I lost my baby to a foreign war She was cut down in the gunfire of the western world She was livin' in sin, I was livin' in a lie She was caught up in the glimmer of a rich mans eye I couldn't see her from the other side They said son "there is no glory in your pride." I will wait at the Brandenburg Gate At the Brandenburg Gate I'll wait I will wait at the Brandenburg Gate At the Brandenburg Gate I'll wait, I'll wait Well, I lost my baby to a foreign war She was cut down in the gunfire of the western world She was searching for salvation in the things you buy I was finding all the reason to give up on life If you love something and give it away It can't come back unless you're free. I will wait at the Brandenburg Gate At the Brandenburg Gate I'll wait I will wait at the Brandenburg Gate At the Brandenburg Gate I'll wait, I'll wait, I'll wait, I'll wait. Somewhere in the in between Where the east and the west meet In the 30 year war where I came clean That's where you will find me. So I'll wait, I'll wait. I will wait at the Brandenburg Gate At the Brandenburg Gate I'll wait I will wait at the Brandenburg Gate At the Brandenburg Gate I'll wait, (So I'll wait) I will wait at the Brandenburg Gate At the Brandenburg Gate I'll wait (So I'll wait) I will wait at the Brandenburg Gate At the Brandenburg Gate I'll wait, So I'll wait, I'll wait, I'll wait. I lost my baby to a foreign war.
Why do people always say bands like Anti-Flag have "Sold Out" (Definition of sell out: a betrayal of one's principles for reasons of expedience)? Seems to me that Anti-Flag is still fighting the same fight it has always been. And this song is obviously heavily influenced by The Clash which is a band Anti-Flag has always praised since Anti-Flag formed.
It's because people are idiots. Anti-Flag has changed it's sound to get to a broader audience.. meaning their message gets to be heard by more than just a small percentage of the population. Punks only care about their own, it seems.
"the fake/dum punks", i don´t know how to say it on English sorry, are the ones who would say that, please don´t say "punks only care about their own" because that is bullshit. otherwise i agree with you on the part you said anti-flag has changed his sound to be heard by more people, but i have to say i liked more and miss the old sound of anti-flag. G.N.W.P
Mr.Nugget Depends on the punks, I should've specified. The crustier they are, the more they tend to care about their own. The punk crowd outside of the street punks is rather quite loving and caring towards most people
N0rthT really? Who were you? I only know like 5 kids that came out in it haha. I had a blast. It was a once in a lifetime experience for me I don't do things like that I'm not an actor at all.
Fredy Texis I do a lot of videos. I guess I'm pretty good at it. I don't think I am, but people tell me how good I am all the time so I guess I am. I mean, I don't like to make a big deal out of it.
This is just perfect. And for all of those that think that this is not "Punk" anymore or whatever, just know that Punk is about doing whatever you feel like doing and not giving a fuck about the "hate" you get. By far one of the best music videos I've ever seen.
People who think this is not punk clearly haven't listened to The Clash, and if you wonder who they are, they are one if not the BIGGEST PUNK BAND of all time
+Ahmad Haddad clash are wayy over the ramones, might not in popularity but in its strong political lyrics and themes . ramones is more of a happy party rock band compared to the clash.
+Ahmad Haddad not hating on the ramones dont get me wrong ,one of my favs but when people usually talk to me about punk the first thing that comes to my head is the clash ,the addicts or the exploited ( dead K , misfits etc etc.)
***** Uhm, no. It's all but no punk ^^ Just listen to all the albums before (except "The General Strike" and "The People or the Gun" for the most part) and you know what punk is. THIS IS NOT!
Jutschl well its a combo of punk en alt rock but that doesn't matter its about the meaning of the song. it's a punk message no Mather what people think and say be yourself.
Jutschl lol, The General Strike and The People or the Gun are far less "poppy" than For Blood and Empire and especially less than Bright Lights of America. That's besides the fact that Punk was strongly defined by bands like the Ramones, the Clash and the Sex Pistols; Punk IS poppy. That's part of what makes it PUNK. That's what makes it stripped down, raw.
So if I say I loved Anti-Flag while they had their original sound, and not with this pop-punk attempts, I am small minded? I listen to punk for 30 years, love new and old stuff, but punk you don't find on YT recommendations, rather in the basements. Cheers from Berlin.
Just want to clear it up, here's why people say that this is the album where Anti-Flag "sold out" (even though I personally don't think they did), 1. They used an abundance of cleaner production on this album, at least by punk standards, guitars with a lack of distortion, drums pushed pretty far back in the mixing, and not as much emphasis on the bass as usual, are pretty obvious examples of such a drastic turn in the way they wrote songs for the album. 2. This may be subjective, but Chris #2's vocals on the album are pretty consistently rough and he always sounds like he had 20 takes before the final version. I mean harsh vocals on a punk album, they should go hand in hand, but not only do they sound more rough and off key then usual, but it completely clashes with the cleaner production they're going for on this release. 3. The most glaring problem in my opinion, there isn't as much of a passion behind this album like past ones. The lyrics are pretty vague on the most part, not entirely, like with songs about drone attacks in the Middle East, that's pretty specific. But this album also came out during the Obama administration. Compared to the hells-cape that the Bush and Clinton years brought for inspiration for their last albums, making an album in this era of politics just seems really unfit for a band like Ant-Flag, and their pretty clear politics and ideals, to take on. All of these details combined together culminated to an album that, while has some pretty killer instrumentation and energy behind it, seems really unfit. I personally like this album, I like a lot of Anti-Flag albums, they're a pretty consistent band and they know what they're good at. Hell, I have this album specifically on special edition white vinyl, I I LIKE THIS ALBUM. This is just some of the arguments I've seen sprouting up as a result.
Saw these guys last night and it was fucking amazing. This was the second-to-last song of their encore, and the entire club rocked out. They broke down the drum set, moved it into the crowd and reassembled it, and then shot confetti everywhere. El Corazon, Seattle, 1/24/18.

