Thats not a saying, never was, and never will be. Metric bikes are throw away bikes. They dont need much maintenance because they dont last long enough to need any. Metrics you put 30k miles on it and throw it away and get a new one. Where with HD's they dont even need the top end serviced until 100k.
Hi! I own myself a Honda NC 750 X and I bought it brand new in 2019. The gear box got stucked at about 8500 km without any explanation. I also know that CB 500 x had some problems with the watter pump. So, I won't bet on Honda reliability anymore!
So I'm definitely an H-D guy, one of the ignorant ones who refuses to buy anything other than a harley, at that. I started out on a Rebel 300 and sold it within a couple months for a sportster 1200. With these new revolution max engines, I can 100% say I would go with the rebel 1100 over the new harleys. Why pay more for the same thing? The rebel even looks a little better in my opinion. Crazy that H-D can charge that much for a rebel rip-off.
I’m always happy to see a reformed Harley addict! 😂😂😂 But in all seriousness, I agree. In this case the Rebel is just hands down the better bike for the price. Hopefully as Harley does more with the Rev Max motors, they’ll be able to bring the price down a bit to be more competitive 🤞🏻
I’m absolutely right there with you. I’m on my second Harley right now, a ‘21 Low Rider S that I absolutely love. I started on my 2020 iron 883 and am always defending Harley’s honor among metric riders. That said, there’s no way I would pay $5k more for what is essentially a Harley rebel 975 when the original is readily available and so affordable. I wouldn’t pay $3k more. $2k…yes, yes I would. It’s still a Harley. But it’s too expensive for what you get. I’m not in the market for this kind of bike, but if I were, I’m getting a Honda rebel 11oo without question. I would need my head examined if I spent that much money on this bike when the very same thing is available somewhere else for thousands less. That’s just insanity.
@HahrtDood Yes, Indian dealership problems and availability are a huge turnoff for the brand. The FTR is definitely a bike I could get with! If Harley ever does release the Bronx, it will likely be so overpriced it might be laughable at this point? A 975, street fighter naked, making 100hp, with a full tech package and 38 degree lean angle…….MSRP $30,000, freight $1,000, surcharges $800, in black of course. $1400 more if you want a red one. Then a 1250 Bronx costing only $1k more!
@HahrtDood You are out of your goddamn mind, dude. Indians don't compare to Harley's at all. They're way overpriced for what you get, they perform about the same, their handling and comfort is about the same or just subjective. Their build quality is absolutely fucking garbage, especially compared to Harley. There are a lot of uninformed comments on this video. I'm not about to go over all of them...
They lowered the price and removed surcharges on Nightster. Now its $11,999 and the Special is $13,499 and has usb ports, cruise control, 5 modes, 5 inch risers, nicer wheels, heated grips, darker engine covers and the better speedo/gauge. I also think it has customizable modes too. So its significantly more appealing especially the Nightster Special!
In my case I had the opportunity to choose Honda Rebel 1100 and Harley-Davidson Nightster Special. For me this Harley is much better bike than the Rebel. I bought the Nightster last week and I’m very very happy. A huge from Spain 🇪🇸
Awesome review Birch. For people undecided on a bike, go with what you like. You want the nightster, get a nightster. You like the Rebel 1100, then get it. Just get out there, have fun, and ride safe.
In my first week with the Rebel 1100, coming from a CBR500. I went with the DCT and it’s certainly something to get used to. Already feel it’s hard to beat the value the 1100 gives you. A little more here in Canada, but still an awesome machine for the $. This new Nightster had me thinking before I pulled the trigger on the Honda, but the Wings won my $. Thanks for the review.
For that price it should have 10 more hp, dual front discs and higher spec suspension front and rear. As is, Harley should drop about 2k to be competitive. With Rebel 1100’s for less $ and Speed twins for the same $, it’s a hard sell imo. Solid review and a great comparison.
100% agree with this sentiment. It's a solid bike, but there are bikes that perform just as good, look just as good or better, and either cost less money or the same and are already established in the market. (speed twin, scout, rebel....) While I do like the new revolution motors (I had a pan am special briefly) I wish they would have kept the big boy in the small bike. (Now THAT would be a killer machine!)
