Just subbed to your channel , looking forward to hearing more of your tips and advice. I've bought a small house near Veliko Tarnovo, which I hope to relocate too from the UK at some point
My hands are not soft, love my gardening and keeping animals but the ‘handy work’ stuff you’re referring to is a learning curve I’ve yet to master.. I’m not an ace of computers either. Am I stuffed, lol Ps I’m not rich either😂
Wow - I never saw an aga style range in BG before - how did you come by yours - it’s magnificent! I would love to get one in my little BG cottage kitchen!!!😍
The nature out here is next level vouchers wolves bears turtles in my garden tortoise is in my garden owls in the back of the barn scorpions snakes you name it it’s All here. Moved over during The lockdown🎊
What do ( detergent) do you use to wash clothes and plates if using water for grey water please as I’m coming to live in Bulgaria in the summer and want to use grey water zero waste in my garden
Ecover or method is also quite nice but it’s a little bit more expensive. There’s a German brand out here with a frog as their mascot its Called Frosch or maybe if you have the time you’ll be making your own. Heard wonderful things about horse chestnuts blitzed in a food processor then being used as a laundry detergent apparently it’s soaps up quite well like nettles
You could keep a bar of vegetable soap by the sink for washing up dishes and another one for your clothes. I’ve made my own laundry liquid for years from grated soap and soda crystals (not caustic 😂) ,saved a lot of money. Apparently, ivy leaves make a liquid for washing clothes…worth a look into their uses?
Love that stove. Haha @ the natural air conditioned windows. Do you paint the bottom of your trees with the white stuff (I forget the name) to protect from insects? I don't know if it's just for fruit trees or all trees. We can totally understand your feelings about being in Bulgaria full time, we can't wait to be back there full time very soon.
No the white stuff I haven’t quite got my head around it yet I should look into it more apparently it’s not the nicest thing to be mixing up and painting . I think it’s hydrated lime. I lost a hell of a lot of trees last year but they were so old and well overgrown. They kept me warm at least chopping them up and throw them in the Wood burner
Can you tell me which part of Bulgaria you're in? I'm looking at North at the moment , outside Vidin . I love your house , it's good and solid , and your doggos and kitty are obviously loved . I
Hello, I’m right down in the Southeast around 5 km from Greece . I’ve only ever driven through Vindin Calafat area either way, I don’t think you’re going to be disappointed Bulgaria is a magical place. So underrated and hospitality/friendliness his next level. Especially if you’re trying to speak to them in their tongue.
@@Ash-v8b do it do it sooner than later worst case scenario, you can just buy a house. And when you get more money start renovating. It was about £7000. But prices have gone up considerably. Since then I think my house is probably worth about 8k now
It’s 10 L gas bottle heater it cost 27 Lev to refill every month and a half very nice instant heat The brand is Tesy. Good build quality structurally... but sometimes I find that I have to use my lighter to get the pilot to stay on which is not cool

@@beautyandthetour156 yes the gas heater. Oh yes of course with your air conditioned windows you have natural ventilation so that wouldn't be an issue. Oops about the glass! 🤭
Don't get me wrong, you seem like a delightful chap and a Londoner like me, and for context I also have a Hoval in Bulgaria I am trying to renovate so very much in the same boat... I'm just curious as to why you find living this way preferable, it's a dramatic change I'm just curious as what caused it, Regards
Its very simple rewarding life. It allows so much freedom to express oneself with no boundaries. As a Londoner somebody from the island I’m sure you’ll be familiar with the bureaucracy and the amount of red tape every corner you turn. I don’t have this in Bulgaria have absolutely everything I asked for . This may be tuff for Some but without adversities Life is boring especially in a city like London. All the good raving spots are gone people grow up and have children. This is the best time to learn how to keep a small holding growing food and keeping animals whilst I’m still young and able-bodied
@@beautyandthetour156 mmm, similar for me, I regard it as a green gym for life, but I'm married so I can't force my wife into a Chernobyl lifestyle without question being asked, so I can't quite pull off the free and wild caveman vibe as of yet and as I adore her nothing will change there I hope... Hardship is humbling and good for us, but there are levels and ages where the demands of comfort come into play, I'm 55 and an ex Astoria Raver.....so age does have a say eventually for these lifestyle choices. I just saw your cute video lovely location . I think that’s the difference between some of us immigrants. My videos are in season I actually live here through the bleak weather too
this is both heaven and hell at exactly the same time. So much to do, so much to never get done! I love it.
As long as I get the house rewired and all of my fancy plumbing bathroom fittings installed . The rest might never get done

Keep sharing your experience, my friend. This is the sort of experience I love, but I appreciate this isn't for everyone.

We had an old range aga looked just like that one in Ireland..Stanley number 9
I’ve only ever seen one Stanley wood-burning oven available for sale ... I will totally get one if the price is right

Well, a lot of potential....just, the time invested....yea...depends how fast you want it to be done and what you find fun to work on yourself.