Punk can not be simply classified as a "sound". Punk is a way of life. It's almost a religion. To say a song is not punk because it's "poppy" is bullshit.
So glad I got to hear this song live in Brighton this year before the breakup. The energy was real. I'll continue to party instead of supporting those fucking wars.
I never thought about it for the first few times through this video, but I now can't help but wonder if the churchgoer who is prominently shown in shots starting around 1:40 is intended to so closely resemble Beelzebub's pet tortoise Mitch?
He also likes toothpaste, bowling, honey, money, cartwheels, hamsters, pliers, facepaint, and fire Also, hi. Bet you didn't expect a reply to a comment from five years ago
I mean, fuck religion and anything used as an excuse to hate. Now id you'll excuse me, I am contractually obligated to say this; I'm here, I'm queer, now somebody get me a fucking beer.
I saw these guys way back during Die for your Government. That was some raw punk rock and they looked like the rest of the street punks. Now they look like Marianna's Trench and sound like Dropkick Murphys. This bums me out.
Este nuevo vídeo de Anti-Flag es tan antisemita y liberal que es el vídeo mas punk que he visto en años. Y eso que tiene toques muy pop, la canción muy ramonera y la letras genial, como siempre ¡ya regresen a México locos!
I just visited the Brandenburg Gate, and there wasn't a single member of Anti-Flag there. They must have gotten tired of waiting.
The ending was so cute! :D
As the band gets older obviously tastes and the music changes, I love that they have such a diverse range of music 😀

They can't defeat love!! Don't be afraid of expressing this feeling!

Yes we are, until you fuck with someone we care about
I'm so stoked to have been a part of this video. It was so much fun. Fucking sick!
***** yeah it was sooo sick! I hope I did I just had tons of fun doing it and met some awesome people it was truly amazing :D
Fredy Texis I was in it too. It was whatever. I guess it was pretty cool.
N0rthT really? Who were you? I only know like 5 kids that came out in it haha. I had a blast. It was a once in a lifetime experience for me I don't do things like that I'm not an actor at all.

