- Welcome back to a new video! In this video I bring you along on a big videographer job of mine, in Longyearbyen on Svalbard. I'm filming a bunch of musical segments for our towns 17th of May celebration (Norway's constitution day) and bring you along behind the scenes. Now that I am done with this job I will go back to posting here on youtube twice a week again! SO stay tuned for lots of fun content coming up :)

About Cecilia:
Cecilia Blomdahl is originally from Sweden and moved to Svalbard 5.5 years ago. She works as a photographer and videographer in Longyearbyen, and also with her social media channels, check her out on tiktok and instagram. Here on youtube she posts videos about her daily life in her cabin with her boyfriend and her dog Grim, living just outside of Longyearbyen. They are currently building a cabin extension, which is set to be finished in May. I never in a million years would think I could be attracted to life in such a harsh environment....but dang, you make it look like a wonderful life!
The silhouette of the acrobats against the maintains and the sky was so beautiful it brought me to tears.

Aerial tissue is beautiful enough in itself, set to the piano and against that background it was really beautiful.
As someone who lives in US in a hot southern state, the Nordic countries all seem like heaven to me. It’s only through TH-camrs like you that I will ever get to see these beautiful foreign lands.
The silhouette of the ribbon acrobat against the beautiful colours of the buildings and landscape was stunning.

Luckily I tweaked my back, which forced me to slow down, and found this channel to happily spend my downtime binge watching. The cinematography is amazing and Cecilia has such a lovely spirit that brings such fun to her videos. Absolutely beautiful captures of such a quaint village. I can only imagine the plethora of people who are now intrigued and want to visit. I also enjoy the history, of Svalbard / Longyearbyen, she offers in some of the videos. Strong work, Cecilia! Such a pleasant escape for me whilst allowing my back to heal. Makes sitting still enjoyable and educational.

@@lev2727 No, of course not, anyone can point a camera and press the record button. I mean who would celebrate filmography or editing, how silly, imagine if they had awards for such things? What next giving awards to photographers or directors? Imagine if people thought good photography was a talent and people could do it as a job? Madness!

What kind of strange person are you to assume that you can't achieve great things in life without talent?
When you tell her "You are so talented with filming", you're basically saying that all her skills are just the result of talent.
Guess what? People who worked really hard to reach that level, will consider your comment an insult. Google it, there are countless articles about this, a lot of people think exactly the same way like I do.
Seriously, if you think that you can't achieve her level when you were actually interested in film making, and would be willing to invest a lot of time into it, then you're seriously suffering from an inferiority complex.
Is everyone who knows how to draw, talented?
Is everyone who knows how to fly a plane, talented?
Is everyone who knows how to sing, talented?
Is everyone who knows how to play a piano, talented?
Seriously.... ~sigh~
I taught school for 27 years. We used to refer to an American ten cent coin (dime) as a teacher screw driver. It always worked on media equipment.

You live in such a beautiful place, you must look outside every day in awe. So cool when you film in silhouette. Grimm is adorable with the ice. The costumes are beautiful.

A request: Light pollution here is horrible, could you perhaps do a time-lapse of your night sky with the stars, when that becomes possible? Much thanks, and keep up the excellent content!

You're so incredibly talented and I was really excited for you. I particularly enjoyed the beginning and ending scenes. Three years ago I was in Oslo for the May 17th celebration and it was such a joy watching everyone walking around in traditional dress. Definitely one of life's highlights.

That enclosed snowmobile trailer (Grim's uber) is really neat. I have never seen anything like that and I am in central Wisconsin. We used to snowmobile but it is always hit or miss weather wise, unless we trailer the sleds a couple hundred miles north to upper peninsula of Michigan.
We have just fallen in love with your work and you and Christopher together.

I have to say the girls doing aerial acrobatics using sheer fabric were simply amazing. They were as good as any Circque du Soleil performance I saw in Las Vegas a few years ago. Cecilia, intertwining video of the surrounding landscape scenes from Longyearbyen with the girls performance was stunning. Nice work. Be assured you will get the job next year. You are too good at what you do.
Today’s entrepreneurs are so high-tech like you, extremely talented! And it is interesting the juxtaposition of the old and the new. So little of the old left but yet it intrigues as a prop and can’t be duplicated, exists only in the past.

Did I see that your old cabin space is open to the new addition now? Loved the glimpses of your filming work. There really is a lot to know to make such effortless looking videos like you do. The drone shot of the governor walking out to give her speech (can I say what an unusual but perfect location that was?!?) was sooo stunning!! I tend to forget that film ever existed, but I thought of it at the beginning of this video when you said you checked your memory cards, not thinking of how many rolls of film to take out of the fridge and pack for the shoot. :D Digital rocks! And what an exquisite and unique contribution you captured for this year's celebrations. Loved Grim's icey dog treats, and the woman in traditional dress trudging along in the Arctic expanse at the end.

My first videography gig was last year so I am pretty new to this still!! 😍
In the US I just use a nickel or quarter coin for the “tool” to tighten/loosen the tripod base. :)
We don't really use any cash up here anymore so finding a coin would take me a minute 😂

I can see why you got the job, some brilliant filming and editing there. Great to see more of the island and its old industrial architecture as well. I felt sorry for the acrobats getting cold but Grim was in his element eating icicles!
