Sono i Dire Straits Legacy a inaugurare la serata con uno dei loro pezzi più famosi: "Sultans of swing". La concept band vede riuniti per la prima volta sul palco Phil Palmer, Alan Clark, Mel Collins, Danny Cummings - ex componenti dei Dire Straits - con Steve Ferrone, Marco Caviglia, Primiano DiBiase. A guidare il gruppo rock lo straordinario chitarrista inglese Phil Palmer, già ospite di Webnotte nelle precedenti stagioni

I'd say that current (2019) Mark's performance of "Once upon.." alone is way better than a full concert of DSL
I loved the Dire Straits. I saw Mark Knopfler live at a small outdoor venue in Kettering, Ohio (The Fraze Pavilion). Man he put on a great show. The man can flat-out play the guitar. Best concert I've ever scene. These guys did okay, not great, but okay.
Nonostante la formazione comprenda Clark, Palmer e Ferrone... manca la materia prima. Come fare la pizza margherita con i migliori pomodori, la miglior mozzarella.. poi però ti manca la farina

this is more painful than The Grateful Dead without Garcia. Why?my wife picked up tickets to see DSL (not knowing any better) and I really don't want to go, but I cant hurt her feelings and I cant turn her down, so go I must. I'm not happy about it.I would rather go see the Austrailian Pink Floyd

How about that? Four band members who have formerly been in Dire Straits together on one stage plus legendary drummer Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers a.m.o.) and Trevor Horn on bass (!!!). Reading these names, I thought I would pay good money to see this show. Then I checked back with Chris White‘s Dire Straits Experience and, surprisingly, they actually sound much more authentic.

This performance completely lack of verve & rythm, they killed the "power" of the original one. It's slowed down, the singer and the guitar has no chance to be somehow near to Knopfler's performances. And the rest of the band is nothing. Please go back to school... I watched this video before deciding to buy or not the tickets for their concert here in Milan... the answer is definitely NOT.

@@taddarita75 fermo restando che a ognuno possono piacere o no, e questo non è opinabile, definire una band che si chiama "Dire Straits Legacy" (L'Eredità dei Dire Straits) e che vede sul palco anche proprio ex membri dei Dire Straits come "non è un tributo ai Dire Straits" mi pare quantomeno anomalo ;)
Avessero suonato qualcosa di "nuovo" magari con sonorità simili a quelle "originali", anche qui non sarebbe stato opinabile, de gustibus. Ma se suoni Sultand of Swing, perdio, ci devi mettere l'anima! ;)

dire straits was then and is now all about mark and his song's and these guy's are trying to make money of the back of this true genius , good musicians are 10 a penny but artists like mark knopfler are as rare as hen's teeth ! truly one of a kind ,......... leave it alone guys and do something other than try and copy mark ........... Ja vi cover mais massa
The original's vocals were almost straight talking... yet this dude sounds like he's bored, makes the entire song sound dull, just emotionless. The overall band doesn't sound like a professional band that does tours, they sound like some kind of wedding band that's "ok" but not "Professional OK" (with all respect to wedding bands) or those bands that just do some rythms during some segments on a host show. This sounds like they were practicing rather than performing.

Wow, I really respect those musicians...and I dont want to be mean... but to me they sound really lousy... they sound like a cover band that is just starting to play.... and the guitars... whats wrong with Phil Palmer??? He's such a great guitarist...but, at least in this video, he's playing terrible... and I dont like the guy who sings... hope they improve as a band---

Dire Straits Experience do basically the same thing but they have a much more cohesive sound altogether even if it‘s mostly non-former DS members playing (apart from Chris White on sax and sonetimes Chris Whitten on drums). Check out Terence Reis, he is just amazing.

Ainda mais que conta com 5 caras que fizeram parte do Dire Straits,
Allan Clark, Phil Palmer, Mell Colins, Danny Cummings, e Jack Sonni, se Mark não quis nem receber o Hall of The Fame, é coisa dele. Allan Clark estava lá, então meus amigos, estão nessa banda caras que gravaram Brother in Arms, e fizeram a tour.
Então, observem que não se trata de uma banda qualquer.

Sounds very much like a cover band. Which is basically what it is. Nowhere near as good. Remind me which members were in the actual Dire Straits again...Alan Clark on keyboards, that's basically it.

This is really dull and boring with no drive or energy at all. When I first heard Sultans on the radio in 1978 I had to stop the car to listen and I can listen to all studio or live recordings and love it as much now as then. But this just plain awful. Phil Palmer is one of my favourite musicians, but this just seems to drag him down to the level of a pub band guitarist and not even a particularly good one. Sorry guys - all this does it make you run back to the real Dire Straits stuff. This is not for me at all.

Sinceramente ho visto altri video di questo gruppo e direi che questa esibizione non fa giustizia. Voglio sperare e ne sono convinto che la band abbia ricevuto un'equalizzazione indecente che ha palesemente influenzato la performance, (e secondo me si sente in più riprese). Voce e chitarre con volumi bilanciati da horror.
Pianoforte alto, bisogna capire se per egocentrismo del tastierista o per ennesimo errore del fonico...personalmente penso più per la prima dato che dove dovrebbe lasciare spazio alle chitarre continua insopportabilmente a suonare su tutto (sinceramente capisco che sarai tra i membri originali dei Dire Straits caro Alan Clark e continuo a ritenerti un pianista di assoluto livello ma rispetta quello che suoni e chi suona insieme a te cazzarola).
Penso il secondo tastierista costretto da esigenze di palco a dover suonare un'insensata fisarmonica (che poi è veramente bravo assurdo che sia stato sacrificato così con uno strumento inesistente in questo pezzo).
Inutile attaccare il cantante: non è Knopfler, nessuno lo sarai mai, svolge ottimamente il suo lavoro e vorrei vedere chiunque al suo posto. Per me esibizione compromessa dal fonico e da alcuni piccoli errori individuali...ma non rende giustizia ne rappresenta la band per quello che realmente è.
Non canta come Mark, il che è impossibile. Quindi, meglio cantare sotto la doccia. E basta.
Se sono veramente " Legacy ", dovrebbero cercare di suonare i pezzi come in originale e non storpiarli. Il cantante non è Mark, quindi non imitarlo: È IMPOSSIBILE. Canta come puoi e soprattutto, non imitarne i movimenti, gesti, ecc.ecc. MEGLIO LASCIAR PERDERE, È PIÙ COSTRUTTIVO.

Mi dispiace ma è una roba imbarazzante. L'esecuzione musicale non mi è per nulla piaciuta, ma la voce rovina veramente tutto. Non so come mai, almeno guardando anche certe cover band italiane, sembra che cantare come Mark Knopfler voglia semplicemente dire cantare a voce bassa (di tonalità) o simile al parlato: ebbene non è così, e lo si sente bene in questa esibizione