I’m so glad to see someone finally comparing this new sportster to the actual bike it’s mostly comparable to….the Honda rebel 11oo. This just solidifies what I’ve been saying all along….This new Nightmare bike is way TOO expensive! The new Harley rebel 975 makes the same power, has less technology, less lean, and cost thousands more. Why? Because it’s a Harley? Not good enough. There’s no real justification for the exuberant price tag. I can’t tell you the amount of sh*t I’ve taken for complaining about the price when there are far more affordable options available from Japanese manufacturers. Anyway, finally a “voice of reason” among the fanboy reviews I’ve been seeing all over YT. I especially like when Harley flies TH-camrs around the country, pays their hotel, picks up the tab for everything, and gives them the Royal treatment, all for their “unbiased” reviews of their bikes. Excellent way to get a totally neutral opinion from someone.
I love this video. I already knew I was wanting to pay the Harley tax. Seeing a somebody who isn't a Harley fanboy enjoy this bike (especially for than the Sportster S) it made my choice easier. I'm glad I waited until this spring as Harley released the Nightster Special which was exactly what I wanted. It's last years Nightster but with the digital tft display (and fancy tech options that come with that) from the Sportster S but now on the Nightster. and while I know I paid more than what I should for this bike...I am absolutely loveing it so far! So thank you for this awesome review.
Another great video! I was left with no questions left unanswered, very informative. I do think it’s great that HD is doing some “new” and innovative things, such as moving the gas tank lower. I won’t be trading in my Rebel any time soon though.
Thanks Patrick!! And I agree 100%. While I LOVE the direction Harley’s been going lately, it’s just still not enough to get me away from my Rebel! 🤷🏼♂️
Been watching for awhile. I too have a Rebel 1100 (DCT though), and I love that we have similar tastes in bikes! When the Nightster came out, I instantly loved it. Only complaint is the smaller displacement compared to the S. Keep making the content man!
Yea dude these events are always so much fun!! I’m hoping to do a lot more of them. KTM did a demo day on a local go kart track (like the big, legit go kart tracks) and I was busy that day 😭😭😭 It looked so cool though!
@biblereader Harleys are extremely reliable. Anyone who says otherwise is telling you right off the fact they're just a hater. It's also true they use a much higher grade of materials, which is factored in to the MSRP (but you also see in the resale value down the line.) Put a Softail Standard next to something like a Fury and you'll see why the Standard is $2k more, everything is metal and everything on the Honda is thin plastic.
@@stevem4783 I’ve been cross shopping the rebel and the nightster and the plastic/metal argument is not true for this particular HD. Although HD may use higher quality materials on their more expensive bikes, HD uses a lot of plastic on the nightster. You’d think for the $4-5k price difference HD would use all premium materials, but they didn’t. th-cam.com/video/d_uoBd2QWpA/w-d-xo.html
I've ridden a 2021 rebel 500 for a year now. Yesterday was the first time I road a Harley when I went to a demo day. I tried out the Low Rider ST, Nightster, and a Fat bob. I was supper impressed with the ST & the NIghtster, and I think it would be a phenomenal bike for new riders to start with. But I agree the price for it is a little high compared to other bikes on the market.
But what happens when you try selling these bikes after a few years? Will the Honda depreciate more? Closing the gap on the $4400. Also. You gotta admit. The Honda looks like it should be $4400 cheaper. This is coming from a guy that owns 2 Honda’s and 1 Harley
@@Onewholovesrock The main question is will the Harleys even last that long 🤣🤣 Harleys after a few years go to the Trash Area. Hondas last for Generations. Find me a person that's willing to Buy a Trash second hand Harley. Are you trolling or serious? I can't understand how can you type that with a straight face. This Harley looks nothing more $4000 extra. Good luck finding customers for your years old Harley 💀 Harleys selling Yesterday's Technology for Tomorrow's Price 🤡🤡
Glad harley finally evolved the sportster. They (evo) always seemed top heavy top and always dragged pegs with little to no lean angle. With the tank under the seat I just want to call it a baby vrod though lol. What a great time we live in with the new sporty, rebel 1100 and all the new lightweight adv bikes!
It’s definitely awesome to see Harley progressing like this! It’s a great time in the land of new bikes for sure! So many great options coming out lately 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Harley didn't really have a choice. I'd like to think I am wrong, but I find it hard to believe that if the Evo motor was Euro 5 compliant, they wouldn't of done this.
Harley isn’t going to put anything on a bike they don’t have to, unless they can charge a small fortune for it. Just look at this one? They finally make a modern sportster, with 90hp, a few rider modes, and some very basic tech, and they price it like they’ve reinvented the motorcycle! Just $15,000 in grey or red if you can find a MSRP dealership? If not, well…..you know the game.
