Anime is "In Another World with my Smartphone" (sometimes referred to as "Smartphone Isekai" or something similar), and no, maybe 10% of this parody, at the most, is accurate to what happens in the anime. They completely flipped it on its head, from the plot to the characters' personalities, and it's friggin great.
the main difference is DBZA follows the story, they may add some things in for comitic affect but 98% of it still sticks to the main story, where smartphone abridge just throws the story to the wind and only about 50% of it somewhat follows the story.
Same as Kyle and Kirby, loved the episode, bummed there is no more but understandable. Something Witty is still taking time to make SAO and its taking such a while on that alone, so 5 years of madness seems about as much as they can spend on Smartphone.
"What in the world is that?" during the VPN ad read, that was the classic CG show "Reboot", about programs living in your computer living a virtual life and having to defend themselves against evil viruses and fight in arena death matches against "the Users" when they play games. It aired on Toonami around the same time that DBZ was first being released in the US back in the late 90's/early 00's and was a fantastic series even if visually it hasn't aged well at all.
It’s amazing how they kinda follow the story. Literally starts with god having accidentally killed this dude, although dude is nice in the anime and only asks for a smartphone so god makes him good at everything since he feels bad. He does get the many gold coins by selling his clothes, and he gains ALL the magic by that one small crystal.
I wish that thing about the VPN wanting everyone's baby was brought to us by THE KIRITO IS ALWAYS RIGHT FOUNDATION. That probably would have made it even funnier.

He can use every spell he learns
It's even funnier if you know "In Another World With My Smartphone" and how preposterous the story is and how the MC becomes The God of not one but two worlds before his 18th birthday.
The 2:44 is a old show called "reboot" they recently did a reboot of it on netflix. Most the other clips where from ghost busters 2 and i think one was from Labyrinth.

SWE did awesome on this😂 but my favorite version of smart phone abridged is done by yusho productions and it is hilarious as well especially with the rhymes he says when he casts his null magic spells and they do have episode two but thats it unfortunately

Based on the ending, they would have trouble doing more episodes. The real show is a bit different, less blackmail and creepiness. Decent show though, nothing great, but a decent watch.
