Man, I remember this build well! Those were the days. Sunday mornings and Spike TV! I'm super glad you have it. We used to have a couple of these fighting wildfire, always wanted one... still do!!!
@@BigTireGarageI watched every episode. I’m lucky to have worked in a 4x4 shop and a lot of my knowledge came from that show. It’s still something I love and I owe it all to you man.
The lockjaw build inspired me to start my 1952 Dodge M37 build, exact same back story, rescued it from the crusher after being an army truck and a brush fire truck for multiple municipalities!
Ian, you're not that much older than me, but enough so that I used to get myself out of bed, every Saturday morning, as a teen who had probably had some sports event the night before, to watch you and Jesse, and the rest of the crew on Power Block. All of you were instrumental in making me into the gearhead I am today!
Had my wife track down Corvette Summer and RAD one year to relive my favorite movies with her. I love Annie Potts spraying the oil off Mark in carwash.
Ian as a disabled Army Veteran I appreciate the care and respect you always show. I watched that truck build on the old show. If you ever choose to pass it down it should go to an Army or Marine Veteran that will appreciate the truck for what it represents.
I was on a volunteer fire dept. in California . We used two M715 for brush rigs. Our county had 7 in total all had small block Chevys.. With 500 gallons in the bed they would climb.
This brings back memories of service; first job as an Army wheel vehicle mechanic was installing a choke cable on a 5 quarter. Could have been this very truck...
I just found your channel. I used to watch your show. Pops didn’t know much about cars so I used your show to learn how cars work. I definitely subbed. I appreciate the content. P.s love the shop man. Living the dream.
I was thinking about this truck lately and decided to buy two stickers because of its impact on me building my K5. Then this video came out. Thank you Ian!
I had a jeep Wagoneer I put a 455 Buick Stage one 390 hp+ engine in and replace of the 350 put a rod to the side of the block it had Orange suspension lift kit 12 50, 33,15 TA Radial mud tired it was a great every day driver once or twice a year with 390hp+ Under the hood 800 cfm spread bore double pumper Holley fun jeep
I’ve had a M715 for three years now. While I always thought they were cool, I was definitely inspired by lockjaw. Now it’s rocking LQ9/4L80/magnum 205… soon hopefully to be in the trails.
@@BigTireGarage while I know they’re basically a paperweight. I’ve still got the original T98 and NP200… free to good home to anyone restoring one. Just hate to see stuff like that hit the scrap yard.
Whatever happened to the flat nose Izzu with Cummins power you were building for expedition wheeling? I think it was the first time I ever saw a rivnut tool being used.
my brother has a 715 no bed no motor or tranny it has yet to be made into a bad ass trail rig we just ain't the the money and shop to do it right now but it has plans. what's cool about it is it's still OD green and has a faded white star on each door
Ironically KIA builds a copy of the M715 for the South Korean army. I have wanted an M715 for decades. When I was a broke college kid I saved up a few hundred bucks to buy a 4wd and left the small college town I was in to go half way across the state to buy an old Subaru to wheel with and when I got back I found out that they had a county auction that day and there was a pretty nice M715 than sold for $300. This was early '90s. I've been looking for a good deal on one ever since.
I've got me a 97 Jeep Wrangler it's had a little rough of a life Yes it's a four-cylinder Yes it's a 5-speed I'm building it for my two sons that have autism All said and done I would like to put a new frame under it Chevy V6 not huge but capable The biggest thing I need right now is a passenger door
You would have been the ultamit shop teacher i had Joe Austin a kinda kitchy cool guy maybe his hands were tied the year befor it was auto shop the freakin year i got there it was auto body class so all i got to do was sand paint down to bear metal by hand 😾🤕 after 3 days of it my 14 year old hands were toast

Them were the days especially before Jessie combs died

That is awesome to hear!!
Same here. I watched powerblock way back in the 90's. Powerblock was pretty instrumental in my automotive passion that I have today.

Very good point!!!!
Corvette Summer was a dream movie. Save the classics
Such a fun movie

I saved 2 1965 J series trucks because they too were at the scrap yard

I like that truck, so cool. I’m glad that you owned it and not the production company
Love the truck, love the story!
One of my favorite Jeep models of all time. And I love how you’ve built that one! 👊
Glad you like it!
I was laughing about that reference before you brought it up… I saw that movie again a few months ago. So cool to find that you did it on purpose.
Makes me miss my M715 so bad. I want to do another one sometime soon.
One of my most treasured T-shirts is my lockjaw T. Such a cool truck!!
Just launched a new one rwcwntly

On of my all time favorite builds! I'm currently on the lookout for a M715 now
I have a great one..was gonna build it to send to auction
@ heck yeah! What kind of build are you talking? Similar to lockjaw or something different?
Setup for more of a daily driver/weekend wheeler not throwdown crawler
@ I like the sound of that! Sounds legit! Would love to get more details when it's available
Shoot me an email
It's always interesting to hear about the history of a vehicle. I'm glad you saved it!
Glad you enjoyed it

Right on
Reminds me the one this psycho had early game in GTA5 cool truck for sure.
Yeah when I first built it I got tons of "Trevor's truck" from younger fans...older fans said "Point Break, Red Hot Chili Peppers"
Thanks for the info, Ian. I too didn’t get the Corvette Summer reference.
It’s a classic movie that I grew up watching! It’s on the list of films to watch if you haven’t yet.
That thing is awesome!
That's always been my favorite build..great rig
Awesome truck!

Definitely one of my favorite builds! Thanks for the update on it!
I'm glad you're enjoying the updates!
@ definitely keep them coming!
So cool
It's not the Jeep that's turning people's heads...It's your hair! Lol. They're just recognizing you. 👍
liked👍
Cool story, haven’t seen the show about it
You can find it on TH-cam I believe...just search Lockjaw
@@BigTireGarage thanks
Nice.

This vehicle is proof that you dont need coils or coilovers to have suspension that works!!
True
Love this build? Glove box sill open?
Yea....
@@BigTireGarage It is a quacktastic feature. :)
Yes...and the duck is still in there

What AC/DC Welder do you use and why?.. Cool history on the truck.

My brother-in-law‘s cousin painted that car for Corvette summer
Ni WAY...that is so cool!!!
How about 1930's or 1940s? Dodge power wagons, there are some for sale here in Utah.
I do love those old trucks!!!
If you want to build another, my project M-715 is stalled.

I enjoyed the video. But I'm sure you just added at least $1000 to the cost of an old 715 project vehicle 🤣🤣
I think they were already on the way up
Comanche
Its coming along...just need to get back on it
What about the Suzuki Samaria? That was way cool.