@biblereader Yes, the evo sportster is a classic, iconic, bike! You can customize it to the moon and back as well. I love those bikes! Simple, reliable, iconic, and they sound like a Harley! My iron 883 sounded so good it just made you cry tears of joy. As far as emissions….Harley could make them E-5 compliant if they wanted to, but they have this new engine and they are going forward with it. I don’t blame them for that at all. What I do blame them for is the outrageous prices they are coming up with! Even a new evo sportster which has been in production, as is, for decades, costs far more than it should. There’s just no excuse for a new iron 883 to cost $13-14k except corporate greed. Harley has become so greedy I’m afraid it’s going to be the death of them.
After Harley’a latest price increases the gal between those two bikes became huge (at least in Europe where I live). Harley is now of my list and my next bug will be the rebel!
Came here probably as most of the people, because of 1100 review, as a future biker wannabe. Stayed for the content that is so chill and extremely relaxing. I watched most of your videos in about a week while working, as I am dependant on additional sources of entertaiment while I code. I feel like playing the most realistic gta video game with great content and always waiting for the new part of the map to open up, while enjoying those I now know well :) :) Thanks for that, keep it up.
100% Rebel 1100 clone, especially the plastics panels in front of the "tank". But for the price and reliability, the Honda wins hands down all the time. HD is still, way to over priced.
Agreed all the way brotha! And that’s so crazy- I didn’t even notice those little plastics pieces, but they’re definitely VERY similar to what’s on the Rebel 1100! 😳👀
Yep I've been researching for the money the Rebal all day long I'm buying one at Christmas can't wait so much cheaper and yet such a fantastic bike. I took one out for a test ride the other day It was really light and felt amazing riding it
Bro! Found your videos researching the Rebel 500. Then I realized you were from Annapolis. I live in Frederick. Here I am...watching videos you created months ago and loving the content. Subscribed. Truly appreciate your videos.
I've noticed on a lot of these Nightster videos most of the criticism is addressed by the Nightster Special. I'm so glad I bought the Special over the standard. Its an awesome bike.
People from Harley Davidson are doing a very good job releasing new models. That means that they trust in their capacity of being able to conquer new markets. But they should also take a little bit more about selling process outside US in order to successfuly do this . I'm from Romania, a small European country (but not the smallest and a UE member). I've intended to purchase a Softail Standard (which supposed to be my first Harley) from Bucharest dealer but they didn't have it for a ride test. I asked for testing a Street Bob but I've faced the same result. More over I've been told that it takes 6 month for a Softal Standard to be delivered. So I gave up and I made an option for a Japanese motorcycle.
HD is out of their minds with their prices. In the last few years I, and seemingly a lot of others, have gotten more into cruisers, and every time I think “oh why don’t I have a cruiser?” I go to look at the prices and quickly remember why I’d rather have a Yamaha MT/XSR
Yeah the price vs known reliable/power to dollar ratios is massive. I can confidently say the MT09/XSR900 can walk a lot of bikes for such a cheap price under 100mph. Harley might be able to sell a "sport touring" strictly road version of pan am for the 15-20k.
I was waiting for this video. I wanted to hear about the Nightster from someone who owned a Rebel 1100....Thank you...great review and thanks for being so impartial and giving Harley credit when credit was due.
I'm so excited to get on my first bike, I got a 2022 MT03 last Saturday and my permit today, I feel like the ride home will be like you in this video... haha
At 1.5 times the price in Ireland, nope. Similar to USA. Great to see this Birch, was giving out last night about Harley screwing us over this side of the Atlantic, I was wrong. :) Only issue we have now with the Rebel 1100 is lack of supply, not even second hand.
Harley is definitely the Cadillac of bikes, but that Nightster is sick... but for that price you could get the Rebel 1100 and have extra for customization pieces to make it yours. Not bad pricing though, it's a steal compared to other Harley bikes... but best bang for the buck still goes to Honda. Great video, like always (so glad I found you from researching the Rebel) and look forward to seeing you rip your other bikes more. Stay safe and have fun.
I don't know why but it just looks goofy to me. Like it's still in concept and not finished being built or designed yet. It's symmetry is just all over the place. If a lot of the decisions were done for cost savings then I'm wondering what they cut to get it DOWN to almost $14k!
As a Harley rider I’ve come to find that on the “real Harley’s” if you have a heel shifter It’s significantly easier to find neutral then using the toe shift.
Regarding finding neutral on my 883, I always find it easier when I'm in traffic from a stop light. Does the nightster get affected by wind with how lights it is?
started watching u abt two weeks ago or so and dude my only complaint abt you is that u don’t post more. can’t get enough. just wanted to let you know your doing great
Sounds like it's designed after the V-Rod to be a baby version of it. Oh, damn, a Sportster with a gas gauge? That's cool. It's crazy to me that as much as you compare it, I've never seen a Rebel 1100. My area is mostly Harley, Indian, and Yamaha, not too many Hondas. I'm a big Harley lover, but I'm disabled and because of that, I found the Sportster S as too uncomfortable; I can't ride crotch rocket style bikes because of knee positioning.
