt. I thought about the drunkard path and checked out lots of tutorials on TH-cam, but they all seemed to want to use pins. It looked really difficult. I watched so many videos but was uninspired until I saw yours. I was able to make my own template and included the notches. By following your instructions I matched up the notches as I sewed along. Just magical and I achieved the result I wanted.
Thank you for the very clear and simple instructions you give. I have learnt a lot from you.

I cannot believe the give away quilt today is the one I have wanted to make for my granddaughter! She loved the greens and purples and I can't wait to enter the drawing. I've read & have the full set of Anne of Green Gables & loved the books. I've visited the area in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island & also have gone to the home of the author's (Lucy Maud Montgomery) aunt & uncle where she lived at one time. The lake of shining waters was outside her bedroom window. I've visited her gravesite in Cavendish, where every summer, it is totally covered with beautiful flowers. Amazing area to visit if given the chance.

I love your channel! The way you explain things makes them seem so much easier than I have tried to mske them! I also enjoy knowing you are from GP. We lived down there (Rogue Valley)for almost 8 years. (Medford. Phoenix, Medford, Talent) before moving up here (NW of Salem)My niece actually just moved from GP to Tx and one of my daughters lives in Winston)
I am completely self taught. I started with pillow cases then curtains. A couple Christmases ago I made everyone in my family their own quilt. The starting plan was for each person to have a personalized one. But, sadly that's not how things worked out. I was sewing at my kitchen table right after returning from buying a TON of fabric. I was SO EXCITED! I had just found almost everything I needed to make the 9 quilts needed for my husband, son, 4 daughters, their 2 boyfriends. and my grandson. I had the cord to the machine stretched between the kitchen counter and the table when someone let my dogs in. Luna is 1/2 German Shepherd and a big sweet girl. As she came running in she ran under the cord for my sewing machine and pulled it off the table! I did one of those loud high pitched gasps and she stopped in he tracks. We both stood there staring at my sewing machine as it lay on the kitchen floor in a bunch of pieces. Me with my hand over my mouth and tears streaming down my face. Luna with her normally tall and proud ears laying back on her head and her tail tucked between her legs. I couldn't be mad at her when she looked up at me with those big brown heartbreakingly sad eyes. It was my fault after all. I just didn't know how I was going to sew all those quilts without my sewing machine! That April afternoon started my "quilt quest of 2020" Besides 2020 being the year of Covid it also marked many other things for our family. Our 4th (of 5 kids) graduated from college but because of Covid nobody saw her walk across the stage with all her cords etc and accept her diploma and congratulations for all her accomplishments. We lost many dear friends and family (none to covid) But, as a country we were all told to stay home. and if we had to go out wear masks and stay 6ft away from eachother. I have always loved blankets and big sweaters. I've told my kids that I feel like they are like wrapping myself up in a hug and if they are from a person even better. So the quilts for Christmas were going to be my way of hugging my family from a distance. I began the search for a machine It ended up with me buying 4 used, borrowing 1, before buying one that finally arrived in December! I then OVERCOMPLICATED the ones I made for my oldest daughter, and grandson ( I decided that the one I made for her could be the "family one"), They got thrirs the week after Christmas but it meant I spent a lot if sleepless nights and did a lot of hand quilting, I then did the ones for the other 4 kids ( all adults) and decided that the boyfriend wasn't getting one. My poor husband STILL hasn't gotten his! I have had 18 months of major health crisis and even though I watch quilting videos every day I sadly haven't been able to sit down at my machine ( I even have a sewing room now) to work on it. My plan is to start working a little every day to make my sewing room more accessable for me and get it done. Sorry for such a long post but I think ANNE would approve 😉I just wanted you ro know I appreciate you and to tell others that it diesnt HAVE to be complicated to be beautiful. Take a step back, look at it and see if maybe just maybe you can take what looks like you are tying yourself in knots to do, break it down and male it simple. 🤯😏😃🙌🪡🧵✂️📐📏💟🔲🔳 Blessings!

Drunkard’s Path was the first quilt I pieced...I had it hand quilted by a group of ladies that I had known most of my life. One of the ladies had been my Sunday school teacher for years. Sadly, my quilt was the last she quilted with the group as she passed the day after my quilt was finished. I asked the ladies to sign their name and I’ve embroidered their name on the quilt. Love the Drunkard’s Path pattern, but it can be a booger to piece, but Donna’s instructions make it so much easier.

Wow! Another magnificent video! I have a small quilt made by my late Mom hanging in my bedroom. It has similar curves and was a scrap quilt. It's beautiful. I remember when she was making it her mentioning how fun the blocks were to make. They're perfect, so I'm sure she must have used a similar ruler template.
Thank you Donna and Jordan family for all your work on behalf of us quilters. I just started quilting this year on Mom's 40 and 50 year young machines. I have used the sandpaper dots for years - I find that putting two or three in strategic places keeps the template from sliding and the rotating mat for cutting circle quilts works great!

This is the second pattern you've done that takes all the intimidation and stress out of trying to sew (mentally) difficult patterns. Your instructions are very clear and stress free! Thank you!

Beautiful, surprisingly this is the first quilt I chose to do and hand stitched, more than 43 years ago. Mistakes there were many, but I’m sitting here snuggled up under that very quilt. My 4” templates were made out of cardboard, the pattern was the centre circle and branched out from there. My colour choices were solid brown, peach and beige, nothing that I would ever go for now. Thanks for sharing your version love your fabrics 👍❤️😊

Thank you so much Donna for another wonderful tutorial. I ordered my templates today from Jordan Fabrics and I am ready to tackle the Drunkards Path. Loved the reference to the Cordial and the Currant Wine. lol. One of my favorite parts of the book and old (80's) movies Anne of Green Gables. It's nice to see where you get your inspirations for quilts and projects. Also I love when we go shopping at Jordan Fabrics via video and you show different fabrics and how they look as a background or boarders. I also love how sometimes you pick different colors or textures for the background fabric instead of just white. It helps get my wheels turning and ideas forming. Thanks for being so generous with your knowledge, patterns and time. Many blessings to you, your family and all the whole Jordan Fabric crew.

What a beautiful quilt! Thanks for showing those drunkard’s path templates with the slits - I think they may be the secret to incent me to try curved piecing after all. You make it look doable, Donna. Gorgeous fabric choice too - that cordial scene is the most memorable Anne of Green Gables excerpt for me too!! 🥰

first quilt I ever made was a drunkards path quilt for my oldest child when he graduated high school two years ago. I did get an acrylic template set from another company. I can see how the notches in this larger set help make things easier for those scared of the process. I didn't know to be scared I guess you could say. I just did it. Being my first quilt make, I wasn't worried about perfect. And it came out great. Two years later, I can't tell you were any problems were. I've forgotten. I think I only had two, maybe three of the 4.5 inch blocks that had micro pleats in them I didn't find and fix before the 'duck it all' phase hit. My kiddo loves it. I now plan on quilts with patterns that let me sew then cut shapes to make "magic". Those I find easiest. But starting with a smaller drunkards path made me fearless in trying to find the reasons for so many quilt patterns. 😀
