I can only recommend Sakashima's Will. It gives you an extra creature, triggers magecraft to turn something into 8/8 (hopefully something unblockable) and then your whole board turns into that 8/8 unblockable! talk about alpha striking in mono blue
Unfortunately, "Sakashima's Will copies the printed values of the chosen creature. It won’t copy any counters on that creature or any effects that have changed its power, toughness, types, color, and so on. Notably, it won’t copy effects that made the chosen creature become a creature if it isn’t normally a creature. For example, if you choose a land that’s become a creature, all your other creatures will become noncreature lands until end of turn." That rule's taken straight from its Oracle rulings. So it won't turn your whole board into 8/8's. That being said, turning all of your creatures into copies of Archmage Emeritus, Final Iteration, etc. can be pretty epic in and of itself (plus the bonus of taking a creature from an opponent - even if they choose which one it is).
Sakashima octave then clones then you get a tonne of unblockable 8/8s easy, alternatively have a flying creature engine and it becomes even more devastating.
The only thing I don't like about my Octavia deck Is that I feel like I'm doing absolutely nothing until I got something to do and then by that time everyone's outraged me. But saying that the dick is never gotten blown out and I've always had a reasonable amount of fun playing it.
Same. I feel like the design kept it tame at having to have no less than 8 instants and sorceries and it's not a reductive effect. For example, it doesn't cost X less where X is the # of instants and sorceries in your graveyard. That's why I went with the 1-drop cantrip approach. They replace themselves and if I'm playing on curve, I play 1 Turn 1, 2 Turn 2, 3 Turn 3 and then by Turn 4 I already have 6 in the yard, so 2 more get me to Octavia Turn 4 (hopefully).
Octavia (that's a name and is not the number nor the word 8), octopus, nor the 8 in the 081 of the set numbers count. I'm only counting the 8's in the casting cost, textbox, and p/t along with the word eight in the text box.
