    No one actually sells these or any wrecking knives in the mainstream stores in the U.S. But it looks pretty solid.

      Now that you mention it, yeah. I've never seen these in stores when I'm over in the states. I think perhaps it's more of a European tradesperson thing.

      I do have a few different utility knives. I would highly recommend the Mora Garberg or the Mora Bushcraft Black.. Good stuff

      @@NocturnalState303 if price is not an issue, then the black and garberg are definitely awesome. The 2449 is just a cheap alternative (if available 😅). That's being said, even tho it is a cheap alternative to the mainstream bushcraft knives, it's still an extremely capable knife - which is what I'm trying to get across in this vid.

    look into hultafors gv or ok-1 or ok4,its also indestructible for the same price as a mora

    • @BorealWilderness
      @BorealWilderness  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The hultafors OK series are indestructible in a similar way that a mora is. The bahco 2449 is however on a different level due to its significantly thicker spine and beefed up construction. It was designed to be hammered....with a hammer...lol. That being said, all these knives are great performers and one can't go wrong choosing one or the other. It's just that the mora and hultafors will allow for better whittling and feather sticking

      The HF GK is 93mm(L), 3mm(T) vs the Bahco's 103mm(L), 4mm(T). Minor differences but the the profile and tang are very similar indeed.

    It's a great survival knife. What sort of steel is it? I have a similar knife which I use when going camping, it's 1095 carbon steel & it's a Gerber Strong Arm. It has serve me very well for over a decade. It may costs a bit more but it's worth the money then again it's less expensive than the high end tools like KaBar & ESSE etc. Thank you for sharing mate. Greetings from Austrlia.

    • @BorealWilderness
      @BorealWilderness  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As Bahco knives are either made by Mora or use Mora steel at an approved factory (as would be the case for the 2449 as it's made in Taiwan), it's probably Mora's version of 12C27. Back when I got the knife I did find some literature online somewhere on this exact topic, but I can't for the life of me locate it now. Hope this helps.

      There is no evidence it's SK5,as far as i know.But possible, he seems to read SK5 from the package(8:50min), can't find informations on the steel anywere.
      I own(-ed) three of theese wrecking knives. The steel works great and compareable to other knife/cuting tools I own made of SK5.I recomend not to sharpen it in a lower angle.

      If the nail is hardened then yes of course but it should cut mild steel nail or wire with small damages only.

    • @BorealWilderness
      @BorealWilderness  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's pretty decent. It has a good combination of edge retention and ease of sharpening. Well balanced

  • @anelpasic5232
    @anelpasic5232 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really like the blade shape, but the design of the handle is not a good design choice, especially in the area where your index finger fits.
    I prefer a wide oval shaped handle that you can grip with thick gloves in cold weather and have a good grip on it. A round profiled handle tends to roll in your hand which subconsciously tells your hand to grip it harder which in term tires it out a lot faster. For food though, not a problem at all.

    • @BorealWilderness
      @BorealWilderness  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The handle is very grippy so don't think you'd face that problem. Also, many traditional knives use barrel style handles to great effect.
      The little finger coil guard doesn't get in the way at all and even affords some impact protection if the knife slips.
      Overall it's quite an ergonomic design even though it does not follow the current design norms per se.

      @sudheer kenguva try callingll your local Bahco distributor if to there's one in your country and scour construction supply stores both online and physical too. If you don't have any luck (i also didnt have any luck), you'll have to get it online. It's generally available in the US, UK and some EU countries.... countries that use timber framing for their house construction.

    Bahco 2444 is just a rebranded Mora Clipper but this one I'm not sure what it is. The other Bahco knives are chinese and awful performers. 2444 and 2449 are viable choices.