The "bang for the buck" folks are always going to gravitate towards the Rebel 1100, but for some reason this crowd never factors in the terrible resale value of Japanese Cruisers. Most people finance, and the difference 4 grand makes is about $60 extra a month. Not a huge deal IMO. I'm pretty tall and the Nightster feels much more comfortable. And you better believe down the road there's going to be way more aftermarket parts for a Harley than there are for a Honda Rebel......Go HD go!
Still feels like they are dinosaurs by comparison to rest of the industry. Too little too late. Only thing that has keep them going is biker gangs and posers. I just can’t think of anything that would make me want to pay way to much for a bike with little to no tech, bad reliability, extremely heavy and horrible handling characteristics when there are so so many far superior choices on the market. But they’re finally trying to make an effort to get with the times.
I haven’t, but it’s funny you say that- I’ve been SUPER drawn to the CB500X/NC750X type styling lately! Definitely hoping to get my hands on one (or both) for a test ride! 🤞🏻
I started on a 09 rebel 250 1st year 10,000 miles best bike I loved it but I was teased it’s slow so I went to a vstar 650 and I would love to get a new rebel 1100 your videos make me want one even more
My problem is I love all motorcycles… In Canada Honda jacked the price of the Rebel 1100… the nightster is more expensive, true… but you’re not limited to top speed (if that matters to you) and you bet the aftermarket support will be hands down much larger to this. Fuel economy is neck and neck. Based on data it shows you get more mileage per dollar on this. Oh and as for tech… hydraulic valve lash… that’s worth a ton by itself. Great video Mike. Keep up the amazing work!!
In Calgary, Calgary HD is trying to sell Iron 883's for 18k+. So it's not just Honda raising prices. I have a feeling the price tag Canadian HD dealers will put on this bike will be well north of 22k.
Thanks dude!! Yea the aftermarket support for this is sure to be WAY more than the Rebel, but after you spend that extra $4,400-$4,800 on the bike, how much do you really have left for mods anyway?! 😂 And I’m in the works for a top speed solution for the Rebel 1100 right now sooo 👀👀👀
@@LARGO125 I hear you. I was extremely pissed with Honda Canada when the 1100 first showed up. The price was a few thousand more then the US market (after conversion… for no reason. And now it’s climbed since. As for Harley and the 883… that one’s sticking around for some time. Adding a little more and the nightster is a most better option then the 883.
I can't believe the difference between the Nightster and the Sportster S. I absolutely loved the Sporster S - thoroughly modern hooligan bike that felt substantial and still nimble (and very quick); exactly what I'd expect from a modern, performance-oriented Harley. The Nightster, by comparison, felt kind of flimsy...nowhere near as substantial...definitely not worth $14K. I was really surprised after my test ride when I climbed back on my 04 Shadow 750 Aero and I realized I genuinely preferred my Shadow to the Nightster.
For only maybe $2000 more you can get a Softail Standard with the 107 M8 engine and way better mono-shock suspension. Sure, it's 150 lbs heavier, but a super nice ride and a more traditional look, feel, and sound. Nightster is a cool carver I guess but the Softail line of bikes are more comfortable and practical for everyday use. Maybe I'm biased from my age but I ride my '09 Sportster 1200 Custom every day that's not raining and I'm perfectly happy with my chromed out EVO. If the Nightster can go 0 to 60 twice as fast as me, ask me if I care.
Lol, yes! Finally someone else puts this out there... why does Harley insist on hiding N and at the same time make their clutch so hard to hold? It's in the top 3 of why I bought and have owned 3 Indian bikes in spite of my intention to but an HD
Harley-Davidson sells the Reach Handlebar which has a shape designed to place the handlebars closer to the rider and puts the rider in an upright seating position for added comfort and control.
I bought a new Nightster S a few months ago, wanted to go metric and save $3000, but they were all too cramped for me, the Nightster is an absolutely perfect fit. So far it pops a taillight code, and froze the screen once, but they fixed the battery drain issues. Slip on pipe, it sounds snarly as hell, not "Real Harley" but I didn't want that anyway! If you can fit on a Honda, get the Honda.
