*To answer some question that people may ask...
1. No, my dogs don't live in the kennel. It is used to separate the dogs when feeding them raw food. My channel is mostly a vlog of our daily wilderness hike. They get PLENTY of exercise.
2. Yes, it's OK to feed your dogs 'RAW' bones. It's only cooked bone you should never feed your dogs - including those large Smoke Bones they sell at pet stores. Cooking the bone makes it undigested, brittle and prone to causing obstruction of the g-track and a perforated bowel. Canines are meant to digest raw bones and have been doing it for millions of years. Don't take my word for it though, I'm just some guy on TH-cam... lol. Do your research. I'll provide some links down below if you'd like to do that. I've been feeding this way for over 20 years with great results.

The BARF diet is exactly what I chose when I took in my Rottweiler from a rescue. I never fed raw before and tried to research them all including with Prey Model. I read the books you listed and chose Barf diet about 6 months ago. I never fed raw before and decided to go for it. I read and read and researched all I could, but I have to tell you that your channel, here, it has helped me more than all the books and google reading. You really helped me a lot and answered so many concerns of mine when I never even asked you 😂 Things I was unsure of and you filled in so many gaps. I’m so glad I found your channel because you made my transition so much easier. No doubt you have inspired sooooo many people!! What a knowledgeable +humble person you are and how beautifully you treat your dogs. I just love watching your videos.

Thanks for the pointer about freezing the fish to kill parasites. I wasn't aware of that.
I'm not a specialist but im pretty positive freezing fish doesnt kill parasites in salmon or any other fish. Unless your freezer produces absolute zero. lol. Cooking it would kill parasites 100%. I personally cook my dogs salmon. Makes me comfortable because I know there is no chance of parasites. Freezing it leaves a chance.
I freeze all meats before I give it to my baby, she doesn't like fish or the fish smell.

Laurali James absolute zero is not zero degrees like you think. It’s zero kelvin which is so cold, it’s only been calculated theoretically as the lowest temperature possible in our universe, but we’ve never actually gotten close to reaching such temperatures naturally or in labs. It’s -460 degrees Fahrenheit
MrJustliketht freezing fish very well can kill parasites (which are animals like the fish) but not all bacteria because some can survive in extreme temperatures.
Notice how the dog isn't trying to eat as fast as he can. He's taking the time to enjoy it...

Your dog has beautiful clean teeth from eating a fresh food diet, namely, the Raw Meaty Bones diet (RMB): the whole fish fed as "HEAD to TAIL" provides raw meat + raw organ meat (fish brains) + raw bones (calcium). A fresh food diet prompts the release of happy endorphins in the brain that leads to a much satisfied dog at the completion of his meal.

My grandmother raised German sheps back in the 50s and 60s on a farm. Those dogs always received raw meat from butchered hogs, sheep, cattle, bones/hooves, and raw milk from the dairy cattle. Dogs would catch fish from the creek and eat them. If they wanted veggies they would dig up her garden. She said she would get so mad at them but just dealt with it. Loved her sheps dearly. Never had a skinny dog and she said their coats were awesome.

I don't understand why you think I'm vegan, I just asked whether he feeds his dogs starch as well as meat. Nothing wrong with feeding dogs starchy foods like rice, sweet potatoes or the like since dogs unlike wolves can digest starch; that's why they can live alongside humans since long time ago.
By the way I am not a vegetarian or vegan, and I love dogs I used to own a German Shepherd/Dalmatian mix, she loved to eat rice or sweet potato along with fish or meat.

I don't know why humans think that feeding unatural foods to animals is healthy, they have evolved for millions of years to eat this kind of food, you never see wild dogs and wolves with the kinds of ailments that our pets get.
This applies to humans as well, our diets are so far beyond what we ate hundreds of thousands of years ago, and then we sit here and wonder why we are so obese and unhealthy.