N0rthT hahahha. Way to ruin someone's day
There sound has changed, but you can still tell it's the same vocals drums guitar and it's the same message every fucking album. Thanks Anti-Flag
This song live is just amazing!!
This is just perfect. And for all of those that think that this is not "Punk" anymore or whatever, just know that Punk is about doing whatever you feel like doing and not giving a fuck about the "hate" you get. By far one of the best music videos I've ever seen.
This reminds me of Death or Glory by the Clash, for some reason. I fucking love it!
Hi Brandon Sutter! Let's go Pens. Ps - you are on the trade block.
I love how you knew who my picture was haha, I know. I'm kinda sad lol, I think he is underrated, better 3rd liner than Staal imo.
yes!
+Crlongboarder I shamefully admit I though it *had* to be a Clash cover.
anything with Tim Armstrong makes it a great song.
The truth.
That is true🙂🙂
It was great without him but even better with him
What does he do in this song? The main riff kinda sounds like his style I guess.
Truth
One of the best bands to see live.
Anti Flag never disappoints. Getting better with each album!
Honestly, love this bloody song.
People who think this is not punk clearly haven't listened to The Clash, and if you wonder who they are, they are one if not the BIGGEST PUNK BAND of all time
I'd have to give that to the Ramones or the Sex Pistols tbh
+Ahmad Haddad clash are wayy over the ramones, might not in popularity but in its strong political lyrics and themes . ramones is more of a happy party rock band compared to the clash.
Acdeportivo2 yeah this is true but The Ramones were the original punk rock band as well
+Ahmad Haddad not hating on the ramones dont get me wrong ,one of my favs but when people usually talk to me about punk the first thing that comes to my head is the clash ,the addicts or the exploited ( dead K , misfits etc etc.)
+Acdeportivo2 yeah I understand that man, I'm actually a punk myself so I love all punk rock bands I don't hate on any tbh
Great song and great video, having Tim Armstrong was a nice touch. Love anti flag
This song is awesome. It doesn`t always have to be so punk or hardcore to be good.
Love the Goldman quote at the beginning
The Joy Of Punk is Not giving a shit if someone says you're not punk..
Great band, Great tune and Great to see Tim Armstrong in there to!!!
If this is poppy then i like pop. And I wish pop sounded like that.
***** Uhm, no. It's all but no punk ^^

mackbeth182 This is pop punk to be exact.
love reading what people have to say about anti-flag !!!!!! just show's how small minded some people are..
That's very accurate
So if I say I loved Anti-Flag while they had their original sound, and not with this pop-punk attempts, I am small minded? I listen to punk for 30 years, love new and old stuff, but punk you don't find on YT recommendations, rather in the basements. Cheers from Berlin.
When someone don't share your point of view you call him "small minded". Are you a nazi?
this is pure punk rock
Good message they sent in that video also
This song is an affront to the Brandenburg Gate and everything it stands for. Our ignorance knows no bounds.
Nice job guys! The video is pretty fucking good. Short, simple, good tune, good cinematography.

Brandenburg Gate
I lost my baby to a foreign war
She was cut down in the gunfire of the western world
She was livin' in sin
I was livin' in a lie
She was caught up in the glimmer of a rich mans eye
I couldn't see her from the other side
They said son "there is no glory in your pride."
I will wait at the Brandenburg Gate
At the Brandenburg Gate I'll wait
Well, I lost my baby to a foreign war
She was cut down in the gunfire of the western world
She was searching for salvation in the things you buy
I was finding all the reason to give up on life
If you love something and give it away
It can't come back unless you're free.
I will wait at the Brandenburg Gate
At the Brandenburg Gate I'll wait
I wait.
Somewhere in the in between
Where the east and the west meet
In the 30 year war where I came clean
That's where you will find me.
So I wait.
I wait.
I will wait at the Brandenburg gate
At the Brandenburg gate I'll wait

Punk can not be simply classified as a "sound". Punk is a way of life. It's almost a religion. To say a song is not punk because it's "poppy" is bullshit.

This band crushes it live.
They closed with this last night ❤✊
Saw them two days ago, they rocked the fuck out at bayfest in Italy. Fucking amazing band.
This actually has a touch of Bruce Springsteen in it. That it is what it sounds to me anyway.
That's it, New Jersey sound! This reminds me more of Gaslight Anthem than The Clash, Anti-Flag or Rancid.
This is still relevant today
Love It!
This is perfect.
People just can't enjoy music like they used to. Keep fighting the fight Anti-flag.

This is fucking awesome..american spring
I saw these guys way back during Die for your Government. That was some raw punk rock and they looked like the rest of the street punks. Now they look like Marianna's Trench and sound like Dropkick Murphys. This bums me out.
If this is pop then I fucking love pop.
Love it. (Kinda different from Dave Brubeck’s Brandenburg Gate 😂 🤣 )
Emma Goldman... A true anarchist hero.
Este nuevo vídeo de Anti-Flag es tan antisemita y liberal que es el vídeo mas punk que he visto en años. Y eso que tiene toques muy pop, la canción muy ramonera y la letras genial, como siempre ¡ya regresen a México locos!
