Hey! Definitely you got all the points!
Just adding, I consider a digital nomad myself, because my work is 100% online, I’m not attached to any place if I don’t want to… I think thats what makes me a digital nomad. I don’t travel all the time tho… I think it is exhausting…
Digital nomad for me is travelling when I want without depending on a specific city. I’m doing like 2 or 3 travels per year, about 1 month each, and im loving it. No FOMO, and no burn out.

I so understand the deep but short relationships. I’m at that stage in my life now where I want a community and a sense of belonging. A sense of home. Experiencing multiple homes is such a privilege, but having *the* place where you feel at home (unfortunately it’s not really my home country for me) is the biggest privilege.
    Thanks for the video Sorelle!

“Have a door that is yours” resonates with me so much at this moment.
I don’t have my place for more then two years and I feel, exactly as you said, exhausted of not having a home.
I wish it changes soon in the best possible way🙏✨🌈
    Thank you for sharing🙏💚🍀

I always wanted to be a nomad, I'm one at hearts, since I was young. Though I can't at the moment cause I have a family now with a fiance who's uncomfortable with that since we have a toddler. I hope one day to have that life before I hit my late 30s. Though I should be grateful having a roof over my head of a apartments,, I know I'm not happy being solitary in one place. Before meeting my fiance, I was never home; I was always at my friends' house, going out of town, and etc. Freedom was my spark of life. I'm working hard to get my little camper and car; I don't have one cause my mom never took me to a DMV after we agreed, I'll take a driver class in high school, but it's ok I'm excited when the time comes!

I'm perfectly happy being in one place at my home, with my stuff and friends. But having the ability to CHOOSE to go whenever and wherever, and not dependent on location or selling time for income.. that's the goal!

I wish this video was available in 2016 when I was a U.S. expat living in Buenos Aires, Argentina & touring S. America for 3 months after I graduated university as a photographer. Great points! The digital nomad life can be difficult to navigate. I returned to the U.S to start a career as a professional videographer & Producer. Thanks for the wealth of knowledge Sorelle!

I'm a full-time digital nomad, 40+ and sold my home and everything. I agree to the freedom and people admiring me, but I definitely always seek long term stays! Always! because I NEED a routine and a gym and getting to know people.
I FULLY agree to needing self-discipline to get things done, maybe you can do a video about that one day?
What I do is create a routine as if I"m a locale right away, I don't spend time traveling around much at all and I always go to the same café, I pick ONE and stick to it, this to eliminate too much ''newness''
Still loving my life, but I WILL invest in a new ''door'' next year for sure! A home base.
Though I also agree on the lack of hassle of owning a home :)
Oh well...pros and cons for sure, it's a CHOICE everyone has to make for themselves.
And when it doesn't please me, I will change again :)

This is definitely my dream someday. I've been working towards it for a couple years but full time for the past month. Some of what you mentioned I've recently figured out and have done but during "vacations".
My last trip I traveled for over two weeks, scheduled longer stays so I'd have down time and work at the same time. I absolutely loved it. My husband and I traveled within the US but to different states and cities. So I've got a small taste of what it's like. I loved being able to spend quality time in one place. It definitely felt like that's what I should be doing.
After a month at home I was ready to go again. I get this antsy feeling that I don't know how to explain. I'm overdue to travel again even though it's only been two months.
If I had the money, I would've been gone traveling already.
Thank you for sharing this with us.

As a trucker who drives coast to coast point #1 really hits home, (no pun intended honestly.) When I go home and stay with my girlfriend I feel like I’m in the way and it’s exhausting to have to go back-and-forth to my storage unit when I need something. Since I desire to relax more when I’m home I’ve decided to buy my first house.

So many of these points ring true for us. We definitely agree with staying at a place for longer. Researching where you want to stay, what you want to do etc can take a decent chunk of time and moving from place to place can take a day in itself, so it's nice to have some time to more fully experience an area and give yourself time to chill as well.

My husband and I have been digital nomads on and off since 2006, it changed our lives completely, and we’re not about to change just yet, but we definitely would like a base. Were about to start traveling again this time in an overland vehicle. Driving our home off grid and driving to other countries. I agree with you taking things slower is much better and avoiding air travel too as it gets more complicated every year. I’m about to start a new business as a mobile body artist so our new travels will allow me to connect with nature and people more as I love creating art and I love people 😉 it’s a must if you want to travel 😉 the world is better when you can slow down and enjoy the journey.

