Greatest character development ever
His arc starts with 4, ends with 4.
His involvement in X1-3 is more of a mentor role than a main protagonist while X4 made him a main protagonist while X is more of his sidekick than a main protagonist.
X4-5 duology is actually Zero's own story arc while his arc after 5 is more of a bad take from Capcom without blessing from the series creator himself.
Z1-3 trilogy is to tied loose ends with X as the arc from that trilogy is a story between Zero and X after the bloody elf war, Z4 however is Zero story alone as there are no more X and Zero himself has to settle the score with Weil.
Sad fact: When Ciel says"....Zero...I believe in you!" She wanted to say "I love you!" But she was too embarrassed and this can kind of prove it

Though, it's still unknown if Ciel actually had Romantic feelings for Zero Or her love was like a Daughter's love for her Father.
@@mohdadeeb1829 I believe Ciel slowly developed feeling for Zero deep inside but this romance never got to actually flourish because Zero sacrificed himself.
Zero had quite a journey in life. He had to doubt who he was and what he was fighting for. Was he meant to be killing machine, a spread of a disease that caused war like Wily intended him to be? Why did he even fight in the first place if it meant he couldn't stop his loved ones from dying?
Zero 4's climactic ending is just made all the more satisfying yet melancholy from this song as he finally came to terms with these questions. He had a purpose for fighting. Even if he can't save everyone, whether he is labeled as THE Zero, a hero, a maverick, or whatever, he doesn't care. "I have always only ever fought for those I believe in. I won't hesitate. If an enemy appears before me, I WILL destroy it." Sheesh, characters like X and Zero were images of my ideal heroes. X had much to learn at first and often took his ideals a little far, but he went and fulfilled his infinite potential to the best of his abilities, saved the world from the Maverick virus, Weil and Omega, and even created peace between humans and reploids for a century. Zero overcame his difficult identity crisis and purpose for fighting and saved the world from the world's craziest human mad scientist, both while being so freaking cool.

TayoEXE Zero overcame his identity Crisis by end of Zero 3. He is not a copy, he is his own being, he is Zero.
He found his true purpose by end of Zero 4. He is not a machine bound by his programming, he does what he does because he believes in them-like a human do (Just like Kraft, interestingly enough)
I suspect Wily wanted him to be the TRUE ultimate robot, to not be bound by Asimov's laws, and to surpass even X. And given how Zero turned out, it is possible he wanted Zero to be the key robot when the need to kill a vile human was needed.

When I was just a kid, I only felt excited because I finally finished the game. Little did I know, the ending will haunt me years later.
This is more than a game for me, it's a precious part in my childhood.
It hit hard on the feels when knowing the lyrics also what happened love between ciel to zero.
In this we are kindred spirits.
And me who grew up playing Megaman Zero games, seeing that Red Hunter die several times to spikes, mini bosses and bosses, progressed with him, i never felt that amout of love with anyother game, to the point i watched Longplays of the game and still want to play, and train so much that you want to get in that part.
I remember when i got to battle against Omega Zero the first time, after watching the battle on youtube many times, i almost lost my respiration in emotion XD
This song is basically Ciel confessing her love to zero after he was destroyed and it makes me tear up :,|

That hurt. I mean, playing on an Emulator (MyBoy) makes the game far easier (no hits and S Ranks are EZ with two Save Files :p I did learn the Boss Patterns though - Only have Zero 3 to finish lol) but it hurt when Ciel was crying under the tree.

It’s quite sobering to see that every time Zero meets a loving girl, death splits them apart before their relationship can truly start.
First he lost Iris in X4 and then Ciel loses him in Z4.
Ah, it could be intentional since 4 is considered an unlucky number in JP.
Ironically Zero begin his story with X4 and end it in Z4
If there's something I can take from Zero, is that life is deceptively simple. You can doubt your identity, your ideals, your actions, your free will, or the meaning of your existence, but in the end all those don't really matter. What matters is that you put everything into every juncture, enough that you won't regret them. Just focus on the problem in front of you and do your best, so that when you look back, all you will feel is that you tried your best and chose the best for that moment. Just fight for those who believe in you and destroy the enemy in front of you.
Zero went out the way a hero would. He did the one thing not even Dr. Light, Wilt's greatest adversary, would have predicted.
And I think he would commend him for it.