I've had dogs a large part of my life. I've never given them table scraps, Learned that as a kid from my Great-Gr-Mother. I'd heard somewhere not to give them chicken bones. But, I've recently gotten a new pup (last one passed about 2 years ago) and decided to do some research on what's best... vaccination's, feeding, training, all of it.
I'm 53 this month and I'm starting to realize how much of what I "thought I knew" to be right, is actually false.
Dogs ate raw meat long before he was domesticated. So, feeding them raw meat is actually what nature intended. It's the cooked and man-made shit we have been feeding them that has corrupted their health.
I've actually got an almost full bag of puppy food that's going to the trash tomorrow, because I've learned today from TH-cam, what he should actually be eating.

I have been researching and really want to start adding raw and veggies for his meals. As kibble is rubbish, my pup never eats it, and it's hella expensive in UK... Only problem he hardly chews food, like he just has a crunch on a hide bone snapping a little off, then just swallows chunks... What if he doesn't crunch though raw stuff?
My dog does the same thing and I have been feeding him raw for a while. I think it just makes them fart more because it's harder for them to digest the raw food if they don't chew it. I'm not an expert- I'm just trying it with my dog and have not had any issues for a couple years. Probably depends how big the dog is.
Freeze it. They’re forced to chew it. I freeze then just give it a quick rinse so their tongues aren’t getting stuck to it lol.

My dog also INHALES his food usually. But when I gave him raw bone-in chicken he definitely slowed down to crunch the bones up. I think they swallow kibble because it’s already broken down into small pieces.

Hallo Chaddy, do you choose especially fish species with no much bones? What is the temperature at you frozen the fish? Are you letting the fish thaw again before the dogs get it?
I tend to buy fish based on availability and not bones. I have access to tilapia in good bulk prices right now. I have no idea what temperature my old chest freezer freezes things? it freezes them solid... lol. I tend to not thaw out the fish as feeding it to them still frozen really cuts down on the fishy smells and oils they get on them eating it. It makes a huge difference smell wise. :-)
I have learned something new.
So funny. One time I had a pack of blue fins thawing in the sink and my shepherd got up there and ate all 6 fish. Wasn't long after that he went on raw foods. I love your videos

opichocal Holy hell!!! 😱 Iams is one of the worst dog foods out there! I won't profess to be an expert but I do have a little bit of knowledge from my job working at Petsmart. I always recommend blue buffalo, wellness, or natural balance. If you decide not to go raw I'd start with one of those foods and steer clear of anything made by Purina, Pedigree, or Iams. There's a reason those foods are usually kept within the same aisle with each other....they're all 💩.

I wish you would give us a nutrition video for dogs. I want to try raw foods for my dog but I'm a bit apprehensive because of the parasites. So knowing how to do it would be helpful.

I just started feeding my dog fish (he had sardines before but I just got lazy going to the Asian store to get them) but finally picked up some Smelt for him! They come frozen with the heads are removed, but the bag says they are wild caught. Do you ever freeze your fish in case they carry parasites, especially ones that are wild caught? Not sure how long I should freeze these before feeding him.

I feed my dog canned sardines (in oil), it's been advised to me by my vet, they are full of good non-saturated fat and omega 3 which are healthy and especially good for the joints (my dog is old and full of arthrosis).
Other than that i stopped giving him processed food, i cook everything myself : chicken/turkey, rice, carrots/green beens... I can tell you my dog's never been happier... He had kidney failure/kidney stones cause of the processed food... He's doing much better today...

How do i get it to eat it? My chihuahua just licked the fish then left it to melt, its been 2 weeks and my whole appartments starting to smell real fishy and i got a complaint from the neighbour, i dont like to waste food but im considering to just throw this fish away.

RSD4rkMayhem ... Chop the fish up with a meat cleaver while it's semi-frozen. Less mess because the juices wont spill everywhere in the semi-frozen state. I would only give your dog a few chunks per day along with whatever else you're feeding it. Or give her whole mini fish like sprats or small sardines. Remember to freeze it for long enough to kill any worms, etc. (And yes, two weeks is a long time for raw fish to be lying around your apartment 😂😂)

All I can say, is what an absolutely beautiful dog! I really enjoyed the video and will ask my breeder about some types of raw foods I can feed my puppy since Akitas are different from other breeds. Thank you so much for this wonderful and very informative video.

When you cook like steak or pork or any meat in the house are the dogs separated too or are they just fine together when cooking ?
I can eat and cook in front of my dogs. :-)