Hi ! Could you do a video explaining the first few steps and give us advice how to ride a bike ? I’m starting my riding lessons in a month and would love some beginner advice ! Thank you for your video loved it 😍
I test rode the rebel 1100 and really liked it. However I can see how it would likely feel cramped for a long day ride. There's a used 2023 hd nightster special near me for $11k with less than 1k miles. I might buy that instead of a Rebel.
So, I just passed my MSF. I have heard the 100 can be kept in rain mode for beginners. I am over 6 Ft so the Rebel 500 might be small for me over the next year while I get better at riding. Thoughts?
It’s something that Harley Davidson puts on! They have this giant truck that they load up with EVERY bike model in their current line up, and they go from dealer to dealer doing demo days! I’d say check with your local HD dealer to see if/when they plan on doing one, cause even this one wasn’t super well advertised by my dealer. It’s usually an all weekend event, and on Saturday and Sunday they bring out food trucks and live music too 🤘🏻
Looks great and sounds like a worthy bike from your initial impressions. I just can't get over the "Bar & Shield Tax". Harley makes a good bike, but I cannot fathom how they justify their price tag with "Heritage" and "Made in America".
Big step up for Harley... still not quite as good as the Rebel. I think they cut a lot of the Harley quality type things out though with all the plastic, where Harley used to have so much metal parts. They went a lot cheaper on the quality on this, but the price tag is still pretty high.
A lot of manufacturers switched to plastic fairings and parts because they reduce weight, not just because they are "cheap." When you start getting into these types of bikes that are modern "muscle cruisers" or "roadsters", it basically becomes a power to weight ratio game from an engineering standpoint. Steel (especially steels resistant to corrosion with chrome moly) are both pricey AND heavy. Even mild carbon steel is pricey to due various issues currently, and much of it is lower quality than it used to be years ago due to regulation and recycling. Aluminum is cheap and plentiful (just more difficult to fabricate with on a large scale, requiring special welding procedures and abrasive materials), and "plastic" is super light and easy to manufacture and fabricate. About the only other way to make the bike lighter is by using something like Titanium Alloys (very pricey and VERY difficult to fabricate with, and quite often too rigid for stress absorption), or carbon fiber (also very very expensive.) I'd also point out that none of these previously mentioned materials are subject to rust and don't need to be zinc plated.
Great review man! Been thinking about picking up a Rebel after I sell my Triumph bobber black! Super curious about something though. Does your Burly Brand sissy bar work with the factory saddlebag mounts? I'd love to have both attached but would worry about clearance/space.
Thanks dude!! As far as I know, the Burly sissy bar (and most other aftermarket sissy bars) won’t work with the factory saddlebag mounts. I haven’t tested it, but I think that’s why the stock back rest is totally flat where it meets the fender- so that the saddlebag mounts, rear rack, etc. can sit flush to it and not stick out super far. I’ve never seen the stock saddlebags in person so they *might* work and just stick out a bit further, but I can’t say for sure.
Were all biased to some extent and I can definitely see that in your review lol. I've also ridden all 3. Personally I don't like the rebel 1100 that much. Yes it's the cheapest, but the motor feels choppy , foot pegs too high, and looks bare bones to me. It does have tech which is nice and the price is low but you get what you pay for imo. The nightster on the other hand is a solid bike. The revolution max engine is smooth and predictable and is alot of fun. The bike looks really good. My only complaint is it feels kinda small, but what can you expect from an entry level bike.also the airbox intake noise sounds awesome (it growls lol) At last but not least is the sportster s. Now I may be biased as well because I own the sportster s but I absolutely love the bike. For $2k more then the nightser you get all the tech, gobs of power, and is by far the best motor. My buddy has a rebel 1100, we raced and I gapped him by about 6 car lengths in the 1/4 mile. I will agree with you on the suspension tho. The rear shock travel is too short. Your spine will take a beating on bad roads. I tried adjusting it and it helps but still not good. Overall that's the order I would go. If your gonna go rebel just stick with the 500 that's a good little bike.
Yes that Rebel 500 is nice and the engine is good. But the 1100 is just a better package and I like the power, the 471 is small when you go back to it after the 1100.
Ive had haley people call me cheap because I would rather have the rebel than the nighter based on price alone. Like stats wise I'm not seeing how that harley badge is worth another 4k because in my opinion no brand name alone is worth it if the bike doesnt offer more. I'm glad its a good bike. More good bikes and Harley actually not charging an arm and a leg is nice, but I think the company as a whole needs to address their pricing model to attract new riders.
Amenities on the Rebel 1100 at 4 grand cheaper? I love my Rebel 1100. I was trying to decide on the Indian Scout Rogue Sixty and Rebel 1100 and I went with the Honda. It's so much more fun than my old Boulevard M50. I'm super happy.