Wily actually may have predicted a human would, in the future, become the greatest villain ever. If so, he may have programmed Zero to be only bound to the Zeroth law of robotics, which basically means that "Should a human become a threat to mankind as a whole, the robot is allowed to terminate that human"
I like to imagine Wily would have approved, too. By destroying the greatest threat to mankind in Weil, Wily had, centuries on, beaten Light in the only way that would ever really stick.
His robot outdid Light's.

In fact X was Zero's savior many times during Zero, a series in which he couldn't use his physical body, he's far superior to Zero lol, it's just that Inafume doesn't want X to go berserk because he knows X would be unstoppable (Confirmed in X1, X has unlimited potential and how he evolves from X1 in which he was much weaker than Zero)

@@novachris5047 I'm pretty certain Trigger holds the soul of X albeit its said the master (Legends/DASH) created everything by then.
He too carries the Z saber in the second game which most certainly is the same at least _MegaMan ZERO_ or later Model Z used.
Then again, Master Albert (ZX series) also meant he created MegaMen hoping to achieve immortality which is just nonsense.
Luckily by that time Legends plays, Rock rather lives a cheerful life as digger that's only interrupted by some mean pirates and other MegaMen models that try erase life because there's too much (btw this part feels odd after watching Gurren Lagann), when not having a one-way ticket to the moon.
Maybe we are in luck now and Capcom starts working on the third game again at some point.

Imagine if The original Megaman, including his friends, family and enemies are in Cyberspace, watching alongside X and the 4 guardians as Ragnarok breaks apart in the sky, knowing that Zero will join them in cyberspace as the end draws near......

Or a reploid who tells stories of his youth, who modified himself to look a old, as his human wife, who passed away a long time ago.
And a human Scientist, a young lady who made tremendous progress in her mission to save Humans and Reploids from an energy crysis. And who is also brave enough to get into danger, if it means saving her people. The same human lady, who have awoken him from his slumber.
And who, apparently, has feelings for him. Heh. A love between a human and a Reploid. I bet Zero would laughed at the concept itself, right before admitting that he actually likes it, despite lacking any understanding of that emotion....

Yes, Zero does recover his memories in Zero 3 (Partially), you can even see how is strange personality (Zero 1 and 2) disappears, and his serious sardonic personality appears again (Since Zero 3, his confidence is the same as the X games), in his last words in Zero 4 is more evident, remembering his moral dilemma of the X games.
Actually... Zero is recovering his memories slow in the series, in the end of Zero 1 he even call X his partner after hearing his voice.

I think Zero 4 was the true ending in the megaman series, and ZX was a transition to a new era (legends)

Legends is actually comes from X5 branching timeline.
If X5 ended with good ending, the story continues with Z1.
But if ended with bad ending, the story continues with Legends.
I mean well there are 3 endings but X good ending with normal Zero condition is actually a forced retcon by Capcom without Inafune knowledge and the original ending is 2 ending with Zero become a maverick ending and Zero's own sacrifice while remembering his past.

当時まだ小学4,5年生くらいの自分からすると、ラスボス撃破後に主人公も一緒に散るなんてシナリオは衝撃的過ぎた。
ゼロが最後にシエルに言った「オレを信じろ」って言葉がカッコよくて、切なくて...
最後に映った壊れたゼロのヘッドパーツが映った時、小学生ながらにゼロはシエルとの「必ず戻ってくる」っていう約束を守ったんだなって理解してボロ泣きした覚えがある。
ほんと素敵な歌だなぁ
ゼロを初めてプレイした小学生の頃は何事も勧善懲悪が当たり前だと思ってたから、ゼロ４の結末はあまりに衝撃的だったな…
子供ながらに物事の捉え方とかが一気に変わったし、もはやロクゼロ抜きじゃ人生語れないかもしれない

