Might be symbolism. Killing the crow shows you are a carnivore, embracing it fully and have lack of fear and concern for you and other's safety since sound can attract the monsters. You are more prone to violence instead of finding of finding another way like berries, mushrooms, negotiating etc.
Also im pretty sure I’ve got the games lore tied down Asteroids crash onto earth while a rocket was being launched into space and the asteroid is where the Nocturnals came out of, the military was deployed to clear out towns but ended up getting their owned soldiers killed, by the second day, in the morning, the nocturnals who then were probably millions, began to burn because of sun which meant that the asteroids crashed at night. Nocturnals likely have horrible vision but great hearing, and probably kill for sport and not to eat since we don’t see them devour anything and the way they kill is very aggressive and they just toy with their victims, they are probably bullet resistant like the monsters from the quiet place, which is likely the inspiration for the monsters. Also it’s likely been YEARS since this happened to the ambient, bodies, fact cars have been rusted out, aswell as that Diego & our MC stated that they were raised by teenagers. (ANOTHER EDIT: THERE WASNT A ROCKET MISSION WHILE THE ASTEROID WAS HITTING NEITHER WAS THERE MULTIPLE ASTEROIDS, There was a Rocket deployed to attempt to get the asteroid to explode or rail it off track or it either hit anyways or fragmented and landed anyways) This game is literally Telltales the walking dead with a little bit of the last of us and a lot of quiet place. EDIT: The Nocturnals are smart and very strategic guessing from the school cafeteria scene and their blood is likely acidic

I like how in the credits of the game, the one where it shows your alignment, good endings and bad endings aren't segmented by your incompetence it competence. The Everybody lives ending, the ending where ultimrely everyone lives, you're seen as incompetent, and the scene where quite literally everybody leaves you, you're seen as competent.
Competence also can mean capability, thus meaning his capability throughout the events as well as how well he did at maximizing his chances for survival. Even if he had a warmer heart, there could have been times throughout the story that showed he couldn't do much on his own or make the smarter choice to live, as it is easy to be taken advantage of when your heart is warm, yet naive. For a person with a colder heart, they know that letting people live in these situations where they can kill you is not the right answer, so a lot of it is just expecting the unexpected from everyone. I believe the ones where you end up alone are the more competent ones because they show that you put your survival first over giving sympathy to others in a survival situation. I do agree, however, that the lighthearted endings were way better than the lonely ones.

I see a bit of myself in Ted, ever since I entered my high school I've been acting all myself not thinking a thing kr two about the world, until I met my friend, theough her I discovered that even the slightest decision can have an impact on your reputation, ties with other people, personal life, etcetera, seeing the Crash and Burn ending I see myself in Ted's position, me and my friend had a talk where all my flaws were highlighted and I was hurt to the point where solitude and depression was the thing that got to me, so even though people don't like Diego for specific reasons, he's a great character, I like him.