I love me a sports bike but I don't know I feel like all have a soft spot for a rebel like bike. I think I'll give it a few years before I leave the sport bike life lol.
One thing people don’t understand - Harley maintains their value very well. Buy a Honda and watch the resale drop like a rock. I can sell both my two year old Harley’s for what I paid for them.
Just out of curiosity, how tall are you? I’m 6’0” and I’m trying to get an idea on how my size will compare to being comfortable on the rebel 1100. Thanks!
I appreciate that HD is finally trying to compete with other manufacturers in a meaningful way. However they lost the classic Harley look and sound with that new engine which was the main reason to buy one. If you're going to dump your major selling point they need to drop the price tag to actually compete. I won't pay 3k-4k for a HD badge when Honda has a proven history of reliability.
I think that if you were already a Harley fan, this is great for you. If you are like the rest of us, this has done nothing to persuade us otherwise. The Pan-America was a huge step forward. This is half a step back.
I kinda dig the nightster torn between the 1100 and the nightster.....getting off the bike to fuel it kind of kills it for me, plus the price point, and features!
@@LifeOfBurch it's a bike to add to the garage if you just have F you money for the fun factor but not very practical at the price point! There are so many other bikes from cruiser to Supersport that you can get at that price point it's just not worth it!
Honestly I think the problem with the Sportster S is Harley should've let it be a full sports bike, but they had to make it some weird combination of cruiser and sport bike. Yes you can get mids on it, but that's a upcharge lol.
Something to keep in mind is that the Harleys hold value extraordinarily well. So why you pay more put the gate you can then sell it for a lot more down the road. Just something to note. Cool vid
Dangiit Burch now you making me want to trade in my 500 for a nightster now. (sigh) the peppy and better rear suspension sounds really good for a trade up.
I wondered why Harley has a surcharge (which I assumed is for grossly inflated shipping costs due to the pandemic and fuel costs) when their bikes are made in the US. Well, they're assembled in the US. Parts come from all over the place.
After riding both of the new Sportsters I'm not a fan of either one. I couldn't see spending $15k for either of them, that said having ridden the Rebel 1100 a bit I'm not a huge fan of it either. For what it's worth I currently have an 11' Sportster 48 and a 16' Softail Slim S, both bikes I love. My main issues with the Rebel are as a taller person the ride position sucks, options for forward controls are limited and expensive thanks to the bikes design. I'm also not the type of person to leave a bike stock and all 3 have limited options for customization to them. I'm not really the target market for the Rebel though in that I like to customize a lot on my bikes, I do have concerns with where H-D is going with the new Sportster platform as that's pretty limiting as well and customization is a common thing in their riders.
As the saying goes, with Harley you pay for heritage, with metric you pay for reliability.
Well said! 🤘🏻
Thats not a saying, never was, and never will be. Metric bikes are throw away bikes. They dont need much maintenance because they dont last long enough to need any. Metrics you put 30k miles on it and throw it away and get a new one. Where with HD's they dont even need the top end serviced until 100k.
@@nallen1006 hahahahahahhaa ah man, a good education makes a difference. Cry on your Harley buddy. Talk to the adults when you learn about bikes.
That's an idea not a fact and I've owned both.
@biblereader Buying a bike based off what it sounds like. Fudd logic.
I never liked Harley. That being said, I bought this new nightster last weekend. I'm 200 miles in and LOVING it.
Did you change your exhaust ?
bought the denim black nightster special. its incredible
Its STUPID expensive. Harley only makes good bikes over $20 k now
Here in Europe the HD Nightster costs 16,250€ while the Rebel 1100 (manual) costs 10,450€. It will be a really easy decision for me…😂
Oh wow! Yea, Harley made that decision REAL easy for you! 😳😂😂😂
So we’re gonna ignore all that and go right to sport mode - classic
You know what I’m here for!! 😎🤘🏻😂
Hooligan time!
These bike try outs are such a cool way to bring new people to the channel ! :)
And the bike looks awesome
Yea dude these events are always so much fun!! I’m hoping to do a lot more of them. KTM did a demo day on a local go kart track (like the big, legit go kart tracks) and I was busy that day 😭😭😭 It looked so cool though!
@@LifeOfBurch I got invited to the Ducati track days, can't waaaaaiiit. Motorcycle license exam in 2 weeks haha
this was the review I was waiting for because you have the experience with the rebel 1100. Thanks Burch
Thanks dude! Happy to help!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I'd rather ride the honda WAY cheaper
Yea for the price of the Nightster you could get a Rebel 1100 AND a Grom! I may be biased, but that sounds like way more fun! 😎🤘🏻
The phony gas filler circle on the gas tank is a real bummer.
