Agreed. Default aircraft have come a long long way and are actually usable in a sort-of-realistic manner nowadays.
Most towbars I’ve seen used on the 787 are universal that can also be used on A330 / A340 / A350 / B767 / B777. Interestingly the challenger 280 tow truck modeled in GSX is also certified for the 787 so it’s actually quite realistic.

1:30 Small note : the Hybrid system will keep many measure in imperials (speed, altitude, etc), but switch some units such as weight to kilograms

The default sound is unfortunatly very bad.... Do you use a sound pack? Sounds so great.

Really happy with AAU2 . Both the 787 and 747 are a joy to fly... Close as you will get to study level, I have taken a couple of long flights (VHHH- YMML ) and the 787 works perfectly.. All I wish for is a load manager and SimBrief integration.
Aerosoft's Bali and many Indonesian airports are broken because of the latest World Update. They grow bushes, trees in the apron.
and unfortunately Aerosoft rarely update their sceneries

Love it. But sadly on long haul flights I’ve been getting some CTDs after ~9 hours. Crash logs give you last lat/long so it’s possible to recover (respawn and slew to the right altitude then active pause and set remaining fuel per flight plan and payload and re-enter remaining route).
Today I even got a CTD about 2 hours in. That one was surprising.
On short haul flights with PMSG 737 and FBW A320 I haven’t had any CTDs.
I’m still kind of disappointed, haven’t flown it yet but I noticed that asobo did not fix the exterior lights. The beacon and strobes don’t flash like the real 787
There is a mod for the lights, i can not fly with the generic lights without getting eye cancer
The Working Title team is focused on improving avionics. They don't have any modelers, so they can't make any changes to the aircraft like that.

With most, if not all of the general aviation aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 already at an excellent level, it's just a question of polishing them a bit more and finishing the last airliner, the A320. Although there are already two excellent options for this Airbus aircraft, a default option with a similar level of quality to the 747-8 and the 787-10 us now what the community deserves.

Been flying for a bit now that its released. Flight model feels a bit goofy especially landing. FMC and cockpit pretty good!
PM usually has ENG instruments on their ND, with secondary hidden.
The bar is pretty standard as bars go. Some are fixed head designs while there are bars out there that will cover 787 and 777 the roller pin on the front of the nose gear is essentially the same size. There are some instances for example where in a 737 bar and an A320 would be interchangeable. depends on size of that Roller pin and the capture cradle that it ( the roller Pin)locks onto. Same for A330 or 767. I've used them on both...
The reason you don't get a 'approaching minimums' call is because of the sound pack. Using default sounds it works.
I think that alarm goes off when at flaps 5 or more and gear is up, as reminder to put gear down. Seems to be an FTSim+ thing
The screen where the chrono is (left at the captains side, should be on the right at the first officers side, but it is duplicated, shame they didn't fix that in beta testing
This is presently intentional. The two PFDs are duplicates for performance reasons. We may offer an enhancement pack in the future to users who wish to add the option of splitting them.
@@mattnischan582 I would hugely appreciate this, and I guess a lot of other people, too. I only fly from the right hand side and the pfd makes this currently feel weird.

Thanks again for your insightful videos! Last night I did a "short" 787 flight in the sim from ORD to DFW, about 700 nm, and the plane is now such a joy to fly. Like you, I noticed that the climb rate was pretty steep upon takeoff and flying vnav to my first waypoint. I did have to use speedbrakes several times on my descent to make speed restrictions. I attempted a "practice autoland" and noticed that the plane floated quite a bit on flare.
I experimented with the TOPER app to get a takeoff calculation, but it seems that the TOPER software wants to stick with a flaps 15 departure; wonder if there is a better way to figure derate/assumed temp unless I should just select a standard derate. On another side note I found it funny that GSX for the default DFW airport only gave me one "suitable" gate for a 787.

Wait - so you captured the glide path by pressing APPROACH button when the crystal glider was in the middle of the side of the screen (sorry I am not familiar with terms hope you understand) because when I pressed it it didn't capture and I was at the right altitude in the penultimate way point before the runway.............there needs to be more tutorials in future so it is clear when to press APPROACH button.
the AAU2 update is a pain in my opinion because before the update i used to have no trouble with climbing and descending while the plane was on autopilot, but after this AAU2 update it kept coming up with invalid entry...