Hi Sorelle, I am trying to get into the nomad life with my current job (not yet my own business although I am planning on that) since the company allows me to work remotely as a developer and I would like to test the ground by spending a month (at least) in Portugal visiting several main cities from north to south. In the video you mentioned a time that may be too short when spending it in one place, how long would you recommend at minimum to stay in one city without feeling to be rushing the experience? I know that at the end it is subjective, but what was that time for you? :)

As a digital nomad, I love the video. You are exactly describing the pro and cons. To be able to close my own door, I am now traveling in Europe with a Camper. I found that I really need to feel at home somewhere and the camper is providing that. Slow travel is crucial in my experience as well. In addition to what you said, I get out of my work rhythm when moving locations (which is basically fine) but I have a hard time getting back into the rhythm again, so I skip a lot of days until I'm settled in the new place. Nevertheless, I love this life! Now I also rent a small apartment in Hamburg to come back to.

Even though I've never been a digital nomad, I imagine it would get tiresome after a while if you don't have a friend or partner to travel with? After all, being away from every thing that's familiar to you (your home country, friends, family etc) and having those deep and fleeting connections with people wouldn't be sustainable for a long period of time.
Also, how much time do we have before the pre-sale ends?! I'm thinking of purchasing it within the next couple of weeks!
Thanks for this content Sorelle! 😍😊😁 Xx

    • @Abundantiaco
      @Abundantiaco  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

It definitely does. It seems at first like you could do it forever, but I think everyone needs time to feel like they have a home - even for a short while.
And the pre-sale ends October 1st! Not long now.

Another con I've found is the expectations you can put on yourself, and how crushing they can feel. These days when I get to a new city/country, all I expect out of myself in the first couple of days is to find the nearest ATM, the closest corner store, and a good cafe to work from. Otherwise, I let myself be a homebody and chill as much as I want, because starting fresh each time can feel physically and mentally draining!

So true, thank you for confirming on everything I experienced while travelling and working! I would want to call myself a digital nomad as I did it for 2 years in a row and staying longer in Paris and Tokyo and Sri Lanka made me truly happy... I can recall all the moments there because it wasn`t one week running in blur and seeing it on photos to remember... if we can stay one month or more somewhere we can feel the place and take it with us:))))))

@@Abundantiaco Haha, almost perfect! Just a bit surprised and wondering why you used Vietnamese. You're learning Vietnamese? Anyway, consider heading to HCMC some time. You'll love the city.

I try and do a different language's greeting in each video, and today was Vietnamese! Been to Vietnam twice now, absolutely beautiful country, and some of the warmest people I've ever met.

@@Abundantiaco I'd love to meet if you come back in the future. I'm a freelance photographer based in HCMC. We could have fun taking some photos. Been watching a bunch of your self-portrait vids, and now I'm here learning finance from you. Keep up the good work!

I want to invest in something this year because what opened my eyes was a 17 year old vending chilli Cheese dogs at the park the other day and I felt I wasn't doing enough.

Maintaining a home in Australia could expose your worldwide income to Australian Taxation. Especially if your are an Australian Citizen in the first place. It probably won’t matter that you only spend 2 months in that house if you don’t own a home anywhere else in the world.

I’ve always loved the idea of traveling, but staying in each place for a while. Maybe a few months :)

Cool content, however what’s the best hustle to start asap from 0 to generate 4-5 figures income that really works ?

I always hat the idea to travel toe world, but also having my own door to return to. It supposed to be home. A place to relax. And I want to try to rent out my place in the time I am away, so I may be able to get some of the costs back in as passive income / or basically having my house "pay itself". I realised when I was Living in Australia, that having a space of my own is very valuable.
Also deep traveling and staying for longer is amazing. Australia has been my first long term stay. I lived there as a student, but I prolonged and did an internship AND traveled. In the end I waa able to stay 9 months and it was really a nice experience. I stayed in Prague for a few days and in school I was in England for a week or so. But staying for longer definetly lets one experience more instead of "just seeing the cool places". I lived at the pacific ocean. That's so amazing. I am still pulling energy from that, and I will return some day for sure.
Thanks for sharing your insights, Sorelle!

Maybe a dumb question: what about choosing suitable accommodation for a more extended time? Do you feel it is better to rent alone a cheap Airbnb or find other digital nomads that share your “productiveness target” and share the experience together?
