Had one of those! Lusted after 'em in my teen years because of that very distinctive 305 exhaust sound - you could hear them of Main Street at night. The forward travel kick starter too - nostalgia!

Really nice looking bike. I loved the 305 Superhawk. Neighbor had one back in your teens. We trashed that bike within an inch of its life. Two up and we pegged it to an indicated 100 mph.

Ive never seen a forward kickstarter. My cousins dad was crippled on one of these in the 70s.

That was the unique thing with the 305 Superhawk was the forward kick start. This bike has 305 Scrambler handlebars and different mufflers I believe.

My cousin actually took the 305 engine out of that cop bike and made a custom ridged frame chopper out of it. Home made springer front end, Harley back wheel. It was really cool back in the day.

Oh my, nice job. I’ve had bikes my whole life and my first motorcycle was a 1964 Superhawk. Fun to walk down memory lane amigo. Thanks.
My cousin had one too and it was the Police model. Imagine a cop riding a 305. Lol. True story!

I love it. We had a 305 just like yours when I a little boy. It was the first motorcycle I rode on and later drive myself. I liked all the odd unique things about it. Ours was black and chrome. What a fantastic old bike!

I bought exact red bike from a co worker in 1968 for $250.00
i cut the front fender back like yours plus I had it and the side covers chrome plated.
I also installed mufflers from a CB 400.............Mine had an elec. starter ??
Traded it in 1970 for a Suzuki Titan 500 2 stroke . That was a mistake, really missed the sound of that 305 !

My Dad had this exact bike in '66 time frame, just before I was legal driving age. My Mom made him sell it so it wouldn't be there for me. Dad had dumped it twice at stop signs while taking off. Drinking involved, and he wasn't that good a m/c rider!! Good for him, but I was rooked out of a nice ride! I did wind up with a Yamaha 125 Enduro. Do you still have the 'Hawk? What do you value it at?
Nice job on the restoration! What else do you ride? I'm on a 2012 FLHTCU currently.

Nice bike. Are those Gran Turismo grips on it? They were some of the best hand grips ever made. I always loved them and still have a pair on my 1982 Honda GL500.

Glad you replaced those stubby bars that came on the one I had.
Just like '65, no safety gear, no worries, vibrated like hell but was a fun bike for the time.

I REPLACED MY EXHAUST PIPES WITH MEGAPHONES........THIS MACHINE RAN STRONG ....HAD A WONDERFUL SOUND. I HAD TO REPLACE A PISTON DUE TO TACHING IT OUT TO 90 MPH FOR TOO LONG. I SOLD THE BIKE AND ENLISTED IN THE ARMY. WHEN I EVENTUALLY RETURNED I PURCHASE A HONDA 450 SCRAMBLER $950.00.

brother-in-law got a 305 scambler new when it first came out,i was in 6th grade? he was over 6 foot, it just wasnt enough power to haul his big butt around,he traded it in on a new Triumph Bonnieville 650

In high school I rode mine to football practice and I was 6ft 3inches and 220. My Super hawk would run 105 miles an hour. I made dating money running against stock 283 Chevys on our back roads quarter mile. When I return from S.E. Asia I bought my first Harley. Maybe small for a fat ass but it was too fast for a high school boy. It changed my life.

David Calvert ...fast? about the same as a Harley 883, which everyone says is slow?Fast for it's size? I had one, not too quick, but would top out at about 105 mph, if I had room to let it wind out.

I HAD THE SAME BIKE IN HIGH SCHOOL, SAME COLOR, WISH I HAD KEPT IT NOW! I NOTICE YOU HAVE THE SCRAMBLER BARS ON IT, I LIKE THEM BETTER THAN THE FLAT ORIGINAL ONES THAT WERE ON MINE. I SEE YOU HAVE MEGAPHONE EXHAUST PIPES, THEY LOOK BETTER THAN THE FACTORY STYLE. HOW MUCH FOR THE BIKE? DO YOU LIVE IN CALIF.? IS THE PAINT ORIGINAL?
