I miss his presence now... He with Metheny and others, created some of the most magical an memorable, peaceful, non-verbal, thought-provoking music, of my life. Sending smiles, love and light, to the spirit which WAS the fabulous, and kind-hearted, Lyle Mays.
Lyle's compositions are the best on earth, now he's not on earth anymore. I really wish he is in a much better place. Rest in Peace, I will always love that unique music

I discovered Lyle Mays in 1986 when a fellow colleague invited me to check out his album just titled: Lyle Mays, which has Highland Aire, Close to Home, Mirror of the Heart, and others. He loned me the vinyl, I listened to it and I couldn't get enough. At that time a popular prog jazz radio program titled jazz flavors out of Atlanta, GA aired the song Highland Aire, and when I first heard it I thought it was such a great song, full of expression, as really all his songs were. Beautiful tribute, thank you. Lyle Mays and PMG have been part of my musical root system since I saw them for the first time at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley in 1987. I walked away emotionally shellshocked. Thank you for the music Lyle!