Damn I didn’t even think about that! 😂😂😂
They're a phony! A big, fat phony! 😆
Yeah. Would have been better if they just made it smooth. Why fake it?
Just a guess but it’s probably a mold at the factory and they were to cheap to make a new one lmao
I know right. Surely getting rid of the circle and just having the logo (maybe with some kind of design or colours) would be miles better
Great comparison video. I would choose Rebel 1100 manual over the nightster. 4400 more for the Harley tag is too much.
Thanks Sean!! Agreed!
But what happens when you try selling these bikes after a few years? Will the Honda depreciate more? Closing the gap on the $4400. Also. You gotta admit. The Honda looks like it should be $4400 cheaper. This is coming from a guy that owns 2 Honda’s and 1 Harley
I understand that. I mean, that’s a Rebel 300 on top of the Rebel 1100. Might as well get your girl a bike at this price.
@@Onewholovesrock The main question is will the Harleys even last that long 🤣🤣
Harleys after a few years go to the Trash Area.
Hondas last for Generations. Find me a person that's willing to Buy a Trash second hand Harley.
Are you trolling or serious?
I can't understand how can you type that with a straight face.
This Harley looks nothing more $4000 extra. Good luck finding customers for your years old Harley 💀
Harleys selling Yesterday's Technology for Tomorrow's Price 🤡🤡
Just went to my dealer and got a 2022 with 610 miles on it for $7999, so at that price, I jumped on it. Great review!
@biblereader it's only European emissions it won't pass now. But Id imagine it won't be long till they try tondo the same things here in the states.
I feel like playing the most realistic gta video game with great content and always waiting for the new part of the map to open up, while enjoying those I now know well :) :) Thanks for that, keep it up.
love the reviews you do! feels more natural and not forced keep it up!
5 seconds into pulling out and I realize you’re in my old neighborhood! That’s sick dude
Silly money for the Harley in UK way too expensive 👎
Yep I've been researching for the money the Rebal all day long I'm buying one at Christmas can't wait so much cheaper and yet such a fantastic bike. I took one out for a test ride the other day It was really light and felt amazing riding it
Bro! Found your videos researching the Rebel 500. Then I realized you were from Annapolis. I live in Frederick. Here I am...watching videos you created months ago and loving the content. Subscribed. Truly appreciate your videos.
Dude, no way! I was in Frederick this past weekend! I have friends who live up there. I appreciate the support brotha 😎🤘🏻
Ahhhh good ol Harley.
Yesterdays technology for tomorrows prices.
Gotta love em 😉
😂😂😂
You should totally do a video on what type of gear you use, and your setup on the helmet- how you use your gopro with the communications
I was waiting for this video. I wanted to hear about the Nightster from someone who owned a Rebel 1100....Thank you...great review and thanks for being so impartial and giving Harley credit when credit was due.
Thanks Paul!! Happy to help, plus I had a blast! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I took my MSF there and wanted to get to the demo day. Super bummed a missed it. Great video birch!
I really wanna build a Harley up so can't wait for after-market on this bike, but I 100% agree the price is a killer for it compared to the rebel.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who likes the Nightster more than the S. I also like that the nightster has a spot for a pillion seat.
started watching u abt two weeks ago or so and dude my only complaint abt you is that u don’t post more. can’t get enough. just wanted to let you know your doing great
I love bar end mirrors on a cruiser, but not when they make the bike a foot wider 😬 No chance of filtering (lane splitting) there!
And let’s be real metric cruisers are ugly as sin. I love and ride a sport bike from one of the big 4, but I’m getting a Harley this summer.
Great video. Glad to see Harley recognizing the new age of bikes and embracing it.
Thanks dude! And yea 100%!! For a company that’s been so “stuck in the Stone Age”, it’s really really cool to see them evolving like this finally! 🤘🏻
Have you done a comparison between the 1100 and NC750x?
I haven’t, but it’s funny you say that- I’ve been SUPER drawn to the CB500X/NC750X type styling lately! Definitely hoping to get my hands on one (or both) for a test ride! 🤞🏻
@@LifeOfBurch ya! Compare the 2.
I started on a 09 rebel 250 1st year 10,000 miles best bike I loved it but I was teased it’s slow so I went to a vstar 650 and I would love to get a new rebel 1100 your videos make me want one even more
That’s what I like about your reviews it the feel of the bike.