Admittedly I had Zero's death spoiled for me, but Ciel falling to her knees and crying tore my heart out

I think that's what make the Zero series so good compare to Classic and X, it has a good and complete story with an actual ending, so I'm glad they end it on a satisfy ending.
I mean it's moreso that I just want more Zero and it felt like these games went by really quickly for me and I don't really like the ZX games that much
@@TheMajesticMrL I honnestly don't care for the ZX games myself, I like Zero so obviously I like to see more of him, but I think sometime it's just better to end on a high note, rather than continue to the point of losing what makes a series good.
If they ever do make a Megaman Zero 5, I want the protagonist to be Ciel. It could be the perfect bridge between the Zero and ZX games
@@JioTheAegis There's a fan concept called Project RCL (Rockman Ciel) that is this exact idea. I think it may have been cancelled though but it's such a cool idea
People wanting more of Zero, meanwhile I'm here like: What about X, my boy been fighting alone and fought through the Elf wars, built Neo Arcadia, been an iconic logo for the "megaman" name and he didn't even have an ending. Like, you never see any of this.

Yes, his journey actually end with 2 cliffhanger endings, X8 and Command Mission didn't sell enough for us to see the conclusion, at least we got the X Collection so maybe we get to see more
He definitely deserved better. Died so cheaply. But the thing with X, he was okay with it all. As long as he had Zero, X didn’t mind dying since he deliberately undermines himself under Zero yet being a stage stronger. Even Zero admits it. That’s why I comment every Capcom post on Instagram for elf wars and animation for the drama tracks. It’ll be perfect. Ceil Saga and Elf Wars Saga would be insane.
He died in megaman zero 3 if i remember right. ( not really die , he just dies as cyber elf and "surposely reincarnated as X model transform gear in megaman ZX )
@@Tjad Yeah he’s gone gone in MZ3. I’m guessing Ciel used Copy X data she saved and Zeros memories of X from his parts found to make Model X since after Z2-3 Zero remembers X fully. Or used Copy X data.

I’m struggling to decide if Ciel had a love for Zero that was more of a daughter’s love to her father, or if she had actual romantic feelings towards Zero. If it’s the latter, it makes it kind of sad, because Zero doesn’t feel that way about her. He behaves in a fatherly manner towards her. If it’s not romantic, it’s still sad because that means the ending of this game robbed this girl of her father figure. Now all she has is the memory and she does what she can to help fix the world he sacrificed himself saving.
Yeah, it’s so sad! She was used for her wit by Neo Arcadia for years only to lead in the fight against it, then fell in unrequited love with a dude twelve times her age but STILL managed to outlive him. Ciel had it rough, man.
I like to tink that iris was the only one zero loved
I think Ciel fell in love with him because at the end of Megaman Zero 4 when he fought with Dr. Will, Zero said goodbye to her, her scream was noted in despair and I think she is already supposed to love him or maybe I'm wrong.

I have a big brain. If MMZ get an anime, in the end of Zero 4 when Zero waited his death, he somehow connect to Ciel for a call. And he said his last word: "Ciel, thank you for believe in me. Thank you for revive my heart. Thank you for your support. Thank you for everything. Ciel, I just wanted to tell you something for a long time since after that Omega battle... Ciel, I love you." And he dies while smiling.
I'd say the epilogue would have Ciel arriving at the crash site and finding what remains of his helmet. She would hug it in tears only to then hear a familiar voice "Don't cry now, Ciel. I lived a wonderful life, among friends, fighting for a better future. One time, I asked myself a single question: What am I fighting for? Thanks to you and the resistance, I found the answer: so that humans and reploids can live together in harmony. From where I am I will oversee that you too do your part in our mission for the future of both humans and reploids, and remember that you are never alone..."
That would steel her resolve, she would wipe her tears and make a promise: "One day we will meet again, Zero. But until then, I will solve this crisis. The world will find its peace."
It would be even cooler if Cyber Elf Iris helped Zero.
And says "I know you still love me, and I still love you. But it's nothing compared to your love for Ciel."