Aren't the default sounds on the 787 also reworked? I read that they updated the soundscape for it
I suspect this "news" may not be received well by some. So I won't say much.
My complaint with XP12 is the scenery and visuals. The default airports are good but the rest, not so good. The strong point of course is the better flight model, imparting somewhat more dynamic control response with auto pilots off. Most who argue this point haven't flown both sims or a real airplane.
Now, there is a "blend" and I haven't tried it, but I might. Someone has created a "bridge" between the 2 sims. What this enables is the XP aircraft and presumably the XP flight model combined with the beautiful MFS2020 scenery. The "best of both worlds". You pretty much have to own both sims, as I do.
I am not endorsing it for heaven's sake! I'm just saying, ha, it's out here to try out. Here is the link to the TH-cam video. I'm not a computer guy or a gamer. I am just an old pilot who wants the best sim in all facets.

After the AAU update , I started the 787, and the two inside monitors are powered off. No idea how to turn them on
So you can't select Departure and Arrival in the menu nymore?, the flight plan always stops before the arrival airport.

My ext pwr switches don't do anything (on the heavy division 787) they just Stay on AVAIL. Seems this release was buggy.
Where do I get the AAU2 version of this aircraft? I have been on the Heavy division website but can't see the AAU2 version
Heavy Division has nothing to do with AAU2, it was done by Working Title on behalf of Asobo (who is the developer of the game)...so you should have had to download a required update to the game on June 23, which would give you the release version of AAU2. Enjoy the enhancements to the 747 and 787!

It's not working. I'm usign an G56, both Toggle or hold doesnt work well.. sometimes even it only activate reverse on number engine.

Thanks for the video. Now can fly B787 properly. One quick question. Why is my plane swerving left and right uncontrollably after landing? I have auto rudder off, and dead zone on my logitech rudder is set to 10.
I never saw that happen on my system, it was always well controllable. MSFS can be a bit over-reactive at times, but it was never uncontrollable here.

Can anyone help me with the NAV resource setting and selection? Would simply like the points from the FMS automatically fly off with AP. However, the default nav source in cold and dark is apparently now always VOR 1 and no longer FMS or GPS. How can I change this again?

I’ve submitted a support ticket to their zendesk as the drop in FPS is so bad on Xbox that it’s not really flyable, especially on landing. So disappointed that they didn’t correct this for final release, and considering it’s technically a paid add-on via the premium/deluxe version of the sim I expected way better.
I also have the PMDG B738, and even with all the additional features built in there is barely a stutter - and I often fly both JFK and Paris CDG, 2 bespoke airports that always fail to perform on Xbox. I’m waiting for a reply from Asobo/MS, but I dare say they’ll give me the usual fluff and say to uninstall and reinstall the entire platform - that’s not a workaround, that’s just going to delay my response back to them for a day or two.

It seems with A/T and AP engaged and TOGA active you can still retard the throttles during climb out, which is a bit odd?
Just like in real life. The AT holds the thrust levers in place with magnets. The pilot can override them at any time.
@@A330Driver thanks. yeah obviously the home throttles don't have the servos, Funny though, PMDG throttle stays in and I can back them down (mainly done later to align at about 50% for the A/T disconnect)

I use Xbox Series X for flying by Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner. I'm still not be able to adjust altimeter-it's stuck after first changing. Does anybody meet this altimeter behaviour?
Unfortunately I don't have an xbox, what I can say though is that I never has such behavior on PC.

The soundscape was redone as part of AAU2, so what you hear is the default sound for 787, and obviously the 747 was reworked as well.
Is this the heavy division mod?
delete the heavy in the community folder then the flight sim makes the new 787 available

I wish i could uninstall it. Terrible performance. The 787 literally froze my sim and I'm using a 5800x3D which is no slouch.

Hi, it's been a while since I bought it, but I believe it's the only payware available for WSSS. A quick Google search should find it. I'm sitting in the hotel right now so I can't look it up, but I believe the developers are called cloudsurfasia Simulations or similar.