Gotta try the Nightster special. Just picked it up. So sweet.
My problem is I love all motorcycles…
In Canada Honda jacked the price of the Rebel 1100… the nightster is more expensive, true… but you’re not limited to top speed (if that matters to you) and you bet the aftermarket support will be hands down much larger to this.
@@LifeOfBurch fair point. up to the rider I guess. Definitely on the list of possible upgrades.
Ypu tested the base model. The nightster Special has cruise and programmable ride modes and quite a few other features
Loved the in-depth “feels-like” analysis! Great video ✅
I've heard a lot that the nightster is more fun,and just more responsive than the sportster s. Nice review man.
Hi ! Could you do a video explaining the first few steps and give us advice how to ride a bike ? I’m starting my riding lessons in a month and would love some beginner advice ! Thank you for your video loved it 😍
Love to see a new Nightster 975 vs. Iron 1200 comparison vid.
Excellent review!!
Thanks Dave!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
What do you think about the Indian Rogue? I just went from a Honda 300 to the India. Rogue 1200
I test rode the rebel 1100 and really liked it. However I can see how it would likely feel cramped for a long day ride. There's a used 2023 hd nightster special near me for $11k with less than 1k miles. I might buy that instead of a Rebel.
Indian Scout Bobber, Add it to your list to try. You will love it!
Just test road this bike and wow..
Enjoyed the transmission light and quick
So, I just passed my MSF. I have heard the 100 can be kept in rain mode for beginners. I am over 6 Ft so the Rebel 500 might be small for me over the next year while I get better at riding. Thoughts?
Want to see a review on Fat Bob, still deciding on first bike. I weight 300 lb, rode a scout, warrior, and rebel.
Thats Harley Davidson of Baltimore! I got my license there, great place with great people
It’s more fun because it’s more comfortable
How do u go on group test rides like that? Do u have to sign up somewhere?
It’s something that Harley Davidson puts on! They have this giant truck that they load up with EVERY bike model in their current line up, and they go from dealer to dealer doing demo days! I’d say check with your local HD dealer to see if/when they plan on doing one, cause even this one wasn’t super well advertised by my dealer. It’s usually an all weekend event, and on Saturday and Sunday they bring out food trucks and live music too 🤘🏻
Check with your dealership event calendar. Its actually called Demo Days.
About the only other way to make the bike lighter is by using something like Titanium Alloys (very pricey and VERY difficult to fabricate with, and quite often too rigid for stress absorption), or carbon fiber (also very very expensive.) I'd also point out that none of these previously mentioned materials are subject to rust and don't need to be zinc plated.
thanks for the video and time sharing the experience
This makes me want to do a demo day! Looks awesome. Great review man
It’s not the Sportster S fault you wasn’t in “Rain Mode” like the Instructor said to start off😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Thanks!
Awesome video and review, the insight was great!
Thanks Jesse! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I appreciate that HD is finally trying to compete with other manufacturers in a meaningful way. However they lost the classic Harley look and sound with that new engine which was the main reason to buy one. If you're going to dump your major selling point they need to drop the price tag to actually compete. I won't pay 3k-4k for a HD badge when Honda has a proven history of reliability.
they still have the 883 and 48
I can't find a Manual Rebel 1100 anywhere... (I'm in Minnesota) Plenty of DCTs showing up though...
I think that if you were already a Harley fan, this is great for you. If you are like the rest of us, this has done nothing to persuade us otherwise. The Pan-America was a huge step forward. This is half a step back.
As a Harley guy - I agree with you.
I kinda dig the nightster torn between the 1100 and the nightster.....getting off the bike to fuel it kind of kills it for me, plus the price point, and features!
Yea dude the price and lack of features definitely kill it for me 😔 it’s a shame cause it was such a fun bike!
How is it over sharp bumps?
I remember seeing pictures of this in the first thing I thought was this thing was just the expensive rebel 1100.
I have the honda 1100 DCT, HD should had made the nightster Auto option as well. Definitely would had been a huge seller over Honda
Something to keep in mind is that the Harleys hold value extraordinarily well. So why you pay more put the gate you can then sell it for a lot more down the road. Just something to note. Cool vid
Umm, and Hondas don't hold their value??? lol
@@johnwicks4936 not as well no
@@danielbouchie6397 Ummm do Harleys even last as long as a Honda??
It's just nothing phenomenal, Harleys are Trash
@@johnwicks4936 He is delusional
Traditional Harleys do. Not sure the Nightster will.
Btw great edits and the intro is really well cut
Dopey name, seeing how there used to be a cool Sportster Nightster.
