    I used to envy Famiclone owners as a kid. We didn't know they were pirate systems, they were just called "Asian version" Nintendos over here, probably because the original PAL NES says "European version" on the lid. I never actually played one as a kid, but you could always hear fables of the Asian versions which had HUNDREDS of games.

      SHADE A.I Gaming Chamber I did got a bootleg console from a toy center called cyberzone in the mall in iloilo city.
      it's basically a ripoff of the playstation 1 console and it has a game that's a hack of mario but changed the sprite with pickachu.
      and I think it comes with a cd that my dad put in a dvd player and plugged in the bootleg ps1 controllers (they actually fit)
      and it had like 30-40 games and they're all the same.

    You know why Pegasus had similar logo to Sega MegaDrive/Genesis? Because Sega did make a deal with BobMark (Polish distributor of these Taiwan famiclones known in Poland as Pegasus) to distribute MegaDrive in Poland under Power Pegasus name. Unfortunately for Sega they did this too late because in this time Sony released first Playstation model which gained much more popularity in Poland. Now MegaDrive clones Power Pegasus are extremely rare. I live in Poland and I remember these times where on flea markets you could buy tons of many different Famocom cartridges (although I never owned Pegasus which I regret this, it was good times).

    That Zapper port looks a lot like one of the ports on the Japanese Famicom, which allows you to use an additional controller for player one, as well as being the port used for the Japanese light gun. Since it was originally a Famicom bootleg, maybe that’s why it has that port?

  • @SteigerHSV
    @SteigerHSV 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Pegasus is Polish Famiclone (first model is MT-777DX 1:18 on video, nice "photoshop" work upthere huh :D). Its starts like that: Two guys travelings between china and poland brought jeans and sell them on polish market. In one of that travel they seeing famiclone there. Back then all we had are atari 2600 clone and like 99% players didint even know why his "game" had that weird port on front (even sometimes that port on clone atari was only for decoration). So they brought that famiclone to poland and start new company as "Bobmark". "Bobmark" after selling pegasus special games (like golden 5 in famiclone shell) starts export it and imports even more consoles to poland for example extremely rare console Pegasus 2 16bit that was real PAL genesis with diffrent name

    In the European countries, they were forced to change them to the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, since local censorship policies deemed the word ninja to have excessively violent connotations for a children's program. The policies also had other effects, such as editing out use of Michelangelo's nunchaku (which were at the time banned from appearing in 18-rated movies) and generally toning down the usage of all the turtles' weapons.

    • @piluex2
      @piluex2 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    there's a bit of irony there
    The Polish enterpreneur who imported this console into Poland, later, when the anti-piracy laws were put in place, actually tried officially releasing Sega Mega Drive/Genesis in Poland, rebranded as "Super Famicom". It didn't go far, because Playstation was already getting in there (we got Pegasus when the rest of the civilised world was already well into 16 bits).

    Dude this isn't orignal Pegasus. Pegasus was rebranded Micro-Genius IQ-502 and MT-777DX, and sold by POLISH company called Bobmark. And of course made with VASTLY higher quality plastic, although eject mechanism would often break because the levers
    were made out of plastic and cartridge ports were notoriously tight. My Iq-502 would shoot cartridges up literally in the air, so yep
    not must useful functionality. However the pads were EXTREMELY good quality, made out of VERY thick plastic...THIS is just garbage.

    If you played every game for as long as Phaylus talked about this console by video length (24 minutes, 56 seconds), that'd take 9,333,356.4 minutes to do.
    That's as much as:
    •155,555.94 hours
    •6,481.4975 days
    •925.928214 weeks
    •216.044917 30-day months
    •17.7575274 years (not accounting for leap years).
    The average life expectancy for 2010 is 67.2. This means that about 26.4249% of your life would be dedicated to playing all these games. It also proves bootleggers have no concept of being able to play all 9,999,999 games in your lifetime.

    how do you go about searching for pirated games on ebay? Sometimes with famiclones I can search for specific models, but its hard to find pirated games, I'm never sure what to search for.

    I have a theory as to why the serial number is missing. I'm guessing the number is differently stamped in the factory, but the one you got never went through the belt as it might have been liquidated assets.

    I'd say that it needs to take real NES carts to be a true replacement.

    Review the Terminator and/or Terminator 2. It's a Famicom clone that looks like a Genesis 2.

    You should look for multisystem crt tv. I had one from brand Royal-lux that supported pal, secam, ntsc-1 and ntsc-2. Forgot model no though. No need for pal/ntsc converters then, everything will work nicely.
