I feed my dogs sardines, herrings and mackerel slow cooked. I use it as toppers on their kibble and they absolutely love it. Their skin and fur is so shiny. We’ve also been able to maintain my beagle’s weight!

My poodle and GSD won’t eat smelts, so I blend one of their meals with smelts using a Ninja blender. They think is very delicious that way 😂. My husky loves them.

I catch panfish (crappie and bluegill), cut the spines off, hard freeze them and feed them to my beagle and American bulldog
Make sure you check everywhere for hooks and you freeze for at least 3 weeks and you should be good!

I've seen you say freezing fresh water fish for 3 weeks first. I'm new to this style of feeding. Why wait so long before feeding the fish to my dog?

Hold the fish up to a flash lighta& u can see the worms ,keep in mind what the fish you are feeding your dog, are eating!!! Questions? Is anyone worrying about the salt content in sardines and other salty fish for instance Haddock can have worms ,my husband is a life long fisherman, this is how I know this info about fish and worms will make there way to the heart ,and by the time u notice that something isn't right with your dog. It's to late. ,I bought a flea and tick medicine for my dogs calls bravecto and within hours it started poisoning my dog Todd he was a Japanese Chin this particular medicine lasted for three months instead of one pill every month I live with that guilt I feel horrible horrible cuz I gave it to him and there was no reversing the poison that was the second worst day of my life just make sure you talk to a vet listen to vets they're talking about who have experience like this gentleman here that we're all watching thank you very much by the way I am just going to ask for a little prayer for my dog he's a chihuahua scheduled to have an ultrasound on his liver it might be cancer or it might be Cushing's or it might be God only knows what I'm freaking out I'm sick I can't even I'm walking in circles and praying to God you know it's terrible I'm a former animal groomer retired animal groomer I love my dogs I would take a bullet for them just like you all would. ,your cats All Pets & animals you have..my service dogs name is Smegal, I named him after the character from Lord of the rings ,he's pure white and when he was just a little guy he had wrinkles on his head ,lol bless u all and have a safe new year's eve! Pretty sure if you add food grade diatomaceous earth to your food it will kill off any parasites. Farmers use this regularly to keep their animals healthy. It's available at most feed stores.

@@RawFeeding101 I have a dog who is allergic to chicken and pork. Leaving food options down to beef or fish. Beef is not on the budget so leave fish the last resort. But I don’t want to do anything wrong

There’s a lot of other options. Turkey, duck, quail, rabbit, venison, elk, and of course fish mixed in as well.

Great video! I like to go fishing, one things with the smelt fish is the inertial worms you can see on they meat the worm moving 😬, so my Q: those worms can get to the dog heart? Or somewhere else?

@@basscannon762 should be fine after freezing. Salmon sushi was never a thing until freezing came in, too many worms
What about bluegill or catfish what other kinds of fish can you feed dogs i live in indiana and i can catch alot of bluegill vary easly same for catfish
Both are okay :) just no spines from the catfish :)
If you catch it yourself it’s has to be even better. I am not a professional that just makes sense to me. Ask yourself would you eat it?

I feed sardines and smelt from my local Asian market, and I get my salmon from Costco or Publix.

Careful with salmon because it bacteria in it that’s harmful to dogs. Salmon, trout, flounder are just a few that are on the bad list.
It all comes down to sourcing.
Can dogs eat fresh bluefin tuna?
I don’t recommend dogs eat any fresh caught meats without being frozen for 3 weeks first and checked for parasites. 🪱

Hello! Im new to raw feeding and to your channel, I'm hoping you can answer a question for me. Is it safe to feed any fish with skin and bone in it? For example, I know sardine and other very small fish are bite sized and the bones are very thin and safe. However for fish like a large mackerel, or bass, or any larger fish, are the bones safe? Im concerned because theyre so skinny and seem very pointy and I cant find concrete info if only fillet can be served or if you can keep the bone in. Thanks!
Welcome to the channel! Generally speaking yes, but I can only speak to mackerel as far as personal experience goes.

hello how often would you feed fish? We were able to get a box of Norwegian Saba & they are like the perfect size for a whole meal for my dogs. I'd want to feed it 3x week since it will help with raw feeding cost. But I'm not sure if that is too much or if there are any issues with feeding too much fish.

Thawed. 1 - 1.5 ounces of smelt per 30lbs of body weight
